Ate dinner here early Saturday (around 4). Not being from the area we chose this place since it has a large menu and we were with two teens who are somewhat picky. I was pleasantly surprised at how good some of the dishes were. I can see this place being busy on a Satuirday night for dinner, so plan accordingly. We started with sweet potato fries for the table. The portion was not large, but the cook was just right. Crispy without being drenched in oil. My wife and I shared a chicken Cesar salad and a chicken parmigiana. The salad was completely forgettable and not that great in my opinion. The chicken parm came with a side salad, also nothing special but a nice portion for side salad. The chick parm was extremely good!! A great balance of crispy, chicken thickness, sauce and cheese. I would have rather ordered two of these than the Cesar. It was so good, I would consider getting off the highway (if traveling through the area) just to eat it again. Now here is the worst (in a good way) part! This place bakes their own bread and its ridiculously delicious. In fact we had three baskets brought to our table, and I took it back to the hotel room after dinner. By around 8 I found myself picking at this bread and I could not stop eating it, that's how good it was. Our friends ordered a plain pizza and I had a slice. The dough was simply great, the sauce was also very good. However, the thickness of the slice and the amount to cheese, made it a mediocre pizza for me. Again, taken separately the ingredients were good, but the slice was too thick and the amount of cheese too much relatively speaking. If you like bread, this is the place to get it either plain for sauce oir olive oil dipping, in sandwich form or frankly just plain. This is also one of the best chicken parmigiana I have had for sure. read more

I live in NC, and for whatever reason none of the sub shops have bread like they do in PA, so it's always a real treat to stop in here and get one of their delicious Italian Subs! Sometimes I even get a couple sub rolls to go! Their pizza is really good too, highly recommend this place! read more

My husband and I decided to order OIP in downtown lock haven for takeout. We got a cheesesteak to split and a large pizza. Upon taking the cheesesteak home, I got about halfway through before finding 2 large black hairs in my sandwich. Needless to say I completely lost my appetite. I tipped well and we have frequented their establishment and always found their food to be good. However, when I called to discuss this incident I was told I would have to bring in the uneaten part of my cheesesteak in order to be compensated. Which I did and was compensated the $10. I have never heard of having to bring back the half uneaten portion of your food due to unhygienic business practice. I had to fish through the trash and put it in a plastic bag. They then gave me $10 and change for this terrible experience. Will not be eating here again. read more

The food was good and our waitress was kind, but the experience was completely ruined by the cashier's behavior. I opted not to pay with my credit card because of the added fees and told the cashier I would go get cash from my wife, who was waiting in the car. Instead of a simple response, she snapped, swearing multiple times in front of my teenage children. She actually said, "Why the f** would you come to the register if you're not paying?"*--loudly and aggressively. She swore multiple times and complained with another employee while I was retrieving the cash. It was humiliating, unnecessary, and completely unprofessional. I've never been spoken to like that in any business. Until the owners address this kind of behavior, I absolutely won't be returning--and I'd seriously caution others before coming here. read more

OIP is the first stop I make when I come home. Most of us want an OIP Cheesesteak and a bag of Middleswarth chips when we hit Lock Haven. This was the only time, in 30 years of coming home, that I wasn't happy with OIP in Lock Haven. The people were different and didn't seem to care. My order was wrong for the first time ever. I'll definitely come back when I come home next, I just hope it goes back to the OIP we all know and love!! read more

Their sandwiches are amazing and the bread is really what makes it. Sometimes it's hit or miss on the pizza, but it's typically very good, but the OIP in Mill hall makes better pizza, and so does pizza king. Service is also good and the overall seating is good. Come here for sandwiches and sit down, but if you order take out order from Mill Hall. read more

As of 1/12/2021 the lock haven location gets a 1 only because 0 is not an option. Went in with a party of 5 and a one year old. The waters that we received tasted absolutely disgusting. My brothers Sicilian slices were rock hard and mushrooms tossed on right from a can. We ordered over $100 worth of food between the group. Note that the one year old did not order anything. As we received our bills they took it upon themselves to add gratuity to each check. They claimed it was for a party of 5 or more but the menu clearly stated 6 or more. Then the cashier added double taxes to one bill and after corrected became angry and started giving my brother and attitude. This is poor service and attitudes at its finest. We would have tip the waitress but after being forced to and then dealing with attitudes we just let them keep the tip and will NEVER return. Better places to get pizza and Italian food in town. read more

