I very much enjoyed my pedicure with Alex tonight. She took her time, I never felt rushed, and she did a great job. When she saw I was enjoying the foot massage, she really took her time to help me relax. My toes are pretty, my feet soft and relaxed. She told me to stay in the massage chair while my toes dried, if I preferred. I love this place and the wonderful ladies who work here. Updating: I've been coming back bi-weekly for mani/pedis for almost a year. It used to only be pedicures because my nails don't grow. I was talked into a shellac manicure and stuck with it and now I have natural nails that look as long, strong and beautiful as acrylic nails. I see Sandy and she's done a great job of helping me grow them out, squeezing me in when I need them done but don't have a lot of time. Everyone knows me by name now, and ask about my daughter if she's not with me. I love this place! It's like going to hang out with a girlfriend who is great at doing nails. I don't give 4 stars because the polish choices were wintry and not great and I always mistrust a place using a metal grater (I declined it). Tho place is horrible! My daughter and I went in for a simple shellac change and they wanted to drill our nails! When I asked them to use the nail file they started talking in their native language. I further explained that our nails are really sensitive and can't take the drill. Well then they decided to use the file to take the polish down to my actual nail...which hurt! I've NEVER had my polish taken off with a nail file and then doused in acetone. By the way three different people worked on me and my daughters nails...and nobody else was there. The person that actually polished my nails was extremely rude and did not finish my nails with alcohol (it seals the polish). Horrible experience w/nasty service. Don't go here unless you speak their language and can fend for yourself. BTW - my daughter felt the EXACT same way that I did. She expressed her disbelief when we got in the car. read more

This is not the same place. The owner has changed and they have a new name - Athena Nails. However, the quality of work has changed too. I went to get a mani/pedi, and it was the worst manicure I may have ever had now. My nails were shaped poorly and she nicked two of my cuticles, which we all know flipping HURTS. I immediately came home to wash my hand and put medicine on the spots. Not to mention filed my own nails that evening, since they were lop-sided. I will say she gave me a decent pedicure, but that's not enough. After the manicure quality this time, I won't be returning. Here's hoping I don't get a nail infection!! read more

I am 8 months pregnant and unable to do my own maintenance anymore so I went to see Connie for a Brazilian wax. Pros: Connie was very kind. She checked with me regularly to make sure I was doing ok throughout the waxing. She took her time and assured that all of the hair was removed. She even went through with tweezers at the end and got any stubborn hairs. Cons: The website is quite misleading. It's not nearly as nice of a facility as the pictures make it seem. Connie repeatedly waxed the same spot which led to her removing the top layer of my skin. I now have scabs in a very unpleasant area. It's three days later and I'm finally able to walk without pain. I realize that waxing while pregnant is more sensitive but three days seems excessive. I also have some bruising. It was only slightly less expensive ($60 before tip) than going to a high end salon. I won't be returning here for a bikini or Brazilian wax. They may do really well with other services, but I think I'll just spend the extra money and go somewhere else next time. read more

Let me break down the prices for you... A basic manicure is $15. You and your sister in law both got basic manicures which came to a total of $30. You got 2 nails designs and your sister got all 10. Our store policy is $5 for every 2 nails, but we only charged $15. So your new total is $45. Here is the thing about nail salons, they are everywhere. There isn't a big enough variance in price to set one apart from another, they all offer about the same services and at the end of the day, you end up with just about the same end result, an adequate manicure or pedicure. If my mani lasts two weeks, I am thrilled, if my pedi looks good upwards to a month, I am happy. I will not wait - as I said, there is another shop practically next door, so we were off to a good start when I was seated right away for my pedicure. There was enough staff that someone was able to attend to me right away which meant I only soaked for a few minutes before she got to work. I guess I am use to sitting for a good 10-15 minutes, but that wasn't that big a deal. I was pretty disappointed with the polish selection. I like OPI products but their selection was small. I found one that was about the shade I wanted but when she began applying it, it was clear that it had been thinned out (I hate that) and the color was more opaque than I would have like. The pedicure was fine. I upgraded to a deluxe with a grapefruit scented, revitalizing product. This was a four step process, something to add to the foot bath, a scrub, a mask and lotion. It smelled pretty good and the pedicure was fine. They did bring out the cheese grater, which I declined. The massage was nothing special, but it rarely ever really moves the needle for me. When it was all said and done, my toes looked good enough, but as I said, the polish was thin and I think another coat was needed. The ladies working were nice enough. There was a younger girl that spoke English really well that was talking loudly to her customers. She had a whole lot to say about everything. My technician didn't speak English very well and made a few attempts to converse but that isn't really my thing. I would put this place at about 3rd on my list of places I will stop in to if my other two places are too busy to see me. I'd like to see better colors in the future though. I don't do gel and I think that selection might be better, by design. read more

