However, my anxiety was immediately out at ease when we visited Alexandria Children's Dentistry. First thing's first, we booked our appointment online! I cannot tell you how much I LOVE being able to find out which insurance companies a place accepts, booking an appointment, and completing forms ONLINE. It simplifies my life and allows me to handle tasks at midnight when I remember. Anyway, our visit was great. When we walked in, we were greeted by super friendly employees. They got us checked in and escorted my kid over to the kid's theater. She settled in and got comfy and before I knew it, they called her back. One thing I didn't love (but understood) was the fact that parents can't go back with their kids - you're expected to wait in the lobby. I've never experienced this elsewhere. My kid was fine, but I would've liked to see and ask questions and I recognize not all kids would be good with that. I'm not sure it depends on the age either, as a friend of mine had her very young daughter there for tooth extractions and she was asked to stay upfront. That does not detract from the great service, however, and the fact that my kid came out smiling. Kids get a little treasure at the end, which is super cute. Ohhhh, also want to mention that I LOVE how incredibly diverse the team at this office is. It's so nice to see people of all backgrounds working in concert.

Dr. K is a grifter unfortunately: in a ten minute consult he told me that 1) my teeth were being ground down so needed a mouth guard 2) my gums were receding and required orthodontic consult 3) I would probably have cavities next time I got there because of the shape of my molars 4) I had concerning gingivitis due to LIGHT bleeding 5) that a small tooth chip from probably 15 years ago was due to some of these issues 6) I should get my wisdom teeth out. At every other dentist I've gone to I've never felt so buffeted by an endless stream of blah-blah "must act now!" diagnosis -- every other dentist has said my teeth is fine. And my teeth ARE and FEEL fine, but according to this dentist, I couldn't trust how I felt. But the thing that makes me confident this guy is full of it is that, when he was describing my teeth grinding, he said, "what about the headaches you told me about?" when I had never disclosed this symptom to him (because I have not had this symptom!) Sorry insurance isn't reimbursing you enough bud, but I am taking my business elsewhere. If I were an easier mark I would have paid thousands extra to make these fixes for problems that don't exist.
