Very fun day apple picking at Downy's! Definitely recommend getting there early to grab a good parking spot and get in and out before it becomes overcrowded. Plenty of apples to pick from when we went and it was a lovely day. Between 4 of us, we purchased a 20lb bag to collect our apples in.

Highly recommend visiting Downey's Farm Market in October! Great spot with lots of activities including cart racing, jumping pillows, wagon rides, feeding animals, shows, corn maze and more! They also have food trucks around and a store where you can buy goodies to take home (like these donuts pictured). They have super cute photo opp spots as well, and overall such a fun, wholesome, nice fall vibe.

07/08/2023 - very sweet berries but very small and scarce. You will need to work hard to find enough for a small basket.

Came on July 8 2023 and the farm was extremely busy and the strawberry fields very picked through. The berries are quite sweet but small and hard to find. You will need to squat and look very hard to find good berries. Took a long time to fill a small basket. Raspberries were plentiful however. Wish I could have checked out the rest of the farm's features like the petting zoo but doing all farm activities other than U-pick was an extra $14 charge per person. Wouldn't recommend people coming for strawberries anymore this season unless there are more fields they plan to open in better condition.

We visited the farm play area and had a blast! My toddler loved the goat mountain slide and ran up and down 20 times. It was such a fun day at the farm. They have a great selection of activities for your kids and it's a great place to make memories!

What is your favourite thing to do in fall? I love going for long drives and enjoying fall colours. However I also equally love going to this beautiful Downey's Farm. It is a picture perfect and dream place for photographers. The atmosphere here is always so welcoming and fantastic. This farm is great for an amazing family time and you can purchase amazing baked goodies, local produce and of course pumpkins. They also sell wine!! They are famous for their pumpkin donuts and those are a must try. Fall or any season of year, this is a must try place!!

Downey's farm is great, theres no admission charge. Went in for strawberry picking. Baskets are sold, 10$ per 20L. It's a great activity to brig the kids to eat while you pick. Strawberries were big, I recall my childhood experience at Andrew Scenic Farm yielded smaller sized strawberries. For COVID safety, there was a handwashing station by the store. But soap not stocked. There does not seem to be an attendant there making sure a sanitizing station is available.

We went during Thanksgiving and as cute as it was to see the pumpkin patch...it was way too crowded. We did line up for the pumpkin donut which was totally worth the 40min wait! We also got the chocolate butter tarts which taste like chocolate lava cakes . The staff members were patient even with all the screaming babies and toddlers...kudos to them. Worse part was all the strollers especially in the market considering it's already small.

Highly reccomend if you love animals and farm-like environment! I came here twice separately with my parents and boyfriend. The first visit was with my parents - we just wanted to take a picture with all the pumpkins outside their farm, it's instagram worthy! We spend maybe half or one hour here. We also got tools to make our small pumpkins! It was so cute! You can buy variety of pumpkins and they got a shop there as well you can go inside and check out what they have to offer. The second was with my boyfriend. This time we went inside because we saw the animals. My boyfriend suggested we should go and see them. I forgot how much was the ticket for the two of us, he bought little treats that we can feed for the animals. We saw goats, alpaca, donkey and more. There was a play set for the kids as well which was cute! Did i join and got on some playsets? Maybe (wink, i did haha). They even have corn field maze. It was such a wonderful experience! Our fave was the alpaca, when we came again, the alpaca recognized us haha! We named him brownie even though the alpaca doesn't have an actual name hehe! If you are looking for a cute adventure with friends, family or with significant other - try this place outtt!!

It's Fall season, and a good time to pick a nice plump pumpkin for Halloween. There's a handful of pumpkin markets around town but Downey's Farm has one of the most picturesque pumpkin picking patches in front of its farm. We heard this place was packed on weekends, so we opted to come on a weekday morning. But darn, there were so many school buses here on field trips and plenty of families here as well. In the farmyard, the family fun play area has activities geared towards young kids including a wooden tractor, truck, ship, slides, hamster wheel, tire mountain, haystacks, petting zoo, go-kart, and paintball (extra). I had a go with the hammer at the high striker but there wasn't much else for families that didn't bring along young kids. We visited on a day that was quite hot, so we opted to forgo the big corn maze (at least the sign had some humour). We also saw an empty wagon as there seemed to be no fruit picking on this day. We didn't stay long but took our share of family photos. The farmyard admission on weekdays was $10.50 per person compared to $15.50 on weekends (supply & demand), which can get costly for families that end up trying limited activities. The actual market shop included the farm's bakery and winery. That was worth a short visit, we actually found a wine lightheartedly named "Screaming Jackass"...

Full ticket price yet broken or closed attractions. Most benches and tables removed. Disappointing.

I love coming to Downeys in the Fall! There's something about seeing all the pumpkins lined up at the front of the barn and seeing everyone happily taking photos with them that instantly brings a smile on everyone's faces. I usually go during Thanksgiving weekend so it is even more crowded but that kind of adds to the fun and makes it feel even more festive. Upon walking into the barn, it's like a wonderland of food everywhere you look. At the counter upon walking in, you can also get hot drinks like cider. They have stacks on stacks of boxes of different kinds of tarts such as butter tarts, pecan, raisin to name a few and pies like apple, pumpkin, berry etc. Pie and tart prices are a bit higher than your average bakery in the suburbs but it is all really fresh and I don't mind splurging once in a while on freshly baked goods. They also replenish their supply of pumpkin donuts (so good!), different kinds of freshly baked bread and flatbreads throughout the day. They also have an assortment of jams on some shelves and frozen pies in freezers. Come early for more selection as it gets crazy busy during afternoons here. After paying for items, you'll notice upon walking out the back part of the barn that there is an outdoor play area for kids with some organized games, petting zoo and corn maze visits happening on weekends. Worth a visit at least once especially for families and highly recommend coming here in the Fall for a fun Downeys experience.

