Ari is phenomenal. Started my locs with comb coils in July. She spent a full day--morning to night!--doing these microlocs with such a cheerful attitude. I have a lot of hair and it was a little past shoulder-length in most places. She was so careful not to pull too hard or make any wonky lines with the parts even when it got late. She really seems invested in helping me start a great loc journey and keeping my hair (and hairline) healthy. The parts are neat, the size is exactly what I wanted, and I dig the styles she's created for me. It's been easy to schedule retwists online and payment via Zelle is convenient. I debated for ages whether I wanted to get locs and was nervous going in. I checked out a few places before I settled on Ora K Locs. What a disappointment! Looked for hours for a place that I could get my hair done for a wedding. Found this place through the many 5 star reviews. The lady who did my hair was SUPER NICE - and that is why I am giving this place a 1 star. Skilled - 0 4 hours in I was still sitting under that dryer for the simplest hairdo ever. She pinned my hair in all sorts of directions, my locks started falling apart the minute I walked out. VERY disappointed. I drove 2 hrs just to get there because no one near or around monterey knew how to crochet locks. Been to others who would pull my hair so tight that it would come out from thr root and show strands sticking out from the dread with the white follicle or they would crochet it wrong and it would just end up coming out after a few days...‍ Any way it didn't even hurt when she did the maintenance on my locks and they look super clean and it's been days and it hasn't came out. Came in for a re-twist on a Wednesday afternoon. Booked online which was very easy. Waited for a few minutes while the stylist was finishing her previous task and prepping for me. Got my hair washed before the the re-twist. I dealt with two wonderful young ladies KeKe and Chanara, they took great care of me. Everything was smooth and pleasant. The atmosphere is chill. Talked with both stylist while they were either washing my hair, twisting, and drying it. Both were easy to talk to and helpful with maintenance of my hair. When it's time to re-twist, I will be coming back to place fast. It is hard sometimes to find a consistent dread loc technicians or hair twistie tech ( I just made that up), but I am super excited I found these ladies. My boyfriend has been seeing Ora for about 3 years, and even tho we live in the peninsula there's a reason he continues to make the trip out to see her. Ora's salon is well-equipped, but not fussy, and the vibes are chill and relaxed. Although the staff works diligently to do thorough wash-and-styles, in here it's always a good time and the only thing that's taken seriously, is doing hair. Boyfriend usually lets Ora choose his loc styles and over the years she's proven her artistry by crocheting, braiding, and palm-rolling his hair into a multitude of varied looks. In the many times I've accompanied my boyfriend and watched the process, I've felt comfortable and welcomed, and Ora feels like family. She is also very reasonably priced and will not put anything on your hair that will cause product build up. She did an awesome job on my daughter's instant locs and they look AMAZING (see pics)! No hair added and it took about 9 hours. She even gave me tips on how to re-twist/palm roll and maintain my daughter's locs myself since I don't live in CA. I cannot say enough about Ora K!
