I came to Orange County Farm Supply specifically to pick up the FoxFarm Japanese Maple Fertilizer. The woman who answered my call was friendly and helpful, she even did a quick stock and price check to confirm they had it before I made the trip. I wasn't quite sure what to expect before visiting, but as it turns out, this isn't a nursery, which makes sense since their name clearly says, "Farm Supply." While they do have a small selection of herbs and vegetable seedlings for sale, the majority of their inventory focuses on potting soil, soil amendments, fertilizers, and other gardening and farm supplies. I was really impressed by their fertilizer selection. They carry brands that can be hard to find elsewhere, like Royal Gold, and they have the full lineup of FoxFarm fertilizers - which is exactly why I came here for the Japanese Maple blend. I also grabbed a few redwood plant stakes, as they were reasonably priced for what I needed. That said, their potting soils do seem to run on the pricier side. For example, I've seen FoxFarm Ocean Forest for less at other locations. However, if you're ever on the hunt for a specialty potting soil or amendment that's tough to find, this is definitely a place worth checking because chances are, they'll have it. The staff isn't overly warm, but they are helpful when you ask questions. Parking is easy, with plenty of spaces on site and in the adjacent lot. read more

They have the supplies I want indoors, and the folks know what you come in to ask about without fail. One disappointment is the dismal drip system components. The outdoors guy will not engage, beyond loading the amendments into your trunk. The plant options are increasingly limited. What they have are not being watered and are wilted or bolting. OFS has a bounty of soil options, but customer service was subpar. Didn't seem like anyone was happy to be there (at least the three people I came into contact with), wouldn't make eye contact either. It was like they do everything they can to avoid you. I even looked at one of the ladies and said "good morning" she looked at me and kept walking. After I felt that vibe I left without making a purchase. That being said, I was impressed with the new product options they had available from when I was there previously. This place is pretty cool, and the customer service is what you would expect from a family run institution. Very friendly and helpful. I put a couple of chicks on hold because they let you do that. Didn't know they sold baby chicks! I mainly went because I needed pine shavings for my brooder. They had 12 cubic feet for around $20. Pretty good prices. Check them out. read more

Hallelujah!!! Thanks be to God!!! We have new growth!!! After 2 months of stunted growth as she healed from the root rot she's made through and finally growing news leaves! I was worried for a min because the last few weeks she started dropping almost all her remaining leaves! (Ron Actually said that would happen so I tried to not worry so much!) This graft is from my good friend Bill Stroman's he passed away recently it's from his don gillogly avocado tree That developed root rot I came here after stoping by other nursery the day before looking for Garden Pho but was told and recommended something else's by Ron "Jump start" and how I should treat the root rot Treating Root Rot: *After I found out it was root rot I repot in Gary top pot and did a combination treatment of hydrogen peroxide, grow more jump start, I'm sooo happy and grateful! Me and my husband attempted to browse what Orange County farm supply has to offer. Upon arriving to the location some unfriendly staff members one wearing glasses (male) and a tall lady also wearing glasses approached my husband and I. The female staff member asked "can I help you with something." In the most annoyed tone. As my husband replied "yes I am looking for fertilizer." To which the male staff member replied "OKAY and? We're closed it's all locked up." My husband and I did not even bother replying and walked out. If ur big on ur customer service don't expect much from this place. I love the changes they have been incorporating as they continue to grow online with their education series and social media presence. I buy seeds, starters, plastic trays/pots, fertilizer, compost, potting soil, and overall great advice. Everyone I have engaged with has been great, but the most insightful person has been Mikey who genuinely gets me hyped for growing! I need him out at the farmers markets on Saturday preaching to the people that they can start a garden and with Orange County Farm Supplies. He has really gotten me on the good potting soil and compost! I swear if you had him at the Farmers Market with basic supplies, people would be going home and planting it up. You guys have so much to offer and being out in the community sharing what you have would be epic! What I wish we had here was a native plants section! We need that BIG TIME. If you look on https://calscape.org/california-nurseries the closest nurseries that have native plants is in San Juan or Sun Valley. With so many people ditching their lawns, having a true Native Plant section at your store would be the go to spot. Mikey had some great recommendations for companion planting but you guys didn't have Native Plants that I could put amongst my other plants. I wanna keep investing in the local economy, so bring in the big time natives! I've been coming here for years, but I'm now writing this Yelp review to shout out Mikey, who is the coolest plant nerd and gave me excellent advice on getting a more successful crop of strawberries. Everyone here is very knowledgeable, but Mikey knocks it out of the park on customer service. Make sure to sign up for the weekly plant delivery mailers so you know what's in stock. They also have an exceptional selection of boutique gardening products that are hard to find in stores (GardenStraw, Vegepods, Milorganite, soil with biochar additive, earthworm castings, you name it) so give them a call to see if they have what you're looking for. read more

