I loved working with Shay. I am so grateful that I found him when I first asked him to do a bathroom quote. He came out almost 2 years ago, and I was lamenting the cost of turning my garage into an ADU, and he told me that if I really wanted to do that, he could definitely get me a good price. He certainly did! An ADU is expensive point blank, but I am really happy that I worked with Shay and his crew. I think that my garage conversion to an ADU in Inglewood turned out really well. As the project went on, I realized I wanted to rent my main house too. I was able to work with Shay and his crew to add multiple things to my main house. It also resulted in additional landscaping to my entire yard. He made it really easy to add these things and always follows up to make sure that everything is working. If anything was not working, which is bound to happen on any construction project, he is really good about making sure that everything is fixed to satisfaction. I can't wait to have people in it and I hope I have an excuse to work with Shay again!!!! read more

Oran Remodeling - Vanity install, countertop install, faucet/drain install, linen cabinet in bathroom installed - General Contractors Near Me - Sherman Oaks, California

I was extremely lucky to have found Shay Ram / Oran Remodeling to manage the work on my new house, and I highly recommend him to others. He is trustworthy, knowledgeable, reliable, and provided high value for the price. Shay oversaw the completion of the following work over the course of Sept - Dec 2024: * Remodel of the kitchen, including repainting of existing cabinets (exquisite, flawless work!), replacement of the countertops with quartz, new flooring (natural linoleum), new appliances, and under-counter lighting. * In the bathroom, replacement of the tub with a lovely walk-in shower, new floors, updated plumbing, and installation of a new vanity, mirror, light fixture wall cabinet, and ceiling fan/light/heater unit. The tile work in the shower is beautifully done, the duel sliding glass doors are gorgeous, and the built-in seat and storage nook add a touch of luxury as well as functionality. * Replacement of all the old, single-pane metal windows with dual-pane vinyl windows and beautiful window frames. The windows have made the house much quieter and greatly improved temperature control. * Complete overhaul of the electrical system - all new conduit to replace the old, non-grounded wires, many new outlets added, upsize of the service pane from 100 to 200 amps, a new 50 amp panel added to the garage, and installed a 240V outlet for a level 2 EV plug-in charger. Also, replacement of ceiling can-lights with new, low profile versions, and replacement of other exterior lights and interior chandeliers. * Replaced an old fireplace with a set of new shelves and cabinets. * Redid two bedroom closets, including reforming the space, adding sliding mirrored doors, replacing the flooring, adding shelving and rods. * Repainted the entire interior of the house - all walls, doors, and closets * Replaced interior and exterior doors, and other miscellaneous items I was extremely impressed with Shay's subcontractors, covering all the trades including framing, electrician, painting, windows, tile installation, and plumbing. All of them did extremely high quality work and obviously took pride in their crafts. They were professional and respectful, committed to excellence, and consulted with me directly where needed, providing suggestions and ideas for me to consider. We did not have any problem passing the permit inspections. Friends and family were surprised and impressed to hear how much work I got done on time and reliably, given the horror stories that seem to be so common with home remodeling. I'm delighted with my house, and I will definitely use Shay again for additional work on my property. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for an experienced, reliable, and fair general contractor with an awesome set of trade subcontractors who will do beautiful work in your home. read more

