After many problems, had a tech with talent come out (not the first) -- he identified an outdoor connection (not house entry point) that he felt should be replaced and did so. Things improved. This is by far the worst service i have ever experienced. I switched over from regular service to fiber-optic service last Wednesday and today is the 5th day without internet and TV and they still do not know how to help me. I am losing money by not being able to work from home and they certainly do not care at all. 13 calls later i am still being transferred around the horn to every department with no one being able to help. Optimum customer service is the worst of the worst. I negotiated a lower monthly cable bill from $330 to $202 in January 2024. I received an email verifying the billing change. In February I received n invoice for $330. I called Optimum Customer Service who stated I should only pay $202 and that's what I paid. In March I received a bill for again $330, but said just pay $202 and going forward I would be billed $202. I called Customer Service once again when I saw online that I had an unpaid balance of $128. I called once again and was told for the first time I needed a service call to change the modem to put in all the service changes negotiated in January. Service call made but they tell me I still owe the balance of $128 minus credit of $36 bringing my balance to $92. I should have a zero balance but in speaking to Customer Service of which I wanted to talk to a supervisor but was told the supervisor doesn't talk on the phone. Recently move had my service transferred. They say they was sending a tech out. Was trying to get a clear understanding why I needed a tech. Why never got an answer but now I know about four days later they disconnected my Internet now I'm sitting at home waiting for a appointment. Because they never scheduled a tech or told me exactly why the tech needed to come out clearly not my fault, but I am suffering for it can't watch TV barely can use my phone. Someone said they move me up put me in the tech should be there on Saturday. The day the service went out between five and eight set up all day waiting for the tech no one showed up. After 1 year of service where every single month we were w/o Internet due to outages on their end, we received text messages advising they were working to fix their problem, I finally cancelled my service and went with Starlink (great service ever since). I cancelled my Optimum service on 1/16/23 and returned all their equipment that same day via UPS. Despite that they continue to bill me and tell me their employee "Sebastian" did not process the disconnect. They then tell me I now have to pay $95 for them to open the account to cancel the service. And, if I pay the $95, they will waive the other $140.11 for the month that should have not been billed as I cancelled the service, but they did not process it. To end this nightmare, I paid the extorted $95 and got a confirmation number. Now, today, 3/1/23, I receive another bill from these bozos that I now owe them for service through March 23. My phone stopped working correctly the day I signed up. Problems receiving calls and messages. Over months I never got past the customer service representative. I was always told " Our team is working on it." I finally switched carriers. Still had trouble. The new carrier had to intercede to get my lifelong number released. Altice would not release it. illegally. Still had trouble. I had to go to Apple care to have them remove Altice from my phone. That was 2 years ago I just today received a notification from a collection agency for $42. I have never received any notice from Altice that a bill was outstanding. I've been placed on hold for hours, told that I would get call backs that never came, told that it's probably my own fault because elderly people open suspicious emails out of curiosity! I'm trying to disconnect my service with Optimum, who states that the service can only be disconnected at the end of my billing cycle. I've sold my house and new owners are moving in on the 15th. But service can only be disconnected on the 22nd. That's one whole week of service continuing in a home I no longer own or will be living in. Why should services still be on in my name in a home, I no longer live in? How does that make sense? The last two days one of their technicians was working on the telephone pole on the corner of my property. This afternoon when I came home i noticed the damage they did to my lawn, see attached pictures. They also left garbage on the lawn, old cable ties, electrical tape, and some pieces of metal in the yard for my lawn mower to get damaged with. It took me an hour to fic and clean up their mess. I should have made a note of the contractor doing the work, but there was an OPTIMUM name on the bucket truck. This worker needs to be talked to about other peoples property. We sold our home and are moving out of state. I called to cancel our service and was told that I would have to pay the full month of our prepaid service, even though we are only using about one week. Additionally, they apparently can't disconnect us until two days after the next billing cycle (system generated date), for which we would also be charged. The line given when we complained is that this policy is on our bill. This is beyond an unethical business practice. They prorate on the front end, but won't on the back end, and are forcing us to pay for service we can't use, and for an additional 2 days because their systems apparently are too inadequate to turn off a service on time. read more

