Over the years, the etching was coming loose from the matting, it was slightly wrinkled and the frame became worn. I wanted to have it rematted and possibly get a new frame.The owner of South Shore Gallery talked to my husband and me for probably half an hour, seeming excited about working on the piece, looking it over and also suggesting things she thought we could do. She told us she'd have it completed in about 10 days and she would call us. We left confident that we had come to the right place. We paid half down, as requested. To make a long and frustrating story short, after about two weeks, I called to inquire about it and it was not done; she said she'd hurry and get it done. When it was ready, I was shocked that she could call it ready -- the color of the mat was nothing like our original choice. Worse, the mat partially covered the artist's signature and the name of the piece. And, you can see it is not flat in the frame; it has ripples. Further, a label that originally was on the back, which she said she would save for us, was not there. Just wanted to warn others to be careful if you have items that are valuable to you.

Every room was full of rare treasures carefully curated by the owner, being a deft artist, who understands how to create and how to collect with expertise. I found many things I loved and managed to purchase what I couldn't live without. The building is an 1800's masterpiece and every room is a world to explore. The owner David, gave me lots of personal insights and anecdotes on his inspirations that led to journeys, to creating, and finally to acquisition. There are many masterworks here from tribal African sculpture to European modern masters.There is something for everyone here truly. Go on your own journey there and find your favorites. The location is also great, as it's a quick Uber to the heart of downtown or to the airport, and a very short walk to lots of fun bars. I also recommend a longer walk to St Josaphat Basilica, which was recommended by Mary Ellen and also some other guests. It was probably the most beautiful church I've seen in the US. This place is an absolute steal, and staying here made our relaxing and adventurous weekend away even more memorable.

I was impressed with the drawings of colleges and stadiums available by state. I loved the framed display with a diploma and the college/university drawing on top. I think I'm going to have to get that for both my bachelors and masters degree. It may have been decoration but it looks sharp. The large collection of stickers also caught my eye.