Ordered three salads, one was special because of medical issues. Woman taking the order on the phone wasn't polite and seemed to have an attitude issue. Apparently had attitude when the order was picked up. According to the menu, you are supposed to get a loaf of bread with each! Missing two of the bread. I grew up in Lock Haven and on OIP (as it is affectionately known as) pizza. Every visit back home MUST include at least one (if not more) trips to OIP. They have the best pizza I have ever had (New York Style, unique taste, awesome cheese) and their homemade sandwiches are awesome (especially their Italian sub), made with homemade bread and fresh ingredients. The Calzones and Strombolis are just as good and humongous! They have a full menu with practically every Italian item you can think of (Pasta, Pizza, Sandwiches, Salads, Calzones, Strombolis, etc.) This is authentic Italian food in a casual atmosphere (though this location does have a nice adjacent dining room). The owners are Italian and know what they are doing. Kudos, Sal! THere are numerous other OIP Restaurants within an hour radius (I'm guessing they are the same family), but they all seem to be different and not quite as good as this one. The one on Hogan Blvd in Mill Hall is pretty close, but still off a little from the downtown Lock Haven location. read more

My hometown will probably call me a snob, but I'll take that chance. There is so little good food in the area I grew up in! It never fails to amaze me every time I visit. But, there are a few blasts from the past I still dig. O.I.P. is one of them. Gotta have the subs. The bread is great, and is shaped like no other sub I've ever had. The meatball parm. is saucy and gooey with mozz cheese and the Provelone Cheese sub rocks with italian dressing, fresh tomatoes and red onions. I was on the road to Illinois from NJ and stopped by with my family for some pizza. this place is right on the way near the major highway so if you are passing by, I really encourage you to try this place. This place is not only cheap but also surprisingly good. I think it was better than the ones served in NYC. I think I ordered margarita pizza which had a great taste to it. The OIP on Main St will always be my favorite restaurant. They have the best pizza and cheesesteaks on the planet! Every small town has a place where if you walk in, you will see a lot of people you know. I grew up in Lock Haven and the OIP is that place. It is the spot where everyone went on Friday night's before the High School football games. It is where you took your first date to eat before you walked down the street to watch a movie at the Roxy. It was even the restaurant some High School students went to before the prom! At Lock Haven High School (R.I.P.), it was common to hear, "Meet me at OIP after school" daily while walking down the halls between classes. If you lived in Clinton County, you knew where the OIP in Lock Haven was. A few years ago, I was watching tv at my place and saw that an OIP was coming into my current town. I was so excited and ate their the day it opened. I was expecting the same food that I got in Lock Haven but it wasn't even close. That OIP went out of business in a year. If you are ever near Lock Haven, do yourself a favor and eat at the OIP. You won't regret it. read more

An absolute DISGRACE! I and my family love OIP places, we've been to probably a dozen or so of them, so when traveling we stopped at this one thinking it was a sure bet. How wrong we were! We ordered, 2 cheeseburgers, baked ziti, 2 pepperoni slices, an order of fries, a slice of hawaiian, an order of bread, and a shrimp basket. The burgers had grilled tops that were both burnt, the ziti, hawaiian, shrimp basket, and (both orders of) bread were cold. Our drinks were not refilled including an 8oz coffee. We sent both burgers back and were hungry enough that we just shoveled down the rest. We had to waive our waitress down twice to get refills to wash it down. While we did complain numerous times we were never offered to see a manager, never offered to take anything off the bill (when i went to pay my bill they said "how was everything" "you don't really want to know that" the guy laughed and said a dismissive "sorry"). Now I can almost hear the collective "Oh hey everyone gets busy" out there. I know there was at least 3 waitresses and (I'm counting from memory about 22 hours away but) roughly 9 tables taken. I also saw a family leave after sitting down for about 10 minutes and not even being looked at. It should also be noted there's a chinese place RIGHT NEXT DOOR that my daughter begged me to eat at instead....I probably should have listened but we had 4 other people to consider. read more

