I wanted to update on my previous review. I was able to call and speak to the owners/managers and they were extremely apologetic. They gave me a gift certificate for a free service (the exact one I paid for) which was super kind of them. It was just that one masseuse that was rude and not professional. ( they said she may get fired). Im so relieved they were so kind about this situation as I love their services. BEST SPA IN San Diego. They always make time for me, and remembered my name. Such sweet, lovely workers. I almost never go to a Spa where they can understand how deep or light I need pressure, especially where I want more and less pressure, but they are perfect. I got my massage three days ago and I don't think I have felt this relaxed in my life. I feel like a new person. I got a facial this morning, and booked their hot stone for next week. I have a very mixed review of this place. I did a foot massage with Jessica a couple months ago and it was 5/5 stars. I would go back weekly if I could because of how amazing she was. However, when I went back with my boyfriend for a full body massage Jessica was not working so we had to book with someone else. We both left with similar bad experiences. We felt the massages were chaotic and the therapists were unskilled. We left in more pain than we arrived. Did the 120 minute deep tissue and got tight knots in my neck and shoulders completely worked. I have chronic tension in my neck, shoulders, and sometimes in my lower back and she was so great at targeting exactly where I told her to and delivering on what I specifically needed. I booked an hr massage 3-4, I work near by and I had an appointment at 4pm. The masseuses was 20min late, so I was only able to get a 30min. I told her neck and shoulders. She focus and my hips. The massage was so painful, worse 30min of my life. In the end she charge me more and I had a $10 off coupon for my first time and she told me I could used it, on top of that the minimum tip was 30%. I was hurt and I felt abuse with time and money. I went to relax and instated I was more stress, hurt and angry. read more

Repeatedly asked if the lady could go just a tiny bit harder or use her elbow, but for some reason it never changed. Was an hour of just running lotion with open palms. I am very particular with massage places because I get one regularly and frequently. When I find someone and they're really good, I keep coming back for more. I am very happy I finally made the appointment and experienced one of the best massages! The ladies were very nice and accommodating. I didn't have a hard time getting an appointment. We had a wonderful experience here on our recent trip to Coronado Island. My husband and I both woke up with stiff necks and were craving massages. We thought about going to an expensive resort for the full spa experience but when I came across Orchid Day Spa and read the good reviews, I figured why not give it a try! It is 1/3 (at least) the price of nearby resort spas. We each got 60 minute table massages and I believe they were $69 each. Possibly even a little less. They have all kinds of specials. This day spa is SO clean, like immaculate. This is not common at similar reflexology places. I was so impressed! The massages were AMAZING and we both left feeling so relaxed. They even brought us dried bananas, Kit Kat bars, and water as a snack at the end. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone visiting the island, in need of a massage or just some RnR. I was really impressed by my massage from May this evening. You don't get all the frills of a fancy day spa, but if you want a same-day treatment at a affordable price I would highly recommend. I paid $80 for 75 minutes and while May didn't speak a lot of English, she had magic fingers and checked in throughout the hour to make sure the pressure was ok. I have a lot of tension in my back and shoulders and May got in every nook and cranny. The biggest surprise was when she stepped out and came back with hot stones. My husband and I randomly were eating lunch next door, and I have been struggling with a tension headache for a few days. I asked if they'd accept two walk ins for a 30 minute massage, which they kindly did. I can only speak to my personal experience but my therapist was very kind and really took the time to relieve my pressure points. I really thought she cared about me feeling better after my visit. I had the worst foot massage at Orchid last week and I will say the massage therapist I had was awful. I caught her reading on her phone with one hand while massaging my foot with the other. She also had to leave me 4 times during the appt to answer the front desk phone. Finally, there was no private room for foot massages, they are right in the reception area. This review is based solely on the shady behavior of the owner of Orchid and Calla Lily Day Spas. I live in Coronado for June and July. I have back problems so I need deep tissue massages every 1-2 weeks. The first time I was in was in June. I had Carla do my massage. She did a great job and I left feeling better. So the next time I called to ask for Carla, the owner convinced me to go to her other location (Calla Lily) and promised me that this therapist would be better than Carla. I went over there for my 60 minute massage, only to find that it was the least relaxing massage I had ever received (up until the one I had on July 29th). There was MAJOR construction right outside of the spa. I could hear nothing but drilling to the point that the building was shaking. It felt like the longest 60 minutes of my life. When the massage was over, I looked at my watch to see that I had been enduring the noise for 90 minutes! I clearly scheduled a 60 min massage but the therapist told me she was told to give me a 90 minute massage. So I paid for the 90 minutes and immediately called the owner. She apologized and said she would refund me the difference between the 90 min and 60 min price. I still felt it was unfair but decided to agree to it and never return to the spas. Later on in the day, she had someone named Jenny call me. She said that they felt bad about my experience and that they were leaving me a gift card for a 60 minute massage. She did not tell me that the owner changed her mind and was indeed NOT refunding me for the extra 30 min I was given without permission. (I've been checking my card every day and no refund). So I went for my "free massage" on July 29th. I scheduled in advance with Carla and let them know I would be using my gift card that was left for me. When they called to confirm I would be there, I again said I would like Carla and I had a gift card there. When I arrived for my appointment, Carla had no idea about the gift card. I had to wait while she texted people and asked around to find out that I did indeed have a gift card for my massage. So the first 40 min of massage went really well. It was nice and quiet and Carla does a great job. Then next to my room I hear this loud man and the owner talking and next thing I know, the owner is KNOCKING on the door to pull my therapist out to talk to her. She was mortified and apologized. This happened 3 MORE TIMES with the owner either knocking or barging into my session. (Which I found out from my AZ therapist is illegal and needs to be reported to the board). I asked Carla what is going on?? She apologized and said there was a "mix up" with scheduling. Seriously a nightmare and the 2nd massage ruined by the unprofessional behavior of the owner. When I went to check out, I asked if I could tip Carla on my credit card since none of this was her fault. The owner asked how it was. I said great besides all of the terrible disruptions toward the end but it wasn't Carla's fault. She just looked at me. No apologies. She then asked me for my phone number?? I asked why and she said it was linked to my credit card? What? So now I keep checking my card for unauthorized charges. Bottom line, most unprofessional and nightmarish experiences with this owner. I will never set foot in any of these places again. Next summer I will go to Lavendar Day Spa (which is the recommended spa on the island). read more
