They carry fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers, so prices can be a little higher since they're reselling, but the produce is always clean, colorful, and great quality. Beyond the basics, they also sell indoor and outdoor plants, unique brands you won't usually find at grocery stores, and specialty items like quail eggs, duck eggs, and a nice variety of cheeses. I even came across some vegetables I'd never tried before, like black kale, which was new to me. The staff are always super friendly and outgoing. I've visited a few times now and never had an issue with any of the products. For me, this market is an easy five stars.

Out of the 3 farms that I've visited recently, Rock Garden was probably my favourite, but that…read moredoesn't say much. This "farm" was more like a garden centre + a nice grocery store that sells primarily produce, a good share of baked goods, & some bottled items like preserves, maple syrup, jams, honey, etc. There was no "pick your own" strawberries. At least none that I saw anyway. What sorta leaves a sour taste in my mouth is that farms always promote this support, "Eat Local" mentality, but their prices seem on-par with Whole Foods: 3 tri-coloured bell peppers - $7+, a dozen free-range eggs - $4.50, a pint of strawberries - $6, a pint of peaches/nectarines - $5 (almost $1/ea), etc. I just had an egg this morning and it tasted like a regular, store bought egg. Nothing discerning about it. I also bought a 8" peach pie and wished that I had chosen another fruit. As I cut into the pie, I noticed that all the peach slices were all spread out, covering may 50% of the filling. The rest of it was clear, sweet, gelatin. My friend get a Saskatoon berry and the filling was more consistent. So if you're planning to get a pie, SKIP the peach! I thought that buying straight from the source would be cheaper/same prices at the grocery store, but BETTER quality, but I guess I was wrong.

We went on a rainy day, but the experience made up for the weather. We spent time walking around the pumpkin patch and corn maze. There were so many fun, unique pumpkins. The corn maze was really fun to figure out, and there were some cute little paintings propped up throughout. The vibe was really nice, it definitely got me ready for the fall season. There was a little market selling organic foods, and of course my favourite, different flavours of jam. I'll definitely be making my way back here this fall!

Absolutely!!!

We regularly get the cookies and scones from Happy Baker. I love the fresh strawberries and cherries when they are in season. We enjoy samples too and picked up some fancy cheeses. They have room for more vendors inside. Aside from coffee and cookies, the food is mainly for take home. It would be nice to have brunch options because the backyard is a beautiful shady picnic spot. There is plenty of parking and the lake is a short walk away.

[Apostrophe talk - start] I got this listing changed from…read moreFarmer's Market to Farmers' Market. As of late, I have been thinking about apostrophes and there are two correct methods here: - Farmers' Market (genitive), which is how Lakeview Farmers' Market employs the apostrophe. A bunch of farmers belong to this market. - Farmers Market (attributive). Farmers may not all own the market, but the word acts as an adjective to identify the market type. Farmer's Market would indicate that it's a market for a single farmer, which is usually not the case. Or, it could be my friend, Mr Farmer, who owns this market. He doesn't, though. He's still in the IT field! [Apostrophe talk - end] Last Sunday, I dropped by Lakeview Farmers' Market and did some damage during the brief hour that I was here. It was rare for me to be out on a Sunday, but I'm so glad that I did. This market is open from May 30 to October 10, 2021. Its hours are from 10 am till 2 pm. It's roughly fifteen minutes by car from my workplace. It's simply driving southbound on Dixie Road until there isn't any road left. I got there at 1 pm. I didn't have any difficulty finding a prime parking spot steps away from the entrance, likely because I got here towards the end of its Sunday operation. There were many volunteers present. One was waving me into the market itself as I drove in. It puzzled me. I actually asked him whether he was signalling me to park in the first row, because his hand gesture was saying something totally different. He confirmed my suspicion. I backed into a spot and then headed over to the market. There is an informational booth with pretty flowers. You can pick up details about local events and more there. Art of Bean sells coffee and proceeds to go running the market. I love that concept. It's too bad that I'm not a coffee drinker to support that cause more. Instead, I'm definitely a shopper and bought more stuff than I had anticipated! This market has quite the variety, from whiskey and beer, to jams and samosas. It's a small market compared to some that I have visited, but it's mighty in quality and heart. I racked up the following goodies on my market visit: - A bottle of blackcurrant kombucha from Cathy's kombucha - Chanterelle and oyster mushrooms from Fresh and Tasty Mushrooms - Lemon shortbread cookies from Shanny's Shortbread Cookies - A chocolate croissant from Tatsu's Bread - Low-sugar peach jam from Joanne's Urban Pantry I have consumed everything. Top notch. So good. I need to return! I'm out of most items and the week's not over! Perhaps I enjoyed this visit more because I hadn't been to a market in a while. It's quite the gem in Mississauga. I'm so glad that I dropped by and hope to again soon. (293)

I love driving, but the traffic on 400-series highways on the weekend can be brutal. Yesterday, I decided to go drop by Backed by Bees in Burlington. I was in Barrie. I left at 4 pm. Backed by Bees closes at 6 pm on Saturday. Am I crazy? That's a rhetorical question, but I'll answer it for you. Yes! What time did I get there? 5:55 pm. OMG! I parked next to the main entrance. I probably made my own parking spot, but I was the only person there besides two other cars in the lot. My guess was that they were owned by staff members. I love the look of this business as you drive up the country road. It's yellow, bright, and modular. You simply can't miss it! I walked up the steps while admiring the plants and cute patio area. I heard voices. No, not in my head, from inside the store. I was happy. I opened the door and was greeted by two staff members. I was so relieved! I thanked them for being open and checked in with the nice woman. She let me know that I could choose two meads from the fridge: hopped and cherry. She was also kind to say that I could take my time browsing. Yay! I loved everything that I saw, from cheese and jams, to nicely crafted wooden boards for charcuterie boards. From pet food, to medium veggie bundles, you can find the coolest items for you or a gift for someone cool. I especially was enamoured by mason jar pump caps. Brilliant! I picked out my two cans of mead. I fell in love with the jams and got a bottle of apple peach. I was so excited. Dave, the owner, helped check me out. He asked if I had had mead before. Coincidentally, I had a mead-tasting session at Ontario Honey Creations a few hours ago. Dave and those owners know each other, and he let me know that his mead isn't as strictly made as theirs, and that his is closer to a cider or cooler. That's so me that it works! He was delightful to chat with. He was so understanding with my drive down, as he has family members who did the same run earlier in the day. He let me know that his store is three weeks old. I love the minimalistic, modular design. It's pleasing to these eyes. He also indicated that he's working on installing taps in his store, so that people can drink mead out on the patio and have that bar vibe. I love that it, especially in the countryside. I paid for my bottle of jam with a debit card. We had problems getting the tap to work, so I inserted it into the device on the counter. Success! I got my receipt texted to save some paper. I thanked them both for staying open a bit later for me. I truly appreciated it! They left shortly afterwards. I ended up taking some outdoor photos and soaking up everything in a slower fashion before getting into my car to drive eastbound. I have only had the hopped mead so far. I dig it! Dave suggested that it's best when chilled and it is. It hit the spot on a cooler summer night. I am a fan and will return. I appreciated the mead, chat, and humanness on Saturday. I had a terrific experience despite blowing into the store like a madwoman. It was great visiting a part of Burlington that I knew nothing about beforehand. (324)