Their staff is very helpful for any type of gardening questions. If you own a truck, you can purchase bulk compost (about a ton, I'd guess) for $20, plus a $20 deposit on the giant bag it comes in (you get the deposit returned when you bring their giant bag back). TIP: If you buy their bulk compost, BRING A TARP TO COVER THE COMPOST ON THE RIDE HOME!! They also have supplies galore, lots of veggie plants (I went in late spring/early summer), seeds a'plenty, high-quality soil amendments, hay bales, tools, and they even had some baby chicks for sale. It's a small outfit: don't expect a giant big-box store, but they have some nice displays of low-cost ideas for seating and planting. read more

I was searching for a weed killer that kills weeds but won't harm by newly planted St Augustine grass and was introduced to this store. I called and the gentleman on the phone told me they have it. Drive in and it's a rather small store but they have a decent stream of customers on a Saturday 30 mins before closing. The workers there were very nice and helping to answer questions you have. They have a small but good selection of peppers, herbs and veggies for you to plant. I bought five other and the prices were much better than Home Depot or Lowe's, at $1.75 to $2.50. I bought my house about 5 years ago and it had a beautiful Bermuda lawn. I have been trying to keep it that way for years and even hired Tru-Green, which was a disaster. Every year there has been a different challenge, and this year it is a very diverse crop of weeds. Big box stores and internet searching left me with as many questions and unknowns as I started with. I found OC Farm Supply, and I am so happy I did. I brought samples of my weeds and Chris spent a very long time explaining things in a way that made sense and put everything together from past googling and taking with others that are less knowledgeable. He told me how to fix all of the individual lawn issues and put together a plan. They have products that aren't available in the big box stores and are more expensive on Amazon. They were out of a few items, which is not uncommon these days due to supply chain issues, so I will happily make another trip when the items are back in stock. They told me I could call or text any time and they will be happy to help. I believe it is also worth mentioning that while I was talking with Chris, he diagnosed several other peoples issues, which was amazing to watch. One person had an issue with a eucalyptus tree and Chris drew a picture and explained it was a tortoise beetle. Sure enough the customer showed a pic that matched his drawing and the beetle was front and center in the pic! They have a wide variety of starter plants, flowers, seeds, fertilizer, tools etc. I was very impressed with the different varieties of plants especially the dark purple greens. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They help load your purchases, offer you plastic and trays to keep your plants safe on the ride home. Last Saturday my mom and I went to buy veggies for our gardens. We had a nice time looking at their sample garden with all the above ground possibilities. Also, they had a chicken coop with before and after makeover photos. Very cleaver ideas. My mom liked the idea of cinder blocks to keep the sand in for the chickens. Did I mention their prices? Unbelievable. A truck load for $45 !!! Only place to shop for non gmo starter plants at a great price. Thank you Orange County Farm Supply. I have been coming here for a long time, as I live nearby. Several of the friendly employees have retired or moved on, and the remaining ones seem to be burnt out, even before the pandemia. I don't expect them to spend too much time now with customers but they are getting grumpier. Although they wear masks, they don't follow other safety precautions such as not touching/handling credit cards, and no tissues available to wipe out the cards. Another disappointment is the apparent lack of knowledge of current information about some products. They are selling the tropical milkweed, that experts are advising to avoid, as they harm the survival of the monarch butterflies. They are selling it under the name of Asclepias Silky Deep Red, instead of Tropical Milkweed. I pointed this out to Chris but he claimed not to know about this plant. To their credit they also carried better choices such as the Incarnata Soulmate milkweed. They may be busy and stressed out, but contributing to a better environment for pollinators will be appreciated by many customers. read more

Simple, basic farm supply store. Straight to the point kind of place. Good variety and selection of herbs, succulents, leafy plants. Great for little pots of plants to start out your garden. There are some seasonal flowers available in pots, but not too many. There is, however, a large selection of flower seeds inside the store. There's a good selection of fertilizers, pesticides, and other gardening goods located inside and outside the building. The staff will help you load your things in your car if you need assistance (large lags of fertilizer, etc.). They can also be knowledgeable and helpful in answering your gardening questions -- but you have to actively seek them out for assistance. Not a good place if you're looking for large trees/plants or a large variety of potted flowers. The parking lot is on both sides of the building. There's a way lane that connected the right parking lot, loops behind the building for loading/pick-up, then connects to the left parking lot. read more