This place is a blast to go to!!! We went during Pumpkinfest. I spent 6 hours here with my three kids and never got bored. We probably would have stayed longer but it was closing time. I did go through the week so I'm not too sure how expensive it is here on the weekend. For myself and three kids I paid $40 to get in. I kind of wish I was a kid so I could have partaken in the activities. The Big Slide, Zip lining, bouncing balls and so much more! The petting zoo is darling! The animals are so friendly. They walk right up to you when they see you. I even saw an Alpaca and a full sized cow. The activities are spread out very well through out the place. My kids very much enjoyed the place! They didn't want to leave. The corn maze is quite interesting. The paths are narrow so you do struggle a bit with a stroller and let me tell you I didn't go too far in because we were really confused on how to get out. The front of the farm is definitely picture worthy with all the pumpkins in front. It's such a beautiful scene and you can definitely see that I got mine. I did check out the store but when I saw the pizza that looked frozen I was like hell no.. I was excited for the fry truck but unfortunately, it wasn't operating because I was there through the week. I wish their would have been some more food options but overall we had a ton of fun and we will be back!! Can't wait!!!

Possibly one of the top pumpkin patches to hit up in October! They have everything from a petting zoo to apple picking to a bounce pit! We couldn't go to everything but we really enjoyed the apple pies (crumble and classic) and how much the farm has to offer. We had a great time there. Would go again just to go on the bounce pit lol.

Some of the stands aren't actually from farms (from what I hear) but just people that buy large quantities of produce and go to market to sell it. I didn't buy anything from those guys. I DID, however, buy from a bunch of different families/farmers. It was so wicked cool! I was really overwhelmed by the size of the setup and the number of stands. I most appreciated the guys that offered samples of their fruits and veggies. In fact, I wound up just saying "yes" to buying everything they fed me as I took each euphoric bite. I'm not gonna lie... not all of the vendors are very friendly. I actually felt that the majority were not so. That was a bit of a letdown. But I spent enough time passing through the lanes and chatting with a handful of people that I still had a warm and welcoming experience. The market is open Friday and Sunday from about 7 or 8 am until about 4 or whenever they pack up and will run to October. I know where I will be doing my shopping for the next couple of months!

I've…read morebeen going there every weekend this summer and I've developed great relationships with actual farmers and enjoyed the fresh Ontario harvest. Like most farmers market recently, there are some resellers here. I would say there's only 2 stalls here that are 100% resellers and have no idea how food gets to their hands. There are probably 4 other stalls that sell repackaged vegetables and half their crops. From my experience, there are 4 real farmers that are phenomenal. My favourite vegetable stall that is owned by an actual farmer is against the southern part of the lot and right beside the chicken/egg farmer. He specializes in leafy vegetables and the occasional root vegetable. I love his baby spinach. It's ridiculously fresh (the spinach still has the damp earth on it from being picked the day before). I normally hate spinach but I found this spinach to be tender and almost sweet in taste. It didnt have that awful bitter taste or that awful rough film on left on your teeth. I guess only old spinach does that. Their Boston lettuce is HUGE and actually flavourful. They also sell rainbow beets in the spring and early summer. When roasted, it's nearly candy sweet and it has that really neat zebra stripe orange and white appearance. There is a fruit only farmer closest to the corner of East Mall and Burnhamthorpe. She specializes in stone fruit and her peaches are so sweet and juicy. She pretty much sells seasonal tree fruits. I've bought pears, plums, nectarines, and peach from her. Each time I'm amazed how much better they are compared to the stores. Its so much juicier. Another fruit only farmer is right in front of the deli truck and in the centre aisle. I really love this one as I've bought strawberries, blueberries, cherries, peaches, nectarine and tons of apples... pretty much any and all fruits here. I love this vendor because they're so personable. If you're not sure, they even let you try the fruit before buying. Often they have specials and they'll be the cheapest than any other farmer (and sometimes even much cheaper than supermarket). Once in a while they'll have something unusual and it's great to see. They have fresh walnuts (even with the natural shell), quince, gooseberries, and chestnuts. There's also a little deli truck outside the library steps and it's manned by a cute Eastern Euro couple and they smoke and cure everything themselves. Their pancetta is perfect and so is their bacon. An honourable mention goes to one of the resellers actually... though they are not farmers, their prices and vegetable offering are better than supermarket. It's just as fresh as any other farmer stall but their prices are more inline with supermarket prices. They also are super generous with their sizes and they always remember me. Their service is always warm and friendly. I really love this place and I'll continue to come back to support the Ontario farmers. Though it is not the cheapest option, my tastebuds love it!

The market runs from June - October and runs along Main Street North and Main Street South. It only runs from 7am - 1pm, so make sure to get there early so you don't miss out on all the fresh goodies. It was a beautiful June day when I stopped by and the weather was perfect! There were plenty of local vendors displaying a variety of products - empanadas, arepas, ice cream, fruits, veggies, breads, and so much more! My aunt and I split a chicken pupusa, which is an El Salvadorian flatbread topped w/ a variety of meats/veggies. It's similar to an arepa if you've had that before. I LOVED it. It was fun to watch them knead the dough, throw it in the fryer and make it fresh right in front of you. We also grabbed some ice cream and some empanadas, all of which were delicious and perfect for the warm June day. One of my flaws (or good qualities...depends who you are) is wanting to buy every single market vendor product I see, especially if it's food. This market was no exception - everything looked delicious! Luckily, I had my grandma around to keep me in check...although she isn't much better than me. If I'm back to visit my fam in the GTA in the summer again, I'll definitely be coming back here.