I was looking for a place to have my eyebrows waxed near my home. The Yelp reviews were good for this salon. I was a walk-in but only had to wait two minutes before I was called. They do the eyebrow waxing in a room in the back. This was a great experience. She was quick, and my eyebrows look great. I haven't had them waxed in over six months, but surprisingly, it was even less painful than it usually is at other places. I will definitely return here. This is my new salon for waxing. read more

Really wanted to like this place not happy at all with my pedicure. Yelp really let me down today! #1 My sister and I had an appointment at 4pm and they still took people before us and we waited like 20 mins and no one even acknowledged us when we entered the salon. #2 The lady ripped a hang nail without letting me know and it hurts so bad. #3 she was extremely rough when cleaning the cuticles. #4 I wanted the basic pedicure for $20 but she gave the $25. #5 She didnt ask me how to shape my nail and did such a sloppy paint job. My sisters lady was good and her manicure was nice unfortunately I wasn't that lucky. #6 They over charged me it should have been 12 (mani) 20(pedi) plus the yelp voucher of 25% off for my service =$27. What they charged me 12(mani) $25(pedi) and & 25% off =$30.75. They ended up charging me $32 plus I stupidly tipped so $35 for a shitty ass job! Smh Im so irritated! This is now named Athenia Nails. Very nice people but they did not know how to do dip nails. I asked ahead of time and they said they did. I had a previous set done out of state that were wonderful. She didn't know which polishes to use, she didn't file them after dipping. They were rough and I could clearly see she was confused. She did attempt to make them look decent by applying gel topcoat. That worked but 12 hours later, the gel top coat is peeling. read more

They're very flexible with appointments and you rarely have to wait. The employees are very friendly and always have a smile on their faces. It's close to home, they seem to always be able to fit me in after work (they are open until 7 most nights) & everyone who has taken care of me has been very friendly. I've only had pedicures but they have been very relaxing & done very well for a reasonable price. They have free pop (and a huge selection) for their guests & a nice selection of nail colors. I was running 20 minutes late and called to see if I could keep my pedicure appointment and the person who picked up said yes of course which was pleasantly surprising as I had been running around all day running errands and what not. Once I got there I did have to wait about 10 minutes which was completely fine with me since I was the one late. I got a regular French pedicure from Connie and she did a really great job. I had my nails and eyelashes done on a Friday, I was not happy with them but I paid her anyway deciding that I would not return. However, the following week realizing that I had a job interview and I was looking at my eyelids because it started hurting and I wanted to see if she glued the lashes to my eyelids because they did not go straight across she did them something like a Groucho Marks mustache. To my surprise, I noticed a beige like substance on the top of my left lashes, I remember she had some trouble getting those on and it took her about 35 to 40 minutes when it should only take 15. Subsequently, I returned to the store and the owner started loud talking me when I showed her and she stated that she dont know if I went home and did something to them and because I did not return when she put them on, she would not redo them. she also stated that she would redo them if I paid her. I told her I will pay her no attention, but I wanted them off. She said ok but she went to wait on another customer, I sat down and another customer told me to go to the nail shop on Southfield and Grandriver because they do eyelashes really well. This place looks and smells very nice. One of the mangers Ken was very helpful and nice he did a great job on my nails he was amazing great conversation. I had been looking for another nail spa and everything was going great and I thought I had found my place until I got my pedicure. The girl was a real sweet heart but she needs a lot more training on the pedicure side I had to tell her to do certain things to my feet that I should not have to tell a person like clean the corners on my big toe. I tried to tell her that the skin was soft so it's ok to go a little deeper but she did not listen I think she just did not want to hurt me, but I was still unhappy because I know that she's not getting all the dead skin. she was very nice but just should not be doing pedicures.
