Orr Park is a wonderful place to walk, bike, fish, or let the kids play. This park is beautiful and peaceful. It's beside a creek and has several bridges you may use to cross. The creek is clear and you can enjoy fishing from the banks. There are several places where steps lead to the water for easy access. This park has several covered pavilions with benches and tables, perfect for picnics or parties. There is open space and soccer goals, a kid's playground with equipment, and an area with swings. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed. Several stations with free poop bags are spaced around the walking track. The walking tracks are great. There are short paths and long ones that are paved and well maintained. Restrooms are close to the ball field and the kid's playground. What really makes this park unique are the carvings. Keep your eyes on the trees. You'll see faces and creatures everywhere. I highly recommend this park for everyone.

Went to Montevallo to pick up some peanut butter from Medders Family Farm and came upon this cute little park in the middle of a residential area. While walking around, we noted a ton of unique carving on dying/dead trees! Some were cute, some were pretty, and some were creepy....a little something for everyone, ha. A quick search on Google taught me that a local artist Tim Tingle started this tree carving project back in 1993 in an effort to preserve the park's ancient cedar trees. Pretty amazing! Definitely a cool site to check out if you are in the area. Oh, the park also has a covered pavilion with tables as well as a playground, so it would also be a great location for outdoor kids birthday parties!

This is a really nice park! A great place to take your dog for a walk. My friend had heard about all the tree carvings so she had suggested going here. Three of us went on a weekday morning. There were only a few other people. The paths are paved so we even saw someone with a wheelchair. They didn't seem to have any trouble. It was fun trying to find all the trees. Some are carved on both sides. I think small children would love looking for them all. There is also a playground and large open fields. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

After living in the area for 5 years I stumbled on this gem! Nice park with walking track. But no ordinary walking track by far!! All along the way are carvings in the trees. I spent much time admiring the artwork of someone I would never know. Must say is something I'm so glad to have found!! Park in gravel parking lot. Walk over bridge and enjoy! Easy walk. Wheelchair accessible. Clean. Family friendly. Picnic pavilions a

Orr park is one of my favorite parks in the area! There is everything from a creek perfect for wading, a great walking track, large open fields, decent playground equipment, and shaded pavilions that can be rented for parties. My favorite feature, tho, are the whimsical works of art carved into the trees by Tim Tingle. As you walk thru the park, keep your eyes peeled because you can find wizards, dragons, unicorns, birds, snakes, and more! My kids love to make a game of walking thru the park and trying to spot as many as they can. Every time we go, we find something new! We had my youngest child's birthday party here one year, and the pavilion was spacious and affordable. If you're in the area, DEFINITELY check out this hidden gem!!

I really enjoy coming to this hidden gem of a park. I go to parks for peace and quiet. I just want…read moreto vibe in nature . There are no sport fields here(yay!) There is not a playground here (sorry kiddos) but what you do find are many trails to walk and enjoy . You actually might not even see another person . This is a huge park with many trails intersecting one another. There are plenty of informative signs all around, benches and just tranquil scenery. How could you not like sitting beside a creek listening to the sounds of nature. Most parks miss the whole point of what a park is supposed to b. There is history around if you look hard enough . I have been twice so far and haven't seen all the trails yet. You will see turtles sunning themselves and colorful birds They have one bathroom at the entrance and a pavilion with picnic tables right beside the parking area. If you like nature (as I do!) , wildlife, and peace and quiet this is your jam. It is mine:) Now women word of warning I wouldn't come here by yourself straight up. The place is so huge and I'm sorry if you go on the long trails it could b dangerous. Just b cautious and observant. So this is a more of a wild park than people are used to. The parking lot is gravel. If you love to explore nature as I do! You should love it:) I love the history of this place which many parks erase or don't highlight enough (Alabaster cough cough) So take a water bottle, a snack, and love of exploring and go check this place out. Please though respect the park don't litter, and have some time in nature. Quietly please ... Some of us love to get away from the bustle of society and recharge in peaceful surroundings..I can't wait to go again :)

That's the nostalgia here. It's apparent that this park is older, but we loved the character and charm it brought. There were many older signs, even older walkways not in use, but the scenery and birdwatching was beautiful. The kids stations dotting the trail, of times past, were fun to look at and even interact with. The creek was clean and had a trash filtering system in place. The trail was clean as well and mostly gravel/rock. Our favorite part was the creek's dam and manmade falls from it, and just when we are about to turn around we found it. Note that this is not a loop trail, but in and back out. We covered about 2/3 of it before turning around (sorry, it was Sunday off the cuff and we had dress shoes, did not pack our hiking shoes/boots). Only one mile, so 2 miles roundtrip! Flat and easy.

Don't get in a hurry okay . That will be used realistically in how many months of the year? We were told only the gravel road would b closed but this is what you see now. So ridiculous! You guys are absurd!! You are going overboard with the fencing and I was appalled. Alabaster do better!!!!!!!!

This isn't really a park in the traditional sense. It's a bit of a catch-all. This area houses…read moreAlabaster Public Works Department, RC Club, Bird Observatory, and a community garden (which I think is now defunct). It's also where you can find the Recycling Drop Off since the city no longer has curbside pick-up. It's a bit of a drive from most of Alabaster, so I usually wait until I have a fair amount to take out there; great if you have a place to store it in the meantime. There are two large bins. The rollback on the right is for cardboard only. It used to have a sign to that effect, but I didn't notice it this time. The bin on the left has several doors, with each one labeled: Metal, Plastic 1 and Plastic 2, and Paper. I'm pretty sure the bin used to have interior walls that separated the sections, but they haven't been there the last few times we've been. So everything eventually mixes together, and as you can see from the pictures, people just kind of put whatever in whichever door. I do, however, appreciate the option to recycle in some capacity. The sign out by the road doesn't include the Recycling or Public Works, so you have to keep an eye out for the entrance.

If I did not see the sign, I would have thought that I was in the wrong place. I am not much on bird watching or know a lot about it, so I do not know if there's anything special about this on that end.
