Optimum gets 1 star because zero stars in not an option. If you cannot decide between this company and another service, RUN to the other company. They do not believe in customer service, and staff is not empowered to help. It is near impossible to get someone on the phone and their automated system-by phone or by chat-is maddening. They have tacked on costs from the person in the apt next door to my mother-in-law's bill. She lives in assisted living. No one has the authority to remove the neighbor's costs from our bill, and they won't restart the service until the neighbor's bill is paid. THEY ARE HOLDING OUR SERVICE HOSTAGE TO PAYMENT OF THE NEIGHBOR'S BILL. Two Optimum employees have told us that the mysterious charge comes from the neighbor. Spent two days so far trying to resolve -- by phone (had the pleasure of being hung up on twice), by chat, in person at the Bethpage service center, and will start again today. If we could change services we would, but the assisted living facility is only wired for Optimum. At this point, I have to ask how Optimum will be compensating us for our time, our frustration, and the complete lack of competence on their part. read more

If I could give them a minus 0 I would. In November, I canceled my phone and TV and only kept my internet Because they charge a month in advance, I assumed the 170 they were charging me was credited. After calling the local office and arguing with a woman for 20 minutes, she finally said, "Oh I see" She told me to pay the whole thing and the remainder would be credited on my next bill. I told her I was going to pay only what was due, and she threatened to turn my cable off, and I would need to pay a re connect fee. I told her to send me a revised bill as I did not trust them. She continued fighting with me til I spoke to a supervisor who was just as bad. These cable companies, especially Optimum are the worse. They should be audited by the FCC. I bet they owe thousands of customers money. My next letter will be to the FCC. I have internet only with them now, but when I find a reliable company, that will be gone to. DO NOT CONSIDER SERVICES FROM THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT CONTINUED FRUSTRATION AND LIKE TO DEAL WITH ON-GOING INCOMPETENCE. Never have I ever had such a miserable experience with a cable/phone/internet provider (and that's saying a lot). It took 3 home service calls for them to even get the order straight. When I requested the problem be escalated to a manager, they say the manager will call back. I have tried this a minimum of 5 times and have NEVER received a returned call. They will not supply the name of a manager or supervisor to speak with. It has been 10 days since services were supposed to be installed/connected and they have yet to get it right. They are unresponsive and the support/phone staff is unbelievably incompetent, repeatedly giving incorrect information and outright lying about what they are doing. This company should be ashamed of itself and the leadership, including CEO Dexter Goei, Vice Chair- Lisa Rosenblum, EVP Consumer Services, Matt Marino need to take a serious look at how their company is run because the customer service and inept handling for this CONSUMER is wholly UNACCEPTABLE! It should not take 30 phone calls and hours on the phone only to be told that in order to escalate an on-going issue due to the company's ineptness that a manager will call you back - and then never does and the issue is never resolved unless you make multiple calls, spending way too much time. I switched my cable/TV/Phone Services from Verizon Fios to Altice One back in April 2021. I was told after 3 months I would receive a $200 Visa Giftcard. I called Altice One on 11/09/21 and spoke to Abdo Yaser who told me first that I changed my service in April and I wasn't eligible for the gift card. When I replied that I changed my service to his company in April he than gave me another reason that I couldn't get the gift card like it was over 3 months and I waited too long to call. Anyway we went back and forth for a half hour with him giving excuses after excuses why I was not entitled to the Visa gift card and when I asked for a supervisor, I was told one wasn't available and they would call me back-Needless to say I will be switching back to FIOS but I'm entitled to that $200 gift card. If I could give zero stars I would. This company lies, cheats and steals. They charge you for services not rendered. If you cancel service on The first or second of the month they charge you for an entire month. They charge for goods and services you are NOT using. I canceled service on the 9th of the month and was sent a bill stating I had a balance. when I called to dispute the charge I was told I needed to pay the entire month. At that point I sTate's this is or should be illegal I was told to pay just what I owed for the nine days and my balance would be cleared, which I did. They are now trying to collect the balance which I do not owe. I was never informed of the policy and when I filed a BBB claim they lied and said I was informed. We've had Optimum Bundle (cable tv, internet, landline phone ) for years. A couple of years ago, we noticed that the bill was getting higher & higher. When we called, customer service tried to convince us that we had a great discounted rate by saying that the bill would be about $500 a month if we didn't have their "special package"! At the same time, the channels they offered were lousy! Also, many times when we click on the movie or show information, it says we we can't view the Guide! The next complaint, which other people have mentioned as well, it is very difficult to reach a live customer service representative! We press "0" to reach an operator, but no one comes on! The final straw for us is Optimum's lack of compassion for their customers. I told them that I became unemployed when my store closed due to the Pandemic. I asked if I could split my monthly bill into 2 payments, which the other utilities have let us do. They took our first half payment & a representative ( yes, finally got to one thru a different number), said we could make the last payment by the following week. Guess what! 2 days later they cut off our service!!! Tried to reach someone again, but out of frustration, scraped the money together for the $116 remaining balance. In closing, we don't usually complain, but this company SUCKS!! Can't wait to switch! Hope this has helped others! read more