Seeing as I went to school with Josh F. below, I concur that this is the place to go to see people you know. It goes like this: Pizza King for the best pepperoni pizza, OIP for the best meatball parmesan, and The Texas for chili dogs and milkshakes. OIP has the best bread anywhere, which makes fantastic subs (or hoagies as we like to call them in the haven). I defy you to find a better meatball parmesan anywhere. Food is good, specially the calzone. My wife and I been there four times in the last two weeks, but she just went yesterday afternoon and had a bad experience with one of the cooks (bald guy that came out from the kitchen). When she ordered the calzone, the waitress forgot to ask what kind of sauce she wanted, and my wife forgot to ask too. Then when my wife got her order, noticed sauce was missing and she asked for it, then this cook/chef came out from the kitchen and told my wife, in a disrespectful attitude/mood, that next time she had to ask for it when making her order, and it will cost her extra (like if is an issue for her to spend an extra few bucks). My daughter was present and went thru this man's behavior as well. Obviously they both felt disrespected and down by the way this guy complainted to them. Just the other night I had OIP for the first time. We ordered a cheese steak sub for takeout. Even though I've always heard good things about this place, I have never tried it because Lock Haven has an overwhelming number of pizza places! Anyway, when I went in to pick up the sub, I was surprised by how nice the inside of the restaurant was! It's decorated nicely and it has a more elegant feel than your average pizza shop. The sub was yummy and reasonably priced. It was also done within 10 minutes of us calling to order it! All in all, we had a good experience. I plan to eat-in sometime soon. read more

This place is perfect if you're going to dinner with people who want different things, because the menu is huge. They have pizza, calzones, Stromboli, hot subs, cold subs, burgers, pasta, salads, a ton of appetizers and sides. We got the mozzarella sticks and fried zucchini for appetizers and they were both great. I ordered the cheesesteak special, which is served on house-baked bread, and it was fantastic. The service was atrocious! Usually when service is bad, I tip less and shrug it off, but seriously all we did was place a phone order for pick up and during the call and during the pick-up we were treated so rudely that it felt like a slap to the face. It was hands down the worst customer service attitude I've ever encountered. The guy who took our order (I think he was the owner) was extremely curt, and the same guy did not bother to even extend a verbal greeting when we walked in (we were the only customers). He also ignored us until we were paying which was fine except he then acted like it was our fault that we weren't standing at the cash register the moment our food was ready and that we were wasting his time because we were standing 2 feet away. While we were paying, he acted like he had better places to be, which is why I didn't even hear him when he asked if I wanted a receipt so when I didn't answer he got all frustrated with me. To top it off, he said nothing to us when we had all paid and were leaving, but we said "Thank you" and "Have a nice day" because we were raised to be normal human beings. I have worked in customer service before so I understand all too well that employees are people too and they can have their bad days. Sure, you're free not to smile as much or say as many nice things, but even on the worst days, I knew not to be actively rude to customers, which is why I found this to be inexcusable. I'm not confrontational in the slightest but thinking back, I shouldn't have paid at all and just told him to keep the food while I took my business elsewhere. read more

I think to understand the great reviews of this place, you first have to consider that this town - this region - has very limited alternatives and that the fresh food movement has passed the area by without stopping. We had a combined lunch and dinner after a long day of competition. My son had a sandwich, I had pizza and we had a couple of appetizers. The food was OK, not great, not "I've got to come back to this place!", but OK. Really the best I can say is that I was very grateful to them to be open on Sunday, have plenty of seating and a clean place to eat so I could avoid the drive through's and other mediocre chains. read more

I moved to Washington about a year ago and miss this restaurant there is also an OIP in Mill HAll, PA both have a Sim. Menu although the Mill Hall OIP does not have alcohol at all. Very CLean restaurants and great food. I have friends who live in San Franciso, CA and each time she comes back to PA she eats here as well. The breads are baked fesh at the restaurants and are served hot. The subs are great as well as the strombolis and pizza. The Lock Haven site has a room for more formal and a room for more casual. although dress is casual and parking is street. Mill Hall has a parking lot. read more

Absolutely delicious sandwiches! My whole family was pleased with our respective choices. I got the eggplant parmesan; hubby got the sicilian sandwich. We all tried bites of each other's. The bread, as other reviewers have mentioned, is a unique shape and is the perfect chewy/fluffy ratio that you want when you order a fresh sandwich. Some of the best subs! Love the bread they use for the subs! They have a very friendly staff, but are kind of slow on speed. They are often very busy, but they have a large amount of seating. This is a great standby in the area for a quick sandwich or pizza. The food is pretty good, the prices fair, the wait staff friendly and just all-around a simple place to eat. Like most "italian" restaurants I've been too that serve italian cuisine and pizza to go - the emphasis here is more on the pizza/subs than italian entrees and the atmosphere is more of a pizza joint that on fine italian dining. I love this place! My grandmother always took me here when I was in PA! It is a small place but don't let that fool you! The service has always been good for me!
