NOT Philly steak.
H.E. J.

Dropped in to this joint about 10:15 pm on a Saturday. Place was empty. Ordered 2 originals with Cooper sharp and a order of fries. 45 dollars and change. It's the boardwalk; I get it. The service wasn't great nor terrible. Problem I had was with the product that was served up. Basically I was served a steak ummm sandwich. The steak was FLAVOR LESS AF. Also the amount of steak on the roll was blasphemous-see pics. Worst cheesesteak I've had ever. Pro tip: up the portion of meat. Use ribeye! Season the meat.

Fresh & Tasty Turkey Wrap! ...could use some more meat though.

Not too shabby. Was on the hunt for a wrap on the boardwalk & the menu here not only worked for me, but for the BF whom was after a cheesesteak. Our selections were made to order, so it took about 5 minutes to receive. Though my turkey wrap was a bit light on the meat, it was filled with fresh lettuce, tomatoes & was satisfying enough. The cheesesteak was 3x the size of my wrap & was commented on as "a-ok". We debated on returning next day for lunch, so in our opinion - worth the visit!

TLDR: Future customers be warned that your preferences are not respected here…read more I love the sandwiches here. HOWEVER today we experienced 100% unacceptable behavior by the chef (I believe the owner) in the back. My friend, who unfortunately lost her voice, ordered a sandwich through the notes app on her phone to the girl at the desk. Her order was an Italian with diablo and liverwurst. The girl understood it fine, asked some questions but they understood the order. He came to the front and asked to confirm the sandwich with salami, pepperoni, and capicola, PLUS the liverwurst. He told us that's not something he had heard of before but we confirmed we wanted it all on one sandwich and he went back. Seemed fine and understood. When we got to the counter, they had two sandwiches ready for us. We informed her it was liverwurst and she just handed over the one sandwich. Paid and then checked the sandwiches after the confusion. We realized they just put liverwurst and peppers into the sandwich and nothing from the Italian. We went back into explain, talked to the first girl at the counter. She asked "did we write the order wrong?" And I confirmed for my friend, we just wanted to add liverwurst and peppers to the Italian sandwich. She said okay and that they would remake it. Then the owner came back. He gave us a serious attitude and said "I'm not making it that," openly insulted her order by saying "those meats don't go together" and that he wouldn't honor the order despite her already paying for it. I told him "It's what she ORDERED, that's what she wants." He replied "I don't care, I'm not doing it." (A simple "we don't do modifications" would have been totally understandable by us instead of this.) Thankfully, his entire wonderful staff heard. I asked about just paying for the other sandwich so we could combine it at home. The amazing woman at checkout gave us the other sandwich for free. The second star is purely for the generosity and understanding of the staff. We understand it was busy and sometimes things get overlooked, but the behavior from this guy was extremely unprofessional. Their only saving grace was their extremely kind and apologetic staff. Future customers be warned that your preferences are not respected here. A quote from my friend when we were home: "I was half-hoping that when I added the two sandwiches together, it would be disgusting and he might have been justifiable. But it was delicious just as I ordered it." We brought our friend to visit Sea Isle City to show her the best it has to offer, and it's a shame the owner's behavior ruined this experience.

Man, this is actually a tough one to assign a "Stars Rating" For me nothing was below 3 Stars but…read moresome aspects of my experience was 5 Stars. First, the customer service. 5 Stars. They employees were all friendly and being our first time here they happily help answer any questions we had about the menu. They have seating on an outside deck and limited seating upstairs. We chose to sit upstairs and a young lady made sure all the tables had been properly wiped down before seating us. We ordered at the counter and they brought our food to us. The Rice Balls, 4 Stars. Decent size, hot, crunchy bite, and generous amount of cheese in the middle. If it had some sauce inside and meat it would have been a 5 Star Rice Ball. Cheesesteak American Wit. 3 Stars Stars. Personally I like the option to have a seeded or non-seeded roll they only have seeded. The size of the sandwich was great but it lacked flavor. Also the fried onions were a little on the raw side. The Boro. 5 Stars! My wife thoroughly enjoyed this sandwich. It isn't small she could only eat half but it warmed up perfectly in a convection toaster oven the next day. CHICKEN CUTLET, FRESH MOZZARELLA, PEPPERONI, VODKA SAUCE and HOT HONEY on a SEMOLINA ROLL! Truffle French Fries. 3 Stars. They were, "okay" we both were not overwhelmed.

They both were delicious. Next we ordered 6 of their Sloop Point, 6 of their Laughing Gulls along with an order of their Tuna Crudo - they all didn't disappoint! Then we rounded out our visit with their Eggplant sandwich and their Oyster Po Boy that featured fried Sweet Amalia's that we shared. Both were served on a crusty, sesame seeded Po Boy roll. Everything was fantastic which was complicated but their superb, friendly service - made you feel like family! The atmosphere was warm and the seating on the patio was enhanced with today's perfect weather! They were continually busy while we were there filling all of their tables. In addition to the awesome fare, they also offered local produce, hot sauces, jams, jellys and other cooking tools and cook books! I would give them 5 Stars in all categories. I however felt that the shucked oysters were rather small and with that overpriced at $ 22.00 for a half dozen. All of the other menu items that we enjoyed were a little pricey but definitely not unreasonable given the outstanding quality! I would definitely rate them as a great place to try - well worth the trip down! Give them a try!

However, the only bummer was the food wasn't that good. Now granted this was my first time coming here and we only got three things. But the clam chowder was so salty we couldn't even finish a cup of it. The muscles were cooked perfectly, however, the broth again was too salty. And the eggplant sandwich has a great sauce! But the bread to eggplant ratio was off. However, that's not to say I will not be coming back here. I definitely am. There is plenty more on the menu to try, and I'll be able to for a better opinion the more different dishes I taste.

Claims that reached me all the way in Baltimore. They said it's a cheesesteak worth traveling for and lucky me, my good friend lives nearby and was down for a lunch meetup. Her words, at my suggestion to meet up at Chick's, were "Definitely, that place is amazing but... How'd you hear about it?!" They clearly do tons of pick up orders and stay busy despite being an off peak time. It took a while to figure out if I was standing in the right spot. (This is another good sign) The chicken noodle soup was amazing. My toddler loved the torpedo. My cheesesteak with fried onions and cooper sharp was everything that I wanted it to be.

Ordering ahead of time was easy, and my food was hot and ready when I arrived, which I appreciated. However, the parking is a bit of a problem, since the storefront is tucked into a narrow alley off Route 70, and there were a couple of close calls with cars while I was pulling in. The cheesesteak hoagie was $20, and sad to say, other nearby spots are putting out a better sandwich at that price point. The bread was not toasted much and the sandwich just was not as full as I expected. The meat itself was not bad, but it missed the mark on flavor. I also grabbed a danish off the counter as a last minute treat, and it did not taste anything like it looked, with a very bland flavor and almost no sweetness, more like a plain piece of bread. Overall, I would pass on this spot, especially with stronger cheesesteak competitors in the area offering better sandwiches and a more satisfying experience.
