Dishes are all aesthetically captivating and excite the palette. Shiitake Donut - interesting dish that kind of reminds me of a blend of the takoyaki texture and the classic filling of a mushroom croquette; the mushroom xo shines in the flavor here creating an immaculate depth of flavor. Potato Udon - this dish eats very much like a classic gnocchi; I like the embedding of the asparagus and greens that resolves the dish from pure heartiness; the 'udon' also eats very fluffy, but less-so than the original because of the potato. While I'm really happy to see this kind of southeast asian food opening near campus, the flavor of…read morethe food seems inauthentic and somewhat lacking. While I have had pho from Saigon to Hanoi, and am a therefore a little hard to please, I'm more comparing this to other asian food I've had in the UK and US. Even by those standards it is pretty weak. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue - a fabulously rich and spicy beef soup from Hue in central Vietnam. The noodles were tough and bland, and the soup, while well spiced, seemed to lack the depth of flavor that I've come to expect from Pho. Would maybe go again to try the bahn mi or other options.

Summary: A chic and well designed "pho" place that offers mixed feelings…read more If you want traditional Vietnamese Pho, this isn't the place for you. The flavor is drastically off and the ingredients used to make their pho are totally different. However, IF you are into a fusion form of Pho, take a chance and try this place out. I, clearly, wasn't a fan of the pho here. The noodles had this weird earthy taste while the broth lacked the flavor of beef. The broth was on the sweet side and clearly made to suit western tastes. Coming from Los Angeles, I was really surprised how the dish I had was called pho. However, the ONE thing I did like about the pho was that the beef they used was high quality and tasted amazing. The beef was juicy and tender, as if it would melt in your mouth! Service is dodgy. The servers here offer you service based on what you look like and how you dress. When my friend tried to order her dish while I was in the restroom, the waiter apparently told her "Not now I'm busy". However, when I called him over after returning from the restroom, it seemed as if the gold chain on my neck turned me into a "vip" client. He quickly took my order and apologized to my friend for his error. My personal experience with the service is good, but others might have it differently. On a side note, it seems like my friends really like their stir fried rice noodles. I have yet to try that--but from what I heard they are DELICIOUS.

I came here on a few occasions as I was staying next door and thought the food was just "ok"…read more I'm deducting a few stars for a few reasons. The main reason is that much of the menu is served with fish (either as an accompaniment or mixed in) and as I have an allergy to seafood, I couldn't get much of the food (for example, any of the curries). I asked if it could be made without the seafood ingredient and was told that it was already mixed into the sauce. I get that things are fresh, but how can you not take into account those with allergies? And if made fresh, why can't you leave it out? I believe I got the wrong sauce with the Roti Canai that was ordered as I've never had that type of sauce served with it before - was a tangy red sauce of some kind which did not go well with the bread, which was very greasy. The onion and ginger chicken lacked flavor. Overall, it was ok, but nothing compared to what other reviewers have said. Maybe it's an off night in the kitchen.

It's thanksgiving but being in the UK, that doesn't really mean anything hahaha so one of my good…read morefriend and I wanted to do a mini thanksgiving lunch and ended up here... Lol. The place is nicely decorated and pretty slow when we got there so getting a table was easy. The menu is straight forward. There was no lunch menu... Boo... Considering its next to the university campus you'd think they would offer a lunch special especially for students. They have the typical dishes you'd find in Malaysian restaurant so there's no special dish they specifically make. Since its thanksgiving, I ordered a roasted chicken... Closest to a turkey with rice. Te chicken was cooked well and seasoned so didn't need to put any salt or pepper. It came in a soy sauce base sauce so it further seasoned the chicken. In addition, there was a tomato base sauce that was on the side. The sauce didn't do much for the chicken so I stuck with the soy sauce. The dish was good overall and have no complaint about the flavour. The staff were pretty quick and was helpful. The location is great if you need to be at the university campus it's very close, good choice for a quick lunch.