I've never written a review of any kind, but I felt compelled to write this review of Oran Remodeling because of the outstanding job the company did on remodeling my home. Shay, the company's representative, was very responsive to all my requests and concerns and acted quickly to resolve any issues I had. Shay, with his forty-plus years of experience, had many great ideas to make the remodel a resounding success. For instance, he guided us in the layout of the kitchen cabinets, which resulted in the optimum use of the limited amount of space. My old kitchen had a nook to eat our meals, but I wanted something more modern. Shay suggested raising the windows to make room to extend the counter into the former nook area, resulting in the creation of space for bar stools and a place to eat. I thought that was an excellent idea, but Shay was not done. He suggested adding cabinets under the counter to provide more storage space. How great is that! Another of his ideas helped to create space for a washer-dryer combo next to the bathroom. This was an excellent idea, because this house was built in the 1950s and the washer and dryer were located in the detached garage. This was a big inconvenience for me. He was able to use the old shower space for a tower washer and dryer unit. Then the tub space was used for a large, beautiful shower with a bench, a hand-held shower head, and safety bars. It was perfect, especially since I wanted a shower that would be easy and safe to use if I, or someone else in my family, needed assistance. This large and beautiful shower was possible because Shay suggested removing a wall to enlarge the shower space. His workers were all very professional and did an excellent job creating a beautiful kitchen and bathroom that anyone would be proud of. Shay made the task of remodeling less stressful, and it was a pleasure to work with him. He has high standards for himself and his crew, so if anything was not to my/his liking, he took the necessary steps to correct the problem. Because of the great experience I had with Shay and Oran Remodeling, I would highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking about remodeling. The attached pictures show why I am so happy with them. read more

I found my pot of gold in the form of Shay Ram. I was left a triplex by my mother. Another family member had lived in the front house and it was a real horror story. I met with Shay and we came up with a plan to maximize the value and minimize the expense. The saying "have it your way" comes to mind in working with this remarkable money generating company. I was so pleased with the workmanship that I got Oran's crew to work on my back house when the time came. Once again pleased as punch. He has his professional connections with everything you need to be done. I estimate that between the two houses a half a million was put in the bank of real estate. This is a serious decision and I'm thrilled that I chose Oran Remodeling for mine. read more

I have done several projects with Shay over the last couple of years. He and his team are wonderful to work with. The largest project was a total remodel of a home and he did an incredible job based on the design I gave him.I've also referred him to several people and anyone who has used his services has felt it was a great value. His team gets the work done on time, and what I appreciate most is his following up to make sure he has met the client's request. He will make the necessary adjustments to ensure a client is happy with their service. I highly recommend Shay and Oran remodeling! read more

Even though the entire process of our home renovation was very difficult and complicated, we had an excellent experience with Oran Remodeling and Shay! We highly recommend this company. In the first year after buying our house, we hired a terrible contractor who scammed us, used unlicensed workers for plumbing and electrical work, and left our house in a mess. So, we decided to find a new contractor. With the previous bad experience, we were very cautious in choosing a contractor, interviewing 6 or 7 of them, and were very disappointed. Until we met Shay. He was very experienced and, in our first meeting, he could directly and confidently provide suggestions and solutions to the problems in our house. The next day, he quickly brought in different crews--electricians, plumbers, framers, etc., to fully understand and evaluate our house, and finally gave a relatively reasonable quote. This built our trust in him because none of the previous contractors we interviewed were so straightforward and efficient. This was exactly what we urgently needed: rich experience, direct communication, responsibility, efficient workers, and although the price wasn't very cheap, it was reasonable. The subsequent remolding process proved that Shay was simply our lifesaver. Shortly after the renovation started, I got pregnant, so the urgency for completing the renovation became even greater as I wanted to move into the new house before having the baby. When Shay took on our project, our house was a disaster! Because the house was on a hillside, there were many additional and modified permit requirements, and we had a major remodel with 900 square feet of additions, which was a big challenge for any renovation company. But Shay made it happen. Oran Remodeling has the capability to handle every aspect of the renovation: demolition, plumbing, electrical work, framing, roofing, insulation, installing doors and windows, fireplaces, drywall, painting, tiling and wood flooring, HVAC, exterior stucco, and even the outdoor kitchen island. During the renovation process, we encountered many problems and challenges, but each time Shay did his best to help us solve them efficiently. If there was an issue, we could always reach him by phone and never had to worry about not being able to contact him. We want to especially mention a few of his workers: electrician Tamir, because our house had very old wiring and the previous contractor had connected our electrical system very chaotically, so we decided to remove all the old wiring and completely rewire the entire house, and adding an electrical panel. Tamir and his team were very reliable, working very efficiently to rewire the entire house according to the plans. On this basis, they also instaling the wiring for exterior lights and prepare wire connections for cameras according to our needs. Tiling worker Lupe was responsible for the floor tiles, wood flooring, kitchen wall tiles, and bathroom wall and floor tiles throughout the house. His craftsmanship was excellent, and he was very patient. The tile joints were very neat, and the transitions between the bedroom wood flooring and hallway tiles were beautifully done, with smooth joints and no height differences. His attention to detail impressed us. Additionally, wall worker Miguel was also very meticulous, giving us beautiful walls with smooth corners at every joint. He also helped us install indoor doors and door handles. Their work was very reassuring. Overall, we highly recommend Oran Remodeling. Thanks to Shay, we were able to move into such a beautiful home before our baby was born! After two years, Shay helped us end the nightmare of renovation and get our lives back on track. We are very grateful. Highly recommended and reliable! read more

