STAY AWAY from these scammers at all cost! Holy moley, I didnt take the bad reviews seriously and saw the ad $100 for cable $50 for internet so I went down there to their Riverhead office. The woman there took no joke an hour to set me up, I truly think she was illiterate and she was American!!! . After all this I get a text telling me my bill of $224 is due in 2 weeks. WHAT? I go back talk to one guy who tells me he changed it back to $170 which is $150 plus taxes, a day later i get another text telling me $224 is due in 2 weeks threatening me with a late fee unless I pay! Im a new customer, I didnt even move into my new place yet! All in 4 days i went thru this, Im going back now to cancel everything and im betting they're going to charge me. Signed up for no paper billing and autopay years ago for internet service only so never took a detailed look and breakdown of charges on my bill. Had cancelled the TV and landline well over 5 years ago along with so many others that use cell phones only and select streaming services as an option tv. Found optimum added a landline charge of $20 (plus taxes) for well over 2 years. Im still trying to get a statement history of at least 3 years, but that can only be by visiting a store. And additionally, is the only way I can submit a review and request for a credit which has grown to well over $600). I went to the Islandia location where (one employee) was servicing a line of approx 20 customers; most of which were walking out the door as frustrated as I was. I will try one more time or just let them send their in house atty to small claims court. At least someone may show up there, because God knows staffing at the optimum location is subpar. I've been a loyal Optimum customer for years, but my recent experience has been incredibly disappointing. I scheduled a fiber optic installation for March 30, stayed home to meet the technician, only to be told that the necessary outside wiring hadn't been set up--so the install couldn't happen. I gave it another shot on April 6, stayed home again, and a different technician showed up--same issue, still no wiring, and again no installation. After weeks of inconvenience and missed work, fiber optic was finally installed. I was told by customer service that once installation was complete, I could call back and get a credit for the price difference, since I should've been on the lower fiber rate since March. That credit should have been around $100. Instead, they offered me $15. This experience has made it clear that customer loyalty means very little to Optimum. The installation process was disorganized, frustrating, and a complete waste of my time--not once, but twice. And the resolution? Insultingly small. Extremely disappointing. read more

Expensive service; internet connection drops frequently, even after new modem installed... Biggest complaint is ON DEMAND isn't so! Typically shows are supposed to be available next day.. one show is 3 weeks behind & I'm waiting impatiently to watch it. Although I use apple tv too; (on DEN tv) there are times I prefer ON DEMAND as its on other tv's. we pay big bucks for this service!!! GET ON IT!! Optimum is one of the worst cable companies out there today. They are neck and neck with Spectrum. We have had two recent issues with them: 1.) We needed them to release our phone number to a new provider. It took over a month for them to do so and we also had to contact the FCC for help. Optimum FINALLY released the number but it took countless phone calls, countless tries and more. Customer reps promised that they would return calls, they did not. They do not know what they are doing. They do not inform their customer service reps how to handle simple requests like this. 2.) We have been tying to get new fiber optic installed for the past month. We need to have the line installed/snaked underground. We need them to call us before they arrive. They don't call and they send technicians who cannot install the cable. We clear our schedules to work around THEIR schedule but they do not care. DirectTV never sounded so good. It's a shame that Optimum is a monopoly. I am sure that if there was competition in town, they would be out of business in no town. They are the worst. read more

Optimum Service Technician showed up for a Service appointment WITHOUT A MASK. I asked him if he had a mask he said "I got one if I need it". I just looked at him. And he said, "Do I need it?" And I said "I would be more comfortable if you wore one - yes" and he went back to his truck to get it. The mask did not cover his nose. Throughout his visit, he did not maintain a 6ft social distance. He asked to use the bathroom. After the install was complete he came and stood next to me to give me the written account name on a piece of paper. I thought he was asking me to sign something - he wasn't. He just kept standing next to me. I backed away. He asked me if I was satisfied with the service today. I didn't answer right away. And he said, "You have to think about it?" I said I was surprised he showed up at the door without a mask. And he said "Some people think it's important. Some do not" Optimum does not? Is it worth risking infection of COVID 19 for an upgrade in my internet speed? No, it is not, Optimum! Calls to Optimum have not yielded any results other than their telling me that it is their policy that Service Technicians wear masks and maintain an appropriate distance. And the promise that a supervisor will get back to me. Which has not yet occurred. read more

They are expensive, they are incompetent, they know they have a monopoly on the East End of Long Island so they take every advantage of it which translates into the worst possible experience you can possibly have. have been trying, for several weeks--WEEKS-to get my cell phone on the Optimum mobile plan. Now I have time I worked with someone yesterday who said he would resolve my problem. Apparently one phone was on the Optimum plan, while mine was still on the Verizon plan. No I have NO phone service, and I happen to be bedridden for the next 10 weeks. I was lured out of my Verizon mobile account in July. A mistake. There is no customer service with this company. I traveled to Bermuda and purchased the international plan"D". It failed to work as I had no service while on Bermuda. I went to the Optimum office , explained and was directed to deal with this online. I did. I was told it is company policy not to give refunds. The phone they sold me for a promotional price of $149 suddenly became $249. I will look into T-Mobile and Verizon and walk away from Optonline Mobile. Hopefully this motivates me to cut the cord and get rid of my expensive cable. Good riddance. read more

