Amazing venue for a surprise birthday party! Staff were all very attentive and helpful.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary in the Carriage House. Boyd was very helpful in arranging the date, time and menu for our party. Everything went smoothly, the staff was attentive to our guests. We provided our own music and had no problems with setting up early. I am writing this as a warning to other couples looking for a wedding venue. We initially selected Ormond Manor as our venue for our microwedding, and this was the worst decision we could have made. Everything we did was based on this location that is at least an hour drive for everyone, so I also based our vendors in that area. I paid my deposit at the end of November and everything was good to go. I sent an email to the coordinator, Lindy, three months before our date to start getting our timeline together as my vendors started requesting timeframes and we had people coming from out of state. I received no response after a week, so I emailed her again, and still no response. The third week rolls around, I email, get no response again, so I call Ormond. I spoke with an employee who instructed me that Lindy was not available, but she will tell her that I called. Still no returned call or email. I call again the next week and speak to the same employee who instructs me that she did give Lindy my message, Lindy is not available, but she will tell her that I really need to speak with her. Still no contact. Based on that, I started freaking out and canceled our contract via email within the timeframe to receive my deposit back. Finally, after almost two months of trying to reach her, I receive a call from a private number. It's Lindy and she instructs me she must call on a private line "off the record" and that the owners did not approve the contract I had initially signed, they want to now change our wedding and reception to something that either fits what they envision or to charge me double for what we already agreed upon. Also, her reasoning behind not returning my communication was because she "thought I would get the hint." The conversations literally had a tone of middle school drama that I can't explain, and I was just absolutely appalled. Keep in mind this is a microwedding, our budget is small, so that deposit was a big deal to us, so no I'm not just going to "take a hint" and leave all my money with you. I am only assuming, but I'm fairly certain they were waiting for me to fall in the timeline of not receiving my deposit back, and THEN telling me they could no longer accommodate us before returning communication. I asked her about receiving our deposit back, and it took my husband getting involved to get any type of response from her. The owners were out of town, which is another excuse I received for well over a month, and the reason I was unable to get my deposit back right away. I disputed the transaction with my credit card company and sent them all the documentation. Ormond never actually reimbursed our money, no apologies from anyone, and it took me disputing the charge to actually get my money back. It took us over three weeks to get our deposit back after I canceled which caused us to miss the window to secure another all-inclusive venue, and remember those vendors I contracted in the area? Yeah, now we had to pay travel charges to them for the new location. With only three weeks left until the wedding I was able to scramble and find a beautiful Airbnb, ordered food for catering, and my AMAZING wedding party and husband were able to throw together the wedding. The reception was nothing like we planned due to the last-minute planning, but it was still a perfect day no thanks to Ormond Manor. On a side note, my husband and I also went there to eat the food, and I am almost grateful this happened, because the food we were served at the restaurant was subpar by Louisiana standards. I work in customer service, and I have NEVER experienced that lack of professionalism. I'm sure other brides may have had wonderful experiences here, but ours was absolutely a nightmare. read more

Our daughter always dreamed of having her wedding reception at Ormond Plantation and it was an amazing night! The Wedding Coordinator, Paige, handled every detail for us from beginning to end. The food prepared by Chef Richard Kiral was absolutely delicious and enjoyed by everyone. The wedding packages included a day of wedding accommodations for the bridal party to dress and relax and many other extras. Ormond Plantation was an amazing venue with a professional staff, delicious food, and beautiful atmosphere. We want to thank Paige and all of her staff for accommodating us and making our daughter's and her husband's wedding a dream come true. read more

Pretty much the start of our River Road adventure, the Ormond Plantation was our least favorite of the plantations. It was very...NEW....looking. It was not terribly interesting from the outside, and having been on the inside before, I knew it was not that impressive there either. The Girly didn't even bother to take a picture of the house. She did, however, take a lot of pictured of the old wooden tub-boat located next door behind this tiny Farmers Market they were having. read more

Wanted to meet some locals and stay in a B&B near New Orleans. The home is authentic, yet modernized on a budget. If you love antiques and memorabilia, this is a refreshing stop off of the beaten path. The property is known for hosting events so help the groups celebrate and enjoy the festive nature of the staff. I especially appreciate Chef Richard for his incredible breakfasts. He knows his food and you can tell how much he loves showing off his special dishes. (Not going to give away his secrets, but 5 star quality!) My GF and I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful grounds, peaceful ambiance of early morning tea on the porch and the attentiveness of the staff. Great job, Ormond! read more

Stayed overnight at the plantation overnight on a Thursday in May 2016 and was very disappointed with the Red Room. DO NOT RESERVE THE RED ROOM! We had serious issues and wanted to talk to the manager when we checked-out but the manager was not on-site. I left a list of room problems, my name and phone number with the staff and they ensured me that they would give the message to their manager. Didn't hear anything. I also tried reaching out to the Ormond Plantation manager directly by calling the plantation but the manager was unavailable so I asked for the manager to return my call. I haven't heard anything. Issues we had with the Red Room: * Television did not work - we were told someone would come and connect but that was never done. * Bugs in the en-suite bathroom - so many (15+) running around on the bathroom counter top that I had to move my toiletries and shake out my robe that had been laying on the countertop - not sure what kind of bugs they were. By the time we found the bugs, it was too late in the evening to call the office. * Found more bugs in the fireplace once we started looking. (disgusting) * No hot water in the room - could not shower - let the water run at least 10 minutes and it stayed cold (we wanted to shower the morning we were checking out). We managed to wash our faces the evening before with cold water. Wouldn't you agree that this is substandard? The food the meals we had were all excellent - the chef is amazing but consider carefully booking the Red Room. After multiple attempts to reach management to discuss the room because we wanted to ensure things improved for future guests and getting no response; I felt it necessary to let others know and beware. read more

I attempted to have my wedding reception at this venue in which they allowed outside catering I was sooooo excited. I previously planned to have a church wedding and to have my reception at this particular venue due to the fact that I am from Ormond in Destrehan. The overseer Robin was a bit unprofessional with me. As she promised me that I could have the venue for as long as I wanted. She quoted me a price for the venue and seemed so enthusiastic about it. I flew down to Louisiana for the weeked to see the venue and was estatic about how smooth everything was going and then she soon retracted her statement. As I am in medical school out of state she started to avoid me when I attempted to contact her. She placed other people on the phone to distract me who quoted me different prices and said that they were unable to find my paperwork and she didn't remember speaking to me and quoting me anything. In the end when I called and called she and her staff never returned my call back although Debra was very pleasant. She too was unable to vouch for me as Robin is her boss. This occurance also happened with another one of my friends who warned me about this venue. I was a bit of a hard head as I thought she maybe had done something wrong. I soon learned that it was true and as of now 7 months later I am still in search of a venue. I started a year and a half in advance and while I am not bitter I too want to warn others about the problem that might occur while planning to have a reception at this venue!! BEWARE!!!! If you get a quote from anyone at this venue get it in black and white it will save you some time and heartache!!BBBBBBEEEEEWWWWWWAAAAAARRRRRREEEE!!!!!! REEEALYYYY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