We had a great experience with Shay from Oran Remodeling. He was recommended by a friend, and we would recommend him to others. Prior to working with him, we compared quotes from 4-5 different general contractors. His quote was in the lower ranges - not the cheapest, but very reasonable and certainly best value for what you get. This was a full-gut remodeling of an old house including removal of a weight-bearing wall, conversion of an enclosed patio room into a bedroom, addition of a second bath, new plumbing, new electrical, new mini-split, new windows and doors, new insulation. It was a complicated project, but Shay was very professional throughout the whole process and addressed all our concerns and requests. The project was completed within the discussed time frame and budget. Shay even made several great re-design suggestions that our architect didn't come up with (e.g. install pocket doors instead of regular doors to make our bathroom more spacious). What makes him stand out is that he was always on time, he always followed up with us and had his subcontractors under command. Importantly - If some work of the subs was not to our standards or if there was a problem that came up, Shay would be open to discussion and send back his guys and fix the problem right away, even if that meant additional expenses for him. This is not something you encounter often in the contractor business. We would certainly hire him for our next project. read more

Oran Remodeling - Kitchen remodel - General Contractors Near Me - Sherman Oaks, California

Shay and his team did two large projects for us and after a bad experience with another builder in the area, we were very grateful to work with him. We did a kitchen remodel and an ADU build. His prices are fair, his subs are great and he is fast and communicative. read more

We had a horrible experience with Oran Remodeling. Not only were inadequate workers assigned to our bathroom addition but they were incredibly careless. New flashing installed by Oran around our bathroom vents and solar tube were not installed or sealed properly and our walls and ceiling flooded during the February rain storm. We had to have our shower completely redone and had to file an insurance claim to cover over $25k worth of damage. Additionally, the entire initial project was painfully slow and workmanship was mediocre. Shay hired inexperienced labor to do a poor work on our project. It almost seemed like the majority were brand new people he found on a whim. Attention to detail was lacking - crooked windows, pony wall, and shower glass. Walls looked like they were painted by a toddler. Especially realized how poor the quality of these elements were once we had a new contractor come in to fix the project and saw better quality products and workmanship. Be wise and take your business elsewhere. read more

I am so glad that we found Oran Remodeling for our kitchen and bathrooms remodel project. The contractor is not only experienced, but also honest and responsive. We were worry about our tight budget and the amount of works. Then, Mr. Shay explained and advised us the work flow, which jobs are priority, which can be considered as an option, or save it for later. His teams did the jobs perfectly, the permit process went smoothly even there was a slow down because of the pandemic. The project is done on time, which was very important to us. After three contracting bids for our bath remodel we picked Oran because they offered the best value for the price. Shay was good to work with, and his crew was excellent. We replaced a tub with a shower and the tile work was terrific. New window, rain shower, lighted vanity, all installed with care and precision. The painting was not to my standard, so Joel brought his team back to fix it right away. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. read more

Oran Remodeling - a clean bathroom - General Contractors Near Me - Sherman Oaks, California

