These conditions became apparent only recently and baffled our son's school officials and us. In spite of many parent/teacher meetings and to our dismay, our son's struggles continued and even worsened. Less than a year ago, we lost my father - our son's grandfather - and we attributed this to his difficulties. However, much to our heartbreak, our son continued his downward path. It was at this point that my wife and I decided to seek professional help. Desert Marriage & Family Counseling was strongly recommended to my wife through her valley business network. We met with Kelly Lewallen, LMFT, and were greatly impressed by her professionalism, knowledge, and manner in which she explained a very delicate condition. Her handling of this heartbreaking episode in our lives was nothing short of miraculous. She was introduced to our son and quickly established a rapport with him that was kind, gentle, and reassuring. Moreover, she gently but firmly assured two worried guilt-ridden parents where the root cause of our son's difficulties lay. Needless to say, my wife and I were much relieved to finally know the real cause of our son's issues. Kelly then brought to bear her professional staff member, Kasey, to begin setting up a plan that recognized our son's condition and would allow him to fully utilize his scholastic skills and lead a full and satisfying life. I guess I made sort of a distressed sound since the process of trying to get a counselor had been going on for weeks and had been very frustrating but she told me that she would look up our insurance and see if she could find any doctors that maybe we hadn't heard of before and would text that information to me. She texted it less than an hour and a half from my phone call and I was sincerely surprised because literally do I do not usually speak to such nice people and then they do me a favor, a big ask, without even me being their customer. To be honest on my very first phone call we were able to get a therapist and we have an appointment with next week, and an appointment a week for the next month. I felt that Iris went way above and beyond for somebody she didn't even know and those are the kind of people that should be rewarded and thanked and normalized. My period started to get heavier, probably 10 years ago…read more Pain was really bad, and the amount of blood was massive, I had nausea, and anemia. I needed to take pain killers A LOT. I couldn't make any plans during my period. Even a 15 min drive in the car made me nervous. Recently I have been depressed and weeping when the period comes. And taking the birth control pill wasn't my option because I didn't want to quit smoking. So, hypnotherapy was my last resort. I cried during the session because it took me back to my past and emotions that I've totally thought I've recovered from, the pain and shock I felt when my brother died, about 9 years ago. After the session, I felt better as I finally faced my emotions. About 3 months have passed after three sessions, my period is much lighter. I can enjoy a walk along the beach or driving for an hour to my boyfriend's place even on my period without anxiety. I never knew this was possible, and very happy with the result!!
