I handed her a hundred and proceeded to count the rest (I had some 1's to get rid of). I gave her 20 to finsh the transaction for the price of the massage, and the n 20 more for a tip. A total of 140 cash for the massage. She tells me that I didn't tip enough, that I should tip 25%. I told her that this is gratuity, and as a hairstylist myself I would never hound someone for what they can tip or "expect" a certain amount. She was very rude to me and cold and basically said goodbye. What happens next is next level. The owner runs outside and I'm thinking maybe she will apologize. She accuses me of not giving her the $100 bill. She said I only paid $40. I reassured her that I paid. Then Mary comes out frazzled with all the money in her hand and I can see the 100 bill on the bottom of the stack as she runs out. Mary turns right back around to go back inside (without apologizing) and the owner also turns around to walk back inside. To which then I said "are you going to apologize?" And she said she was sorry. What a Mother's Day. I'll never go back to this place. Beware.

I had and have some neck issues; the first time I came in I could not move my neck to the right at all. Peter has such strong hands, he knows what trigger points/reflexology to press to release the muscle(s). This type of massage though is not gentle, it's really to release tension and it may hurt a bit ..but you will come out feeling amazing. I'm sure you can always ask for more or less pressure. I've since moved away 30ish min away but I will continue to come back here! I'd only suggest that they make their music a little longer and ask if any guests would like a heat lamp. I strongly suggest them when you're looking to help fix or rebalance the body.

I really wanted to have a better experience here, and I debated how to rate it because I do think…read morethis place may be a good fit for someone specifically looking for a very firm, deep-tissue massage at an affordable price. Unfortunately, that was not what I was looking for or what I repeatedly asked for. I called that morning hoping to find somewhere nearby that could accommodate me on short notice. I had been staying at the hospital nearby and sleeping on a very firm couch, so my back desperately needed some relief. This location was less than five minutes away, they were able to get me in pretty quickly, and their pricing was very affordable. Those were all definite positives. The experience started off a little awkwardly. When I arrived, there wasn't much of a greeting or explanation of the process. I was eventually asked which massage I wanted, and after looking at the menu, I chose a 45 minute table massage. I wasn't given any intake paperwork or asked about areas of concern, injuries, pressure preference, or areas to avoid. I was simply shown to the room and left to figure out the rest based on my previous experience getting massages. Once the massage began, the pressure was immediately extremely deep. I told the therapist, "Light, please. I want a relaxation massage." When the pressure continued, I said "ouch" and asked several more times for lighter pressure. Unfortunately, it remained extremely firm throughout most of the massage. My biggest concern was not simply that the massage was too deep for my preference. It was that I was clearly communicating that the pressure hurt and repeatedly asking for it to be reduced, yet very little changed. At one point, the pressure on my lower back hurt enough as the therapist was pressing on my bones at this point, that I physically reacted and lifted up from the table before the therapist stopped pressing that particular area. Now, almost 24 hours later, I am still experiencing significant discomfort across my back. My skin and the areas over my bones feel bruised and tender to the touch, to the point that I have taken something to try to alleviate the discomfort. I have had massages before, including massages with firm pressure, and I have never experienced this level of soreness and pain afterward. I understand that some people absolutely love very deep pressure, and I can understand why someone specifically seeking that might enjoy this establishment. If you're looking for extremely firm pressure at an affordable price and don't need much of the traditional spa experience, this may work well for you. The pricing is reasonable, and they were able to accommodate me quickly. For me, however, "deep tissue" and "painful" are not the same thing. More importantly, when a client repeatedly says "lighter," "ouch," and "that hurts," the pressure should be adjusted immediately. Being on a massage table is already a vulnerable position, and with a language barrier as well, I reached a point where I was simply trying to get through the 45 minutes rather than continuing to argue about the pressure. Looking back, I wish I had ended the massage early. I don't expect a lot of fluff or luxury when I'm choosing a more affordable massage establishment. I'm perfectly happy to skip the bells and whistles if the massage itself delivers what I requested. Unfortunately, between the lack of intake or discussion beforehand, my repeated requests for lighter pressure not being followed, and the amount of discomfort I am experiencing the following day, this experience missed the mark for me.

I asked the front desk to clarify my remaining credits, including some 30-minute credits I believed were still available. Instead of receiving a helpful explanation, I felt I was treated dismissively and without respect. When I asked to speak with the owner or manager, the response was unnecessarily rude. I was even asked to leave while I was still drinking water they serve after the treatment, because they were closing. I understand the need to close on time, but every customer deserves basic courtesy and professionalism. Based on the way I was treated, I felt I was being treated differently because of my race. I hope management takes this concern seriously and addresses the situation appropriately.

Can I give a guy's perspective?…read more I've been to Spa at the Lake twice now, with my wife, and both times for pedicures. Guys, ya ain't lived a complete life until you sit in on one of these puppies. I probably wouldn't go do this by myself, but hey.. Sharon wanted to go.. so since the first time was great, why not? The second time was better. First off, they'll give you drinks and snacks, wine or water or soft drinks, whatever your pleasure. The first time, I took the wine. Next, they placed both Sharon and I in to the pedicure room where there was a couple comfortable reclining chairs and both times proceeded the service with a foot soak. If you opted for the wine, this part's gonna make your heart slow down to about 3 bpm. Next up, they're working your toes, nails and whatever else is attached. You're getting warm foot wraps, massages, paste-stuff that's like a melted minty wax. And by the time they're done with you, you've got some pretty happy feet. Extremely friendly, the feet-techs are always accommodating, professional and are core to an absolutely great experience. My wife is pleased and all smiles. I'm happy to hang out with her and the experience was awesome. They have hair salons and probably other areas that I haven't personally experienced. I've seen customers hang out on their deck overlooking a beautiful green-belt. It's pretty low-stress and makes for an awesome warm-up to head out to dinner afterwards. So, gals - this is a really nice place, relaxing music and atmosphere and all the customers seem to be pretty satisfied. Guys, definitely try it out. Head over there with your gals, or treat them to a special time on their own. I definitely recommend it. Makes for a happy home afterwards!