I've been meaning to write a review for a while but finally got around to it after finishing the last touch on our room remodel. I found Oran Remodeling on Craigslist. I was weary but I contacted quite a few contractors to come give an estimate the week before Christmas. Some didn't return my call and the ones who did ended up flaking...all except for Shay with Oran Remodeling. Shay actually picked up the phone, said he would come out the following day for an estimate at 1pm. To my surprise, he actually showed up and on-time. This was already a good sign. We wanted to convert our bonus room to a 2nd master bedroom by adding a walk-in closet and bathroom. (We built the room for the bathroom but are still saving money for the actual bathroom). We also had him install a ceiling AC/Heater that works awesome! Shay quoted us 1 week and to be done before the new year and I think it ended up taking 8 days total. So pretty much on-schedule. His quote was very reasonable and they started working the very next day. Every time I called him, he answered or would return my call within 24 hours. Towards the end, his guys rushed a little but I had a list of everything I wanted touched up and they got 95% of it. The workmanship is good. Not amazing, but good for what you pay for plus not having to deal with those flaky contractors out there. Overall, we love our new master bedroom and will definitely be reaching out to him again when we are ready to finish the bathroom and remodel our kitchen. read more

No mistake, was under husband's name thanks. We had a full top to bottom reno, but the house is very small so we assume they just quoted normal house price. I'm sure they were too busy to deal with our baby project. Thanks again for the reply. read more

I would not recommend this company. Just look at the photos. I was promised butcher block countertops and got plywood. They put in new medicine cabinets and left big holes in the wall. I wanted a bathroom vanity to go from wall to wall. They didn't measure correctly and I got one that was far too short. They offered a one-year warranty and came back to "fix" some of the problems and just made more of a mess. Had to hire new people to fix the issues. Huge waste of money. read more

We recently bought a house in Sherman Oaks and it was a fixer upper. The biggest issue was the kitchen. It was a small 10 x 10 kitchen and we decided to tear down a wall to make it bigger and put a pantry so we can have more storage. Also, we wanted to redo the drop ceiling and change the Florescent light and we put in a beautiful island. We got referred by a good friend of mine to use Oran Remodeling- apparently he is the best in Los Angeles. I was very nervous about the work on my house because I was out of town for the entire duration of the remodeling so I had to Shay, the owner of Oran Remodeling, with a key to my house and actual work. However, the whole process was very easy! Shay sent me pictures and videos at every step, sometimes asking me twice how I want certain things to make sure they got everything exactly how I wanted it to look like. After six weeks, I came back home and the entire work was completely done and my house was in perfect condition and clean. One of the projects completed was replacing wood paneling on columns with tile. The new tiles looks so good, you can't tell it was not there in the beginning. I love the end results! I've been planning to write a review for a little while now I am happy I finally got to it. I decided to go with Oran Remodeling back in November for multiple reasons. From our initial meeting I could tell that Shay is a genuine person that really cares about his clients and he do all he can to make sure that the work will come out perfect and without any problem. Since I wasn't too familiar with construction projects, it was extremely important to go with a good company. Oran Remodeling is exactly what I needed, timely, honest, informative and hard working. I did a few projects at the house, I expanded the kitchen and added a family room with a bathroom. I love the new kitchen and the spacious family room. No matter how much you upkeep your house, there is always more work to do and after 16 years of living in my condo, many of those years as a smoker, there was lots to be done. When I was putting my home on the market, I decided to go with Oran Remodeling to upgrade my home and make it sell worthy. They repainted the whole house, remodeled the bathroom, cleaned and re-stained the wood cabinets and bookshelves; updated all the electrical outlets and smoke detectors-. (never thought about doing that) They also installed new floors and carpeting throughout the house. When they were done, and I went to see the finished product, I was almost tempted not to sell, the place looked that good. Two things really impressed me a) they thought of many things that I did not in order to get my condo sell worthy. b) when my room took triple the amount of primer and paint than they had anticipated to get it done right, they kept their word and did the work without asking me to shell out more money. Thank you, Oran Remodeling. I had to decide between multiple offers on the property and it was thanks to the work of Oran and their team. read more
