There are many ice cream places that go out of their way to create a nostalgic look and feel. Some…read moredo it to make a point. Others, just are who they are. Why hide it. This is what makes them awesome. Welcome to Serendipity. It's in McMinnville, Oregon in their historic core. What keeps its character is that it both celebrates the heritage if their building, and integrates that into a unique environment that serves some pretty awesome local ice cream. It can get cramped inside, but if you take a brief moment, look around and enjoy the art, the beauty of the intact early 1900's artifacts and decor, complete with self-playing piano. The staff is friendly, extremely busy, and absolutely patient with the often consistent bustling crowds that come, even at night, in a weekday in summer. There's limited seating outdoors, weather permitting. However, don't forget to ask for that waffle cone. I won't get into specific ice cream flavors, but they are not ones you typically find and national chains. Nothing too exotic, and its all recognizable to the American palette. Bubble gum is one of those examples, but you'll find your favorite for sure. When in McMinnville, and in need of dairy with that sugar fix, Serendipity is it!

Where do I even start with this place?!? I'm from California…read moreand have indulged in many mango sticky rices. Dare I say this was the best one I have ever tasted! The sticky rice was creamy and the mango was super fresh! I also ordered a cinnamon roll latte; amazing! Definitely recommend for cinnamon and coffee lovers!! The service was amazing, there were two boys running the front! They made my drinks, ran the cash register, brought food to the table, and checked up on us consistently! My family and I were extremely impressed! The place was adorable!! It was cute and pink; brought an ambiance of home! So glad I tried this spot out!!

Yes, the food is great, but it's the wonderfully warm, family-run atmosphere that makes this place extra special. There's something genuinely joyful about dining here! You can feel the heart and personality behind the restaurant from the moment you walk in! I love the pleasant decor, comfortable seating, and trendy signage in this space. There is a small bar offering seating, as well as several tables throughout the dining room suitable for small groups. I wish there were more seating in this restaurant, but I assume the building code limits the number of occupants in the small space. Perhaps more outdoor seating would be the answer? We lucked into finding a table pretty quickly, however, be warned there may be a wait for seating on busy days. Visitors can order from the menu at their tables, or from the kiosk in the corner of the room. Everyone in my party ordered something different, and everyone was happy with the food they received. The chive dumplings were a lovely surprise, and I'd certainly return just to order them again! I love that Baker St Cafe's focus is more about quality than quantity. The food is fresh, is beautifully presented, and tastes amazing! I'd enthusiastically recommend this charming cafe to any of friends visiting McMinville.

I wish we had a kitchen where we were staying at because I would have loved taking back some veggies and berries with me to make something special on our trip. Instead, I got a selection of preserves in the farm market bing cherry, farm market boysenberry, wild and rare huckleberry, old fashion mountain blackberry, and old fashion red raspberry. I also got two jars of pasta sauce in roasted garlic and the other was portobello mushroom. I got one jar of Carolina reaper salsa as well. I thought these items would be great to bring back home and enjoy. Cashier was very friendly. Everything came out to about sixty bucks which wasn't bad at all. I have already tried the salsa and it is nice and spicy. The huckleberry preserves are good. I spooned a little into a small bowl and topped it with Tillamook vanilla bean ice cream and some granola crumbles. There are so many possibilities with the what I got and I am looking forward to trying everything. I look forward to trying more items from Farmer John's when we are in the area again.
