I'm a terrible sucker for appearances. For some reason, when visiting this Chinese takeaway I had imagined it to be rather quaint, an image no doubt created purely by its villagey setting and Yorkshire stone frontage. Unsurprisingly, I didn't find any puppies curled up by the fire or spring roll pies on offer inside, just a bog-standard Chinese with a grubby interior, unwelcoming strip lighting and average food. The egg fried rice and prawn crackers we had were both pretty good, but the rest of the food was let down by the film of grease that seemed to have settled over every dish. For the price, there are better Chinese takeaways out there and this one is probably only suitable if you're walking past and get hit by a sudden craving. read more
