I am a senior citizen who recently moved from New England to Plainfield so I can be close to…read morefamily. I broke a tooth last weekend and called a number of dentists on Monday and Tuesday who were not able to see me this week. My daughter called Catonfield Dental and they had me come right in. Dr. Xu's assistant took an x-ray and he diagnosed the issue, prescribing medication until I can take the next steps. My daughter, a stay-at-home Mom, had to bring my 3 year old grandson to the office, and Dr. Xu and staff were kind and accommodating. I highly recommend this office!

The dentist and hygienist have been kind, but my experience with the reception, scheduling, and…read moreinsurance staff has been extremely disappointing. The conflicting information and the way my concerns were handled were unprofessional and unacceptable. At my first appointment, I was told I would receive a call explaining the copay. That call never came. I later spent approximately an hour in the back discussing whom I had spoken with instead of getting the payment information clarified. The conversation had not been documented, and identifying the employee should not have become my responsibility. Cely eventually gave me a breakdown about three weeks ago. To confirm what my son would owe, I called again before his appointment and was told there was no copay. As my son was leaving his appointment, Cely hurried after him to tell him he did have a copay and to have me call her. He was surprised because he had not understood that anything was due. I was then told that the receptionist does not know whether there is a copay. If that is the case, why was I told there wasn't one instead of being connected with someone who could verify it? That was exactly why I called again. Patients should not have to make repeated calls and still receive contradictory answers. These conversations need to be documented so staff can provide consistent information. When I asked for clarification, I received comments such as "Where were you?" and "That's why I gave you a breakdown." My son is an adult and can attend appointments independently. My whereabouts do not explain why the office gave us conflicting information, and a previous breakdown does not resolve the contradictory answer I received afterward. There was also an issue with appointment confirmation. I received a text asking us to confirm and replied that I had already done so. The response, "Well, you just confirmed," came across as dismissive and argumentative. I was simply informing the office that the appointment had already been confirmed. A polite clarification would have been enough. When I asked to speak with the manager, Erica, Cely said she was in a meeting and could not transfer me. Instead, she gave me an extension that turned out to be invalid. While I was unsuccessfully trying to reach Erica, she called me approximately two minutes later. This left me feeling misled and questioning the explanation I had been given. It also gave me the impression that Cely wanted to brief the manager before I could explain my concerns directly. Regardless, I should have been given a working way to reach management. I am a director at a large corporation and have experience communicating with patients. I understand the importance of professionalism, accurate documentation, and respectful service. I also understand that insurance estimates can change, but that does not excuse contradictory answers or dismissive responses when someone asks for clarification. I have dental insurance with good coverage and expect a clear explanation of any out-of-pocket costs. This office needs better communication between departments, proper documentation, and accountability for how staff speak to patients and their families. The kindness of the dentist and hygienist should be matched by the staff handling appointments and insurance.

One needs to have service that isn't done here (root canal), but I was provided with a list of referrals. BUT... I've had a molar where the filling fell out a while back. The pain was none to tolerable, but got realllllly bad the past couple weeks. I called on a Tuesday (they're usually closed), but Lisa and the Dr. were there doing work, and she got me right in, in the chair, and taken care of! How rare is THAT??? I ended up have an extraction (painless, til the novocaine wore off!) and I was sent home with necessary follow-up. I'm also happy that they do orthodontia. Son needs braces something fierce, and they're moving on it quickly. Another thing that I was impressed by was the caring and compassion. We have state aid, and no 'big deal' is made about it.

Absolutely no physical treatment or procedures took place. When I called to request a correction, the billing manager falsely insisted D9110 was an 'assessment/evaluation fee' (which flatly contradicts ADA standards) and repeatedly shut me down. When I called back to get her name, the front desk refused to provide it and deflected me to a voicemail. I have officially filed formal complaints. Self-pay patients, check your bills very carefully.

Today I had more extensive work done, including the extraction of a fractured tooth & placement of a temporary restoration, & Dr. Mo made the whole process much easier than I expected. She was very reasonable with the treatment plan & cost, explained everything clearly & was patient, kind & professional throughout. The temporary teeth already look nice & I know it may take a little time to adjust to the new look. I also really appreciated that Dr. Mo & her team stayed late to complete my treatment & never made me feel rushed. What impressed me most was that they never watched the clock, even though it was already around 9 PM, their focus was on completing the work properly & making sure I received excellent care before I left. I'm very grateful for the care I received & feel confident continuing my treatment with Dr. Mo. This is not the level of care and comfort anyone should have at the dentist. I will also be reaching out to the Orthodontist and let them know the type of care they referred her to. She just got comfortable enough with the dentist in order to get braces, and to have this lack of care, especially with new patients, and a person who's not even a week into braces is Beyond me. Cons: Do not go to them if you need custom work done. I started the process of an implant on front tooth 10/2022. They could not get the shape or shade of my implant correct to match my other front tooth. I have had to drive to Arlington Heights twice for a Color match- those goes 2 hours of my time, each time. Two times they had to drill off the implant to put a new one in. This is the 4th time going back to have this "fixed" and the implant color STILL doesn't match my color of my other teeth and now my tooth next to it is longer than the implant I get it it's my front tooth it's hard to match to the other front but when I suggested crowing the one next to it to match the doctor said no. I was also told that due to "my case" they will no longer do front crowns without doing 2 or 4 of the front. They also made me sign a waiver. Way to make me feel like shit for something they should have done right the first time. Have they been accommodating in trying to fix it each time- yes- but this has been a joke trying to get it fixed. I tried to be understanding but it's still not right and I'm not going back for a 5th time. So their goes 3k that I had to pull out of savings down the drain and I will have to have another dentist fix it.
