This is a small park geared more for a neighborhood type park than an actual experience type park. Still, it was a nice enough park.

That's the nostalgia here. It's apparent that this park is older, but we loved the character and charm it brought. There were many older signs, even older walkways not in use, but the scenery and birdwatching was beautiful. The kids stations dotting the trail, of times past, were fun to look at and even interact with. The creek was clean and had a trash filtering system in place. The trail was clean as well and mostly gravel/rock. Our favorite part was the creek's dam and manmade falls from it, and just when we are about to turn around we found it. Note that this is not a loop trail, but in and back out. We covered about 2/3 of it before turning around (sorry, it was Sunday off the cuff and we had dress shoes, did not pack our hiking shoes/boots). Only one mile, so 2 miles roundtrip! Flat and easy.

1 star as always for the employees . 4 stars because it is my favorite park.. They could do more…read morethough .. new signage , fix the benches, more bathrooms (yeah I know they will eventually) But it will not b any time soon . The way they haven't did anything to the stage for 2 months now. They haven't even started ..So now This is what you see while they are putting in the stage lol. Whenever they start lol. Don't get in a hurry okay . That will be used realistically in how many months of the year? We were told only the gravel road would b closed but this is what you see now. So ridiculous! You guys are absurd!! You are going overboard with the fencing and I was appalled. Alabaster do better!!!!!!!!

This isn't really a park in the traditional sense. It's a bit of a catch-all. This area houses…read moreAlabaster Public Works Department, RC Club, Bird Observatory, and a community garden (which I think is now defunct). It's also where you can find the Recycling Drop Off since the city no longer has curbside pick-up. It's a bit of a drive from most of Alabaster, so I usually wait until I have a fair amount to take out there; great if you have a place to store it in the meantime. There are two large bins. The rollback on the right is for cardboard only. It used to have a sign to that effect, but I didn't notice it this time. The bin on the left has several doors, with each one labeled: Metal, Plastic 1 and Plastic 2, and Paper. I'm pretty sure the bin used to have interior walls that separated the sections, but they haven't been there the last few times we've been. So everything eventually mixes together, and as you can see from the pictures, people just kind of put whatever in whichever door. I do, however, appreciate the option to recycle in some capacity. The sign out by the road doesn't include the Recycling or Public Works, so you have to keep an eye out for the entrance.

There is not much to this park. It is basically a place for bird watching and they have a model…read moreairplane field. If I did not see the sign, I would have thought that I was in the wrong place. I am not much on bird watching or know a lot about it, so I do not know if there's anything special about this on that end. However, if you are looking for a park for like recreation type stuff, I would look elsewhere.

My friends and a couple family members attended the farmer's market at the Amphitheater this summer…read more- and I found it to be a delightful location in Helena's Old Towne District. Local police made getting in and out of the amphitheater area easy. We got out of the car and I wandered the grounds, visited the individual farms' tables, walked through the park and children's playground areas and really enjoyed myself in the relaxing shade. The Amphitheater is an outdoor concert hall, festival grounds, movie theater and nature park. From their website (www.cityofhelena.org), it looks like they even have a "movie in the park" night throughout the summer. Although there were not any other mothers there, I met one mother who brings her children to play on the playground equipment and relax in the cool shade whenever she can as she lives nearby. The certified farmer's market meets on Saturday in the summer while school is out. I understood as a part of the farmer's market, there is a charity-of-the-week which allows local charities to meet members of their community and garner well-deserved support. The first week I visited, there was a local animal shelter offering dog baths for a donation, so there were many dogs on leashes visiting the farmer's market that day and enjoying themselves to a cool bath under the trees. The following week, we went back and were greeted by delightful young ladies from a local club, dressed in Antebellum dresses. Anyone would appreciate this location who enjoys farmer's markets, local concerts, small community events, children's playgrounds, movie in the park night, parks, trees, and shade. I'd encourage anyone to visit, bring a lunch, and have an old-fashioned picnic.
