That solution was found here- a delicious bowl of steaming hot homemade cauliflower and cheese soup. And I paired that with an incredible grilled cheese. The soup was thick and creamy, with plenty of cauliflower in a rich, thick soup. It was the best I have ever had and if it was an all you could eat deal - I would still be there eating! I felt like I was sitting in a warm country kitchen. The place was decorated tastefully and warmly for the season. I will have to come back and check out their other soups. I loved the whole experience here and think I will come here often!! And the service was as warm and friendly as the atmosphere! Hats off to this comfort food jewel!

So after a quick Yelp search of lunch near me, the first hit was Olde Towne Cafe and Inn which had five stars. I decided to check it out. I have to say I drove right past it! I was expecting for something a bit more store-fronty this really looks like a house and I missed their signage. I turned around on Rail Street... got distracted at Porters but within five minutes was back on track to Olde Towne. They have a small parking lot which had a space, so I eagerly parked and popped i side. It is super cute. Very farm house-ish. Definitely a old house converted i to a bed and breakfast with most of the downstairs rooms dining. The kitchen can be seen from the room I sat in. It looked very clean and organized. I browsed the menu and decided on pancakes. They are served with bacon or sausage.... Im not a huge meat eater so I chose bacon and crumbled up on the pancake.... Ended up pushing it off the pancake and not eating it. Not their fault. Bacon is fine but Im just liking bacon less and less. Today was a no bacon day. Lol. However the pancakes! Wowzers. Huge. Fluffy. i got two that were each almost as big as the oblong platter they were served on. I couldnt finish all of it. They were delicious. I see why people give this place a good rating. The staff was welcoming and make you feel at home. Its just a good old fashioned breakfast/lunch spot. Not bougie at all... which to me is a plus "not" to be bougie. Sometimes you just need a place that feels like home. This is that place.

I knew I was going to love this place when I was greeted by the golden retriever Dakota when we arrived. Yet another lovely pooch greeted us at the door, Miss Wrigley. Loved having the pets around. The garden and home are amazing. Really quite lovely. They also have a beautiful pool with lounge area and a lovely big porch in the front of the home. We stayed in the Berllan Glen room. It's gorgeous. Big bedroom area, very large bathroom area, and private porch. The pictures speak for themselves. Some folks may need a step stool to get into the bed :) The reason for the one start deduction is that I went to put my lingerie in the bureau. I saw a bunch of women's stockings all curled up inside in a drawer. I assumed someone forgot their clothes. Then I opened other drawers. They too were all filled. Then I went to the end table chest of drawers on both sides of the bed, they were full. I finally found a few empty drawers in the armoire with the TV. I also could not find a closet door that would open. I eventually figured out there were two rods to hang clothes on on either end of the armoire. I believe the lovely hostess should've told us that there were clothes in our room and where we could hang or put ours clothes away. I found it off putting and quite odd to have someone else's clothes in the furniture. I've since asked other friends and family and they too agree that is quite odd. Anyway, the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Lovely spread. Apparently, you can arrange for dinner at the home, but you have to let the innkeepers know in advance. The house is chock full of items for decoration and has a tiny little gift shop where I did purchase some private label Earl Grey tea that's quite yummy. As a very nice touch they do have complementary sodas, water, and snacks for the guests. One can also purchase wine, if desired. There is also a coffee bar and tea bar. I was so pleased to see a tea bar because so few places have that. My only small issue with that is that there's no milk available--only in the mornings when the coffee bar has their half-and-half out. I didn't realize they have "operating" hours. The innkeepers are available until 9 at night, unless an emergency. I finally figured that out on a card they left in the room on the bureau with fresh water. It's about a seven minute ride to the actual Town of Granville. The town is a must see! The Whit's ice cream is delicious. All in all, it's a lovely place, except for the fact that I had that issue with putting my clothes away.

