Orgasmic Falafel interior
Jessica H.

Fantastic Middle Eastern platters and pita pockets. Probably our favorite meal in Byron Bay. This place is famous for its falafels, although they also serve meat here. The falafels are definitely smaller than average, but they give you a lot and they're really tasty. The hummus and baba ganoush are delicious, and all of the veggies are very fresh too. Staff knows what's vegan and can advise you. If you're in a group, order one of the massive platters to share. We had the $39 Mediterranean Platter, which was the perfect amount for two people. If you're by yourself, they've got a range of pita pockets. They also have a delicious Middle Eastern lemonade made with mint and rosewater. (The lemonade is free when you order a platter.) Vibe-wise, this place is Middle Eastern and bohemian at the same time. It's entirely open-air, with no truly indoor seating, but the weather in Byron is usually nice, so it's no big deal. Little Middle Eastern pillows are spread across the benches along the sides, which make for a nice touch but honestly I think they need a wash -- the pillows we sat on smelled like wet dog. And it's not nice to have the smell of wet dog permeating your entire meal. Service was super friendly, and I thought the cost was reasonable given the freshness and quality of the food and the fact that you're in a tourist town anyway. Highly recommend if you're in Byron Bay.

The falafel is truly orgasmic, but the hummus and pita were mediocre at best. But the falafel alone is worth it!!

Amazing falafel!! These legends even give you a sample of the delicious falafel in case you miss the restaurant tucked away in the laneway.

They have such a huge menu with all different variations of salads, kebobs, soups, stews, drinks and many other items. My favorite is the Joojeh Kebob which is a boneless chicken skewer. This dish is offered among several different options however we try to avoid rice as much as possible so our favorite plate is the Noon-O-Kabob. The dish usually comes with a side salad but we can't eat the dressing due to dietary restrictions so the kind owner has always been willing to accommodate. The Shirazi salad is also a favorite and is full of delicious flavors. The food quality is fantastic and I know this first-hand as I grew up having a Persian best friend and her mom's cooking is something I always miss. I'm so glad they have reopened as we were able to dine at their restaurant for lunch today. My partner has very limited days off but the time he does have off he always requests we get Shiraz for lunch or dinner. Definitely recommend this place to others! Plus if you're visiting as a tourist their prime location in Surfers is super convenient. We commute from Robina but it is definitely worth the drive!

Everything came with 4 serves on each plate- this was plenty of food for the 3 of us for dinner. The flavours were excellent and the presentation was impressive. It wasn't exciting as I had hoped as people were telling me how they love to tear off the pieces of the bread with their pizza. The pizza is quite long but just really lacked flavor. I didn't think the chicken was spiced at all and I could have had more tahini sauce. The lamb soup was filled to the brim with chickpeas so that was slightly disappointing as well. I think that I need to order the chicken pie next time so hopefully my order choice will be better next time. My gals love this place so I definitely think we'll be back and I hope I will like my dish better. You can't split the bill here and if you're lucky, you may even get some card tricks performed at your table. :)