I am an Altice user because i have no choice. I live in eastern Suffolk county, NY. I considered switching to Altice mobile till my wife could not connect per their instructions. How terrible it was to try to get help. The lack of customer service sucks. They are untrained, unprofessional and nasty people. They want to charge for not using their service because they couldn't solve the issue when she tried to port her number. I wish I could drop their internet service. they are just not worth the BS they put some through. i am hoping Verizon can get into my neighborhood...... Can't write a review without any stars so giving them 1. Optimun The only cable providers in Fishkill, Dutchess County. Customer service not the greatest when you call. Basic service for channels 2,4,5,7,9,11,13 that are supposed to be free is over charged for. Considering the channels they give you in the basic service channel 31 ewtn for the Catholic community used to be ok I'll keep them but now they have removed the ewtn chanel, basicaly depriving the home bound seniors of their religious right. They keep raising the price when they should have a basic senior price. Back in the day(1980's) it was only $17 for seniors, low income people so I was able to recommend to them a basic communication cable service. I'm running out of options for them so they are turning to the radio again. Yes there are seniors that still have radios and prefer to listen to the radio than over pay for cable on social security. read more

Left FIOS to save money and went to Altice One for TV, Internet and Phone. Worst decision. The new Fiber service is clearly not ready for "prime time". CONSTANT wi-fi drops which affect tv, internet & phone service. Sometimes it happens several times a day. The menu is horrible. DVR freezes. Picture freezes at times. Customer service is clueless. I have a cable box that needed to be replaced. Tried calling but the robo-loop wanted to Re-boot all my cable boxes and I couldn't connect with a human so I scheduled an appointment through chat. Was told that I would have to pay $80 for a service visit because I didn't want to bring the box for exchange to a cable store. In the days that followed I was called by automated calls and outsourced calls at all hours and often in an effort to get me to cancel my appointment. Turns out Optimum cannot charge for calls where problem is their equipment and they do not want to send out techs unless there will be a charge. I was harassed for four days in order for Optimum to save $80. I reached out to Altice, the parent company, not for discounts or any kind of compensation for the harassment, but because I wanted an senior executive of their corporation to call and apologize. I was told that calling customers is "not part of their job description" and that I would never receive a call. I am curious if this has happened to anyone else and if this type of harassment is a common Altice practice. read more

Local provider customer for almost 40 years then Optimum took over last year. Spent 4 months trying to get my TV with Optimum to work correctly. Attempting to fix that they changed out all the equipment to Altice equipment and after that the internet went downhill quickly. Consistently going off and back on randomly. And for longer times. Numerous times dealing with text messaging online (got to memorize their standard routine WHEN I could stay online long enough). Numerous techs coming to house to say everything checks out only for it to continue to randomly shut off and back on. Also, found out from one of the techs that Optimum was only providing me HALF of the internet rate I was paying for. After 3 months of unreliable internet I finally cancelled only to have Optimum charge me for a full month after the cancellation! Stay away from Optimum. Unreliable and cannot be trusted. read more

