Our twins joined TDLD in 2019: our 3-year long experience with TDLD has met and exceeded our expectations and we were saddened to have left the nurturing environment of TDLD due to my job location change. TDLD offers the best combination of support system needed for working parents: loving teachers, 6:00am to 6:00pm care, onsite kitchen and in-house chefs that prepare gourmet meals 4 times a day, round the year care with closures aligned with Federal Holidays, classroom cameras, daily and weekly feedback through Class Dojo, Go-Home meal service, bilingual English/Japanese medium of instruction and last but not the least the only 5-star QRIS rated child-directed curriculum in the area. If the above is not convincing enough, please allow me to share our story...our twins had GERD due to their premature birth and when we started at TDLD at 15months of age, they suffered from severe reflux and feeding issues. Director Danielle Barth and Teachers Lisa and Becky took this challenge head on and helped our twins outgrow their feeding inhibition with love, patience and perseverance. Our twins went from struggling with bottles to enjoying Chef Daniel's and Chef Nathan's gourmet cooking in no time. We also took advantage of the Go-Home meals to continue the experience at home and it is a boon for families with two working parents. Soon after we joined, the pandemic hit...thanks to TDLD and their dedication not only was there no lapse in care throughout the entire global health crisis but also, they kept the kids safe with no school closures due to outbreaks...Kudos to TDLD management for continuing to support their entire staff throughout the pandemic despite operating with reduced capacity. Loving, nurturing and stimulating environment provided by TDLD has made our twins independent, curious and sociable: we experienced the beauty of this when they were chosen to join Japanese immersion Montessori pre-school (ages 3 to 6) in our new location. Our twins were invited to interview at the Montessori school based on the personalized assessment (collection of work and ASQs) of twins as compiled by TDLD throughout their stay; we are extremely grateful for TDLD teachers and their diligence to document the child's progress from as early as infancy. Our twins' thirst for knowledge and confident well-balanced demeanor as inculcated by TDLD led to them being accepted to join the program after in-person assessment. We had the chance to go back and visit the school after a few months and our twins were so excited to meet all of their teachers (Danielle, Lisa, Becky, Tomoko, Elsa, Lynn, Susan, Aurora, Candy, Katy, Ashley, Cara, Yoko, Simin, Melina, Brennyn, Kim, Rosa, Liz, Brigid, Eigo) and chefs (Danial and Nathan); it was heart-warming to see their interaction with every single teacher at the school... Also, please look at the dates for the positive reviews here and on google. The positive reviews are almost always in response to a negative one, meaning they have to request positive responses. This was a complete disappointment. Initially we were excited to have our 4-year-old start at Briar Rose. We did a tour with the owner Melanie and was presented with a service that sounded perfect. Our child had previously been in a bilingual daycare and was told that this was a bilingual school as well. My wife speaks fluent Spanish, and this is a requirement for my child. We had our questions like "How long has your staff been teaching?" and the answer was 7-8 years "Will my son continue his Spanish" and the answer "our teachers are bilingual". All of these questions were skillfully answered by Melanie. Two weeks later and my child's first day arrives. My wonderful wife does the drop off. She said it went well, but mentioned that the teacher seemed new. I come to pick up my son, at 4:30pm. Melanie said a quick hi, introduced me to the teacher (which I will not name, this review is not about her personally). The teacher was polite but too young to have 7-8 years of experience. I asked her how long she had been teaching and she replied "I have only had my own class for three weeks." We were never informed of a new instructor. We were told on our first visit the teacher had "personal issue" to take care of. After going over this with my wife we decided that this was not what we had been told, and simply wanted to cancel, get some sort of refund, and find another place. We wanted the refund due to being lied to. The teacher being brand new (not 7-8 years experienced) and not bilingual as Melanie had told me on a follow up phone call. Melanie was very disagreeable and offered several rebuttals always mentioning the contract. Unfortunately none of them addressed the bait and switch that took place. Melanie stated that they had passed on many students since my son had taken the spot, at the time we met, 10 days earlier, there was 7 openings in the Poppy Classroom, which at the time of this post an still be seen on their website. I was also told that "it is unfortunate that my son has a dad that makes quick assumptions." Which I took as an insult. As a parent, quick assumptions are necessary for the protection of any child. We can't sit in the classroom with them, we have to make assumptions. And still I was not making assumptions, just re-iterating the misinformation that I was given. Melanie continued to refer to the contract, and I continued to refer to back to the misinformation, regarding their school and what is advertised on the website. The site says Spanish speaking, with teacher Katie in the Poppy Classroom, Katie was not the teacher. The new teacher is not on the website all. Melanie is not on the website at all (correction, she is there but the photo isn't her). After further review many of the staff pictures are repeated with different names. I took screenshots of this information as it will most likely be remedied after this posting. It did not end well. Myself without a refund and them without a new student. This situation could have and can be easily resolved with a simple refund. Contract law is more important to them than customer service and honesty. Later Melanie attempted to trespass me from the property. I haven't even received a speeding ticket in 20 years. Ivette (the other owner) claimed I was "unacceptable, threatening and extremely demeaning" on a phone call that she wasn't on and I have recorded (100% legal in Oregon, and recommend everyone do due to situations like this). I never raised my voice and was extremely respectful. Ivette and Melanie immediately jumped to being victims the moment they had to confront adversity. I spoke directly to the officer involved and he also didn't understand their motives. As of this post they still have not returned all of my son's belongings.