Worst customer service! I requested a downgrade in Nov, the order wasn't put through and the only way I noticed was because my bill was so high. Then when I called to request the credit, the company said that it couldn't do that because the downgrade order wasn't completed. Sound circular?! I would like to give optimum a Zero Rating. But unfortunately I need to give them at least one star to post this rating. I have been trying for TWO MONTHS to get fiber conduit run from street to my house. First they sent the wrong technician ( one who installs routers) then they put an SRO on the account for fiber to be installed in 7-10 days. No one came. I have since been calling and every person I speak says something different. I have had bad experiences with other vendors from time to time but they ARE THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Do not use them!! BEWARE of ALTICE!!!! I had it installed yesterday and not only is it constantly dropping my Google Nest and mini speaker wifi connections, the boxes make a loud humming sound that will keep you awake at night. RUN AWAY from Optimum Altice. I have a technician coming this Wednesday to remove Altice and install the old boxes. When they installed Altice yesterday I didn't want to move and connect my main phone to the new Altice box so I kept my old Optimum modem. If I hadn't I wouldn't have phone or internet service at all. ALTICE IS A NIGHTMARE! P.S. In Florida I have Xfinity X1 and it makes no noise at all. No cable box should make noise and drop connections. read more

I would not believe it - if I didn't experience it first hand. Installation appointment made weeks ago...confirmed by optimum via email, phone call, text the night before... On installation day - nobody arrived. When I called I get bounced around the call center and told the account is Active and equipment was activated. Impossible. Then, a series of "support" agents tell me they can re-schedule 1-week later for a fee!!??! I write this part with all respect - but Optimum is outsourcing their support to non-english speaking personnel who simply are not enabled to do anything but repeat what they see in the "system." They were nice enough and I was respectful to the fact that they just could not do anything - because they did not know how. They had their script and that was it.... To continue, I asked if I could just pick the equipment up myself and was told "No" because the equipment at the retail location is "outdated"... not sure if that is accurate?!?!? The fact that Optimum can confirm installation 12 hours prior - then not show - then activate the account for billing purposes - then tell me I can re-schedule...in one week....for a fee - but not pick up the equipment at their retail store, is pretty telling about the value they place on service. I can't wait for other providers to get to the area. I suspect Optimum will adapt their methods when they have some competition. Such as surreal experience. read more

I tried to cancel my internet service because I'm moving to a different state. My new billing doesn't start till the 6th of February and they told me that I'm already in my new billing cycle and that I'm still going to be charged for a month that I won't even be using. It's so unfair. The person was so rude and told me that I should have know these terms going into this company. But I asked if there's anything he can do for me so I don't have to pay the next billing cycle because it just doesn't make sense to me. He just kept repeating himself that I should have known the billing cycle but it all just sounds so sketchy and the way he was speaking to me was so rude. And that fact that they can't help out their customers when I, according to him, only been in the "new billing cycle" for 4 days, is horrible customer service. And then to top it all off he told me to hold on the line till the cancellation was complete! So I did! I waited on the line like a dumb ass and 30 mins into waiting the call drops!!! I call back and someone new answers and told me that the cancellation is pending and I didn't have to wait on the line. He probably did that on purpose to mess with me. All I told him was that I didn't want to pay for a month I wasn't going to be using. I DO NOT recommend optimum to anyone. And I will be disputing the charges. Especially since I won't be using their services for a whole month. They are pretty much stealing their customers money by doing that. I'm so upset. Worst customer service. Signed up for internet service - first time tech was a no show. Second time, he installs but does not give me the extender or the box for Optimum stream - but my account says I got all the boxes. Customer service number is useless - they say my account says I have the boxes. I explain I am calling because I don't have them. They say - go in person to nearest office to discuss. I do that. They say will have to "research" this - can't they tell that this equipment is not being used? Since then I have gotten 2 calls from someone from Optimum asking me how I like my new extender. I keep telling them I never got it. Oh no they say, as if this is the first time they are hearing this. This is what happens when a company has a monopoly on service in an area. I never had this problem with Verizon and I would switch to them in a minute if I could. Instead it is groundhog day, and I have to explain the issue over and over again to different people who can't understand what is happening. What - a technician never made a mistake before in the history of Optimum? Give me a break. read more

Service is absolutely terrible. I have been without cable since at least Wednesday (now Saturday). Spent at least five hours on the phone with several techs and been to the Riverhead office twice in three days to exchange cable boxes but none of them work. They gave us an appointment for Tuesday - guess it's not important to them that you have no cable for a week. WTH a they have no competition in Calverton so why should they care. Finally got an appointment for Sunday and customer service said at 10:00. Then I get the call and email that they'll be there between 10 am and 8 pm. They just don't care about customers. For 20 years it's the same excuses about weather and never really fixing anything long term. Just always increasing the prices for the same mediocre service when they know that customers have no alternative. And forget about them ever upgrading to fiber optics. Optimum just doesn't care about the quality of service in Calverton or their customers. read more