During the many years I have been an optimum customer, I have never experienced such poor performance, interruptions and poor customer support as I am experiencing now that Altice is managing the service. Having serious WiFi issues? It is not your fault. The blame is with your service provider. I am extremely disappointed with the piss poor service provided by this company. We currently live in Flatbush Brooklyn a predominantly Caribbean black community and only have options for service of optimum altice and low speed Internet from Verizon. We currently have a package for the highest speed from optimum. With this service you should be able to stream and use several devices however we are not even able to stream a movie on Netflix without it cutting in and out. Is this not 2020 is this systemic racism? I think yes. I doubt they are having this problem a few blocks away in Ditmas Park with this company. We have called and reported our issues to optimum and have endured very unprofessional technical support and customer service it is now going on five months of poor quality service we will be reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Altice One , which is fibre based, is clearly NOT READY for primetime. TV picture freezes and is poor. Frequent wi-fi drops. GB Internet speed is mediocre at best. Customer service and techs don't seem to know what's going on with the Fibre service. Most of all, it is NOT cheap and roughly the same price as FIOS. Hands down the ABSOLUTE WORST customer service I have ever experienced. Month after month of Optimum "escalating" my lack of service issues without ever resolving anything. Lots of "sorry for your inconvenience" and "we're fix it...okay?" But they NEVER do. After endless hours on the phone and running back and forth to the store multiple times, they left me high and dry. After months of complaining a tech did finally call me back. When I had to gather information for him, he said he would call me back in 20 minutes. Which he did. But I couldn't hear him and I don't know if he could hear me. He called back a few times but I still couldn't hear him. And he hasn't tried contacting me since, not through the phone, not through an email. I'm bailing. Beware of this company. The guy in the store simply crossed his hands over his chest, refused to make eye contact and kept saying "we can't help you here". No advise, no what to do next after calling the number they gave me every day for months without any change in the lousy service they provided. They told me they couldn't credit me the initial charge but would cancel my service...this was 2 Optimum employees on 2 different occasion's. I will be leaving this company as fast as possible. Verizon is starting to dig in my community and I'm looking forward to get rid of this awful company. I made the mistake of trying to upgrade my equipment. They sent an inexperienced guy to install it and it didn't work. After five hours and a visit from two more experienced guys they could not figure out what was wrong. They walked out of my house not providing a plan for fixing the problem. I called numerous times to get help and each time someone from some other country advised that a supervisor will call me back. The supervisor never calls back. I even wrote to the CEO Geoi who ignores his emails. He doesn't even dump it on one of his subordinates to take care of the problem. As far as he's concerned I can fend for myself. It explains this badly run company. After numerous attempts to try to fix the problem from headquarters I am now advised that tomorrow, the third day without service I can wait from 10 o'clock in the morning until 8 o'clock at night for a tech to come and fix the problem. This is also total garbage because if there is an outage and it has nothing to do with inside the home so why are they sending a technician at all. I can't wait to dump this company. read more

I went to store in Bethpage to upgrade my sons phone. The optimum mobile account is in my name but out TV/Internet account is in my husbands name. You have to have Optimum TV/Internet to get Optimum Mobile (previously Altice Mobile). So obviously since I have a mobile account, I must have the TV account. I showed proof of address, pulled up our optimum bill and mobile bills on my phone, showed them the credit card used to pay the bills. The manager would not approve the pirchase of a new phone since my name wan't on the Optimum TV account. They suggested I order it online. so went home, ordered online but couldn't change the shipping address so it would go to my son who does not live in NY. Did chat before submitting order and they said they could change address so submit the order. Done - chat then says the can't change address on existing line. I appreciate their attempt at preventing fraud, but after so much validating info ,including online, this is ridiculous! read more

All my wireless devices would lose internet for about 10-30 min at a time. Only way to "fix" it would be to have a technician come out to do something that should have been done on INSTALLATION. Week of 10/12/20, I spoke to Optimum about cancelling all service. I was told they can only cancel at end of billing cycle 10/31/20. Since they tried keeping me as a customer, they offered higher speed internet, which I accepted. The tech was scheduled on 10/18/20,Sun. The appointment was for 11-2 but he showed up around 4:30PM. Never a call or text. I found out when I tried calling optimum and each time I called, the time changed. He changed modem & changed altice box to mini, but apparently installed incorrect equipment. Tech said they have to do a lot from office and he had another call, so he left. That night internet worked but not TV. I called office and they tried getting cable box to work, but unable to do so, they had to send another tech, free to me. He replaced modem & mini cable box, but the cable box was never on my account. After tech left, I tried to add my DVR, which optimum removed from my account, so I called the office and they were unable to set up the DVR, so they told me a tech would come, no cost to me. Tech came but said it needs to be done in office. He emailed supervisor & had DVR by next day. I was charged for 2 visits $140.00. I had a cell phone with optimum beside they over charged me for the phones you can never get in contact with customer service I had to drive 40 minutes away just to get a phone number to their mobile place I called and disconnected the phone lines on September 29 I asked them if the payments would stop because they was Reoccurrent payments they said yes on October 6 they took the payment out anyway for October I called up asked for a refund they said no I ask to talk to a supervisor they told me that they were in a meeting and refused to let me talk to supervisor I told them I will report them and give them a bad review so they blocked me on Facebook they are the worst phone and cable company ever oh I got stories about the cable they like to charge people for Equipment they don't even have keep a eye on your bill because they don't pay that money back either if I could get another cable company I would but the other companies don't do service on my street read more