We stayed in Room 2 on the second floor, very handsomely appointed in aqua and coffee tones, with silver accents. The room was lovely and very comfortable, both the bedroom and the en suite bathroom. I enjoyed reading a book in the chair by the window. The backyard was another highlight. There is a small deck, a fireplace, an English-style walking garden, and a main seating area with candles and comfortable camp chairs. In warm weather, it's perfect either for unwinding or for extending a gathering at the end of the day. Apparently the proprietor brings food in the morning? I was not awake in time to witness this; perhaps it is the breakfast fairy. In any case, the spread was noteworthy: besides the drinks, snacks, yogurt, fruit, and cereal available around the clock, there were uncooked eggs, miniature bagels, coffee cake or banana bread, and a variety of seasonal fruit. No matter how heterogeneous your group, everyone will find something to satisfy him- or herself. Sometimes it's the little things--such as the rubber duck in the shower stall, the small fish tank on the kitchen counter, and the soft jazz CD playing in the living room on our arrival. There was a basket of highly watchable DVD movies and a shelf of local-interest books. But the important things stand out too: the entire place was immaculate and the proprietors seem to take good care of both the property and the guests. This is a very strong 4.5. Some of our housemates were staying there for the third time, and I would not hesitate to return with them next time.

The kitchen has filtered water from the fridge, keurig coffee, microwave, and dishes. There are snacks like popcorn, crackers, yogurt, and cereal available all day. In the morning, they put out a fresh pastry (different and delicious each day!), toast, beautiful fresh fruit, and hard boiled eggs. The room had a hair dryer, bar soap, makeup wipes, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. We also had a smart tv so I could log into my own Hulu account. There is a pretty park and lots of little shops and restaurants within walking distance, including a major grocery store. Could not have imagined a better place...I wish I lived there!

As soon as we found out, my wife called and was told that it was no problem, that there is a waiting list, and once it is cancelled, we would get a refund. We would be charged a $35 fee, though. Having not yet received a confirmation email, my wife called again, asking about the refund. And she talked to a very rude person who said we were not getting a refund because it included a holiday. Also snapped "it is clearly written in the confirmation" several times and completely ignored the question of someone previously giving us false information. The excuse was "I am a small business and need to survive"... but rings very hollow because there is no doubt it was re-rented, in fact, she is double dipping and making twice the money. Nice little racket, if you ask me. While I did miss the holiday clause in the confirmation (which was made 35 days before the arrival date, so not much time to cancel), the fact that we were told we were getting a refund is a huge problem. If we were told the truth, we would have made arrangements to at least partially attend. And if this is the way they treat customers, I am wondering if I didn't dodge a bullet by not going. Needless to say, I will never patronize this business.

We decided to give it a shot seeing as how it was in a prime location and you just could not beat the rates when compared to the chain hotels. The following is a review of our stay in this charming accommodation. After a smooth flight from Orlando, we were greeted by our hosts who provide free round trip shuttle service to the local airports. Their adorable dog, a dachshund named Patti, keeps you company on the ride..(here's a tip, she loves to curl up in a travel pillow so if you have one, make sure to share!). When we arrived at the bed & breakfast we unloaded our bags and were led to our room. We had chosen the 'Basement Oasis' room as it was their largest suite complete with full bath and mini bar. There was definitely plenty of room for us to settle in and not feel cramped as you so often do in typical hotel rooms. Everything was meeting our expectations until we opened the media cabinet only to discover that our television had a screen not much larger than my smart phone. Thankfully I had brought my iPad along on the trip or things could have gotten ugly pretty quickly. We unpacked our things and headed upstairs to chat with our hosts before heading out. We were informed that there was an abundance of baked goods for us whenever we were hungry..I highly recommend the apple pie! Our hosts even informed us that they had an extra vehicle for us to borrow if we felt so inclined. Naturally, we took them up on this offer. In return we helped them put up their Christmas tree as a thank you for such a kind gesture. We even offered to cook a meal for some friends & family of theirs and ours..boy, did that guest list get long quickly! It was quite a success and everyone had a lovely time. Our trip was wonderful filled with lots of family time and meeting my boyfriend's nephew who was by far the cutest and best part of the entire trip! On our last day we were met in the morning with a lovely breakfast and a reading of the Christmas story from Good Book. After breakfast we were asked to strip our beds which we felt was an unusual request seeing as how we were their guests but we gladly did so seeing as how kind they had been. We loaded up our bags, exchanged goodbyes & were even given fresh citrus for our flight home. Overall, I would highly recommend this quaint B&B to anyone visiting this area. The hosts have a plethora of ideas for ways to fill your day and don't forget to explore the coupon book for discounts to local eateries! I know we'll be staying here again, so should you!
