Bottom-line Oreck Clean Home, the owner, and the Tech are useless in helping their customers. If they were correct in their decisions Hoover would not have sent me a brand new machine.
February 2018 Belt on machine broke and purchased a replacement from Oreck Clean Home,Hoover authorized dealer, in Westmont. Spoke with owner Michael Bonfield. Mentioned the on/off pedal was not working on my machine and talked about a snapped off clip/bracket for a wand attachment. Michael said to bring the machine in for repair and replacement of the clip/bracket as it was under warranty.
February 5, 2018 Brought the vacuum in for repair of brush pedal and replacement of broken clip on housing of machine
February 13, 2018 I went to pick up my machine and noticed that the bracket/clip was still broken. Asked why it was not fixed and tech, Alonso came out and told me that Hoover Warranty would not replace the part. Alonso said the machine worked and I didn't need the tool bracket! Machine was under warranty. I called Hoover Warranty and they told me that they would not talk to consumers and transferred me to Customer Service. Had to leave a voicemail for a manager.
February 14, 2018 Manager Juanita returned my call and told me that a broken clip/bracket would not warrant a repair or a replacement unit. I was puzzled; I didn't want a new unit. She said she would need to speak with the Hoover Warranty Department and the Westmont service center and would call me back on the 15th. I immediately called Oreck Clean Home in Westmont and spoke with Michael Bonfield, Owner, and told him of my ordeal. He was totally perplexed and told me he would speak with his tech Alonso and find out what the issue was. I also gave him Juanita's direct line to contact her as well. He said he would call me back the next day, February 15th but never did.
February 16, 2018 I called Michael since he had not returned a call as promised. I asked for status of my issue was. He told me that the bottom section of my machine was totally replaced with a new part from Hoover. I told him that there were scratches on the bottom and it couldn't have been a new part. He did say that maybe Hoover sent the part to him like that. He told me to bring back my machine to his store and he would straighten the dilemma out. I brought in the machine as he asked and he said he would call his tech Alonso to find out what Alonso's conversation with Hoover Warranty was in prior communications.
February 16, 2018, afternoon, Juanita from Hoover called and told me that Alonso called her and told her I had "dumped" my machine off at the store and I wanted it fixed. I let her know that Michael and I had spoken that morning and he had requested I bring the machine back so he could get the situation straightened out. I called Michael and asked him to explain. He had no idea why Alonso would tell her that I "dumped" off my machine. At the same time Alonso calls Michael on another phone and puts us all on speaker. Alonso then accuses me of breaking the brush pedal because we replaced the belt. I ask if he felt a customer is supposed to take a machine in for a broken belt. He said "yes". I let him know that I find that ridiculous as there is only one way to replace a vacuum belt and the owner's manual even gives detailed instructions to the consumer/owner in replacing the belt. If Hoover wanted the consumer to bring a vacuum in to a dealer for belt replacement they would state that in their manual and not publish instructions on how to replace a belt. I tell him that the pedal had nothing to do with the clip/bracket subject and that the clip snapped under normal use. I finally hear Juanita say to the tech and the owner, "can you tell me if this warrants a defect?" Neither Alonso nor Michael says a word. Neither would reply ,Alonso says, "Juanita just hung up". Alonso hangs up. I ask Michael why he didn't say something, he says, "I don't know". I tell him to call warranty and he tells me to call them. Then he tells me to call TTI the parent company of several floor care names. I tell him that really would be up to him. He tells me to just come and get my machine.
I went back to his store and picked up my machine.
I honestly don't know why the Tech, Alonso, felt I didn't need the wand tool repaired Not sure why Michael let his employee call the shots. I'm not sure why he didn't tell Hoover it needs to be replaced. I could not understand why Hoover would not step-up and honor their warranty.
I took matters into my own hands and filed a formal complaint. On April 3 Hoover called me and advised that they be sending me a brand new machine! I received it a week later. read more