My kids have attended this center for nearly a year and we have overall been very happy with the…read morecare they receive. Pros: - The teachers here are absolutely AMAZING! We have had the pleasure of working with most, and they are all kind and attentive to the students, but also very good at correcting and redirecting negative behavior. They respect the kids and make them feel loved and safe. My kids adore their teachers and so do we. Also the teachers are really good at honoring your requests (e.g. put on hats during outside time, change outfits during the day, apply cream at diaper change, etc.) - The new owner runs a tight ship and she cares about her business, teachers and the families they serve. We have found her to be respectful, reasonable and fair (for example, when they had to close the center due to power outages during winter storms, they adjusted their spring calendar to instead offer us care for a few of their spring professional development days). She is also always looking to improve her center and actively seeks feedback from parents. - They have a structured and detailed curriculum and do fun and educational activities with the kids every day. - I think they have pretty good hand-washing policy in the classrooms because kids don't get sick as often as they used to. -The food they provide is not gourmet, but definitely much better than the food offered at many other chain schools. They offer fresh, fruit twice daily and the food they serve is a mix of fresh, frozen and canned ingredients. The amount of sugar, carbs and processed food they offer is not too much in my opinion. They make most of the meals on site and they look and smells good. - This is a new SafariKid location and the building is newly renovated. So, naturally the toys, carpets, walls, etc. areclean and fresh. - The app they use is good and they share fun and detailed information about the kid's day and activity and you get to see pictures/short videos of them. Also, teachers are usually pretty quick in responding to you on the app if you post questions or requests. - They take the kids outside twice a day most days, and they have a covered area for when it is raining. - injuries and incidents are reported in a timely manner and with necessary details. - They offer sibling discount. - They have parent-teacher conferences twice a year to hear about how your kid is doing in class, and they have family activities planned for holidays and other occasions (e.g. Mother's day, Christmas, Easter, etc.) where you can interact with teachers and see your kids classroom Minor cons/notes: - I think this center is relatively expensive, and they require you to pay 1 month worth of tuition upfront upon enrollment. They also have a few misc. other fees (supply fee, registration fee, etc.). - They are closed most holidays and several days for professional development, Christmas-new year break, etc. This makes sense given that they are technically a preschool, but it's an adjustment if you are used to a daycare that is open every day. - Sometimes teachers forget to enter all the diaper changes/potty in the app. So, you won't necessarily know exactly how many times your kid pooped, for example. Not a huge deal, but sometimes this information is helpful when you are dealing with constipation, etc. - The outdoor space they have is not super green (no trees or greenery, just wood chips and toys). Also, the toddler outdoor space doesn't have much shade in the afternoon during the summer time, so the kids had to play in the scorching heat. - I think their hours are from 8am-5:30pm, and they don't serve breakfast (only morning snack is at 10am), so not great for those occasional days when you need to get a head start on your day or need some extra time at the end of the day. Again, this is in line with them being a pre-school, but it is something to consider. - They have a policy that drop off/pick up happens at the door and a chaperone takes your kid to and from the class. We were worried that our kids would freak out and it would be difficult to convince them to leave us at the door. This has not been the case and I feel like drop offs are now much faster and easier than before. In fact, our boys are always happy to go to their class and sometimes they go in without saying bye to us! It may be a bigger issue for kids that are younger and/or are new to the care. Also, I feel like the main con of this policy is that is reduces the chances you have to casually talk to the teacher about your kid, and getting to know the teacher. It feels a bit like you are isolated from the kids/teachers and you don't get to see the classroom and the space they spend their days. You are technically allowed to walk in when your child is in their care, but the door is always locked and it is clear that they do not expect you to come in under normal circumstances.
