Staff are friendly and helpful, there's a small fundraising area of used books where you can almost always find something interesting for a buck, parking is usually decent, the book selection is extensive and current, and there's a lot of community offerings like art classes, tai chi classes, a seed bank, and a walking group! Island residents are very lucky to have such a great resource.

The daily story times are engaging and fun, consistently packed and with staff that are full of energy, smiles and at the ready to clap and cheer for everyone! A great selection of books, especially for children and youth, taking up two floors!

While the building (the downtown location) is old, the books are very well organized and kept clean. My only "complaint" is their hours on the weekend. They are only open from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday. There was a community knitting project set up in front of a magnificent fireplace! I was amazed that such a small island would have such a beautiful, well stocked library. The teen area was tres cool with a great selection to choose from. And there were many little cozy areas to read a book while waiting out a storm. Sometimes she will have some items on hold and we will pick those up too. They also have an area with books for sale, which we have perused on occasion just for light reading or looking for presents. The movie section is located just inside the front door and movies are shelved by category. I find this convenient if not familiar with the movie titles, it gives at least a genre to start the search for a good watch. There are self check-out and worker check-out options. We typically go the self check-out way. A returns slot is located outside the main entrance to the library. Parking is available in both a larger lot and in a few quick visit (15 minutes or less style thing) spots. The quick visit spots have less of an incline between then and the entrance of the library, which is helpful if anyone in the visiting party has difficulty with inclines.

They have so many things that the offer, most people don't even know about them. Also, they sell books in the lobby that are one of the best book selections around. People that read interesting material bring there books there to donate. I've purchased one or two books every time I'm there. And those prices beat out Value Village and Goodwill. This is a library worth the trip and you'll enjoy the nice quiet experience and the friendly and helpful staff! Highly recommend making this part of your days.
