The little old man does all the frying - he'll make your felafels fresh to order and fry them up while you wait. He also makes up the batches of hummus - mixing and stirring from the back of the shop. He shaves the meat, while his lovely wife takes your order and wraps the kebab. It's nowhere fancy and doesn't look all that exotic, but Turbo Kebab in Centro Lutwyche's foodcourt is the bomb-diggity. At a really good price starting at $7 you get so much filling and they include a lot of meat! I've been to many other kebab places, given most were after a night out, but I find that they don't include a lot of meat and filling. And this is why I love Turbo Kebab, they make great kebabs, at good prices and all the fillings are fresh. I am yet to find old wilted lettuce in my kebab. If it's in your area, I definitely recommend stopping by for a quick bite to eat.

Long tables of giant food platters, huge families talking loudly, the shop proprietor playing keyboard and singing, and lots of kids dancing in the middle of the restaurant. This is generally what our typical Turkish weddings look like, btw. We ordered a mixed platter of dips and bread to start, followed by a giant mixed grill, falafel platter, and my favourite, Iskender Kebap. Oh my lord, everything was ridiculously good, and most definitely authentic. Firstly, the eggplant was char-grilled, not roasted in a 400 degree oven; you can always tell the difference. The meat tasted like it was flown in from the motherland, the Pide bread was hot and fluffy, and even the yogurt was homemade. A couple of glasses of Raki, some great company, and some very authentic food left us stuffed and happy. We would definitely come back here again, now if only it wasn't located in the middle of nowhere...

They've been there, same location, different names over the years, since at least 2001 when I first tried a kebab as an inquisitive 13 year old. Frozen in time, their display and menu has not changed. Most importantly, the kebab has remained a tasty one, varying only slightly in quality depending on the staff (predominately middle eastern) rolling your kebab. The range on the menu is typical kebab joint fare. Lamb & chicken kebabs are available with their beloved lettuce, tomato and onion (if you're a veteran of kebab joints, that's the order you'll hear the salads shilled in, too!) plus extras such as cheese, tabouli, olives, pineapple and mushrooms. Hot chips are also available, although not once have I ever seen the fryer cooking up a batch. It's all about the kebabs, here. Dolmades (Mediterranean rice wrapped in vine leaves) and even the option for a "kebab burger" is on offer, but as adventurous as I am with my food, I can't seem to go past my old faithful Jumbo chicken with cheese and BBQ sauce, hold the rabbit food.