The Bethpage Optimum store is clean, bright, and well run. We returned our equipment there and it was done quickly and with courtesy. The gentleman who helped us could not answer our question about a bill, and gave us a number to call. That's when we found out that if you disconnect your Optimum service at any time during your billing cycle, you will NOT get any refund, full or partial. Optimum will not pro rate and refund your payment, even if you turned in the equipment and have switched over to another company. This is the reason for the one star rating. Once they have your money, you are not getting it back unless there is an outage on their end. Why did we disconnect? we found a cheaper and better package elsewhere. read more

I was on the phone with this rep for 53 minutes where the rep did not resolve my issue, gave bad instructions, and made the technical support problem worse due to his ineptitude! He would not connect me with a supervisor, and didn't put through a request for a supervisor to contact me. This telephone service is TERRIBLE. After Hurricane Isaias, Optimum cable services were out for eight days. My cell phone dropped calls or I could not be heard. I could not text or send emails. Then, Altice charged me the full fee for a month's service. I reported them to the New York State Attorney General's office. There is NO way to reach a person either by email or phone. The wireless connection was so poor, I could not make a phone call out once I finally got the SIM card in and working. The wireless service was spotty and dropped calls. People said they couldn't call me. They couldn't port my number which happened to be a blessing,because I called my old carrier Verizon and stopped the port and canceled Altice. As of September 8, 2023 I can no longer receive any E-Mails on my optonline.net account and subsequently my Microsoft Outlook 2010. I was just informed that my account has been dropped due to inactivity with my Optimum Online Web E-Mail account. Apparently as of this past May 2023, Optimum decided that they will cancel all E-Mail accounts due to inactivity. I was told by a customer service representative named "Julia" that Optimum had notified me of this situation, however, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED, either by U.S. Mail, an E-Mail, a phone call, or online. I have not had the need to use online E-Mail since I have been satisfactorily using Microsoft Outlook 2010 for over 10 years for my E-Mails. I was also told by "Julia" that I should have logged in to my Optimum Online E-Mail account at least once a month so that I wouldn't be dropped. Had I known of this I definitely would have done so. We've been a Cablevision customer and then Optimum customer (same company different name) for over 30 years. We are presently paying Optimum $274.00 a month for services, including E-Mail. This treatment by this company with me is outlandish and uncalled for. I am hereby requesting reinstatement immediately of my Optimum Online E-Mail because my current E-Mail address is used by people, Doctors, Hospitals and companies that I do business with. This dropping of my E-Mail account represents an EXTREME HARDSHIP to me. I am medically not well and this unnecessary stress is NOT GOOD for my health. read more

They're quick to give up and tell you they could get a Technician out in 36 hours! Last night, this Indian lady insisted i had to have a modem and i kept saying i only had the cable box. Ok, i forgot ALTICE is now All-In-One and the cable box contains the modem - BUT SHE DIDNT TELL ME THAT! So i said, i need LEVEL 3 SUPPORT...somebody must be more advanced than you. So, she cancels the Appt....I said why are you doing that and she says because you want to talk to someone else. So, i said DIPSHT (no i didnt), just keep the appointment and if the other person can fix, she/he will cancel the appt...DUHHHH. So she transfers me to Rhonda who professionally found a Service Outage in the area!! Why didnt the other brain surgeon know that?? Rhonda even promised a callback when Service was back up but that didnt happen...I was asleep anyway for the night. What a disgrace and the need for Support is getting too regular! read more

Do not be persuaded to changing your current mobile provider to a cheaper provider, Altice. A service provided by optimum supposedly I was told I can try it for a fee of $20 for the SIM card and then cancel with no further fees or charges. Yet, I'm being charged service charges and fees. It's impossible to cancel because I was told via "message us" (that's how they communicate) that there isn't a customer service available and that I cannot speak with a live person. Anyway Altice claims that a person can switch to this cheaper plan from their current provider to an unlimited plan ofor only $30 a month and they can carry over their current cell number as well as their current cell phone. This is not the truth. I received the SIM card and tried the plan for a day and received no data. I was only able to use Wi-Fi. I was given an entirely new cell number and was asked to purchase a new cell phone since my Samsung was not considered part of the plan. I canceled immediately. Now, I'm being charged for services that I've never used nor signed an agreement for. I had'nt even switched from or cancelled from my current cellular provider. Now I'm being billied by two service providers. Don't fall into this scam of using altice mobile as a cheaper alternative to your current mobile carrier. Cheaper is not better. read more

Optimum has been billing for a free HBO trial for over 2 years at a cost to me of over $400.00. We do not remember clicking for a free trial. IF we did, we should have been notified via email that the trial period is over. ( I get tv, phone and Email from them) After all, they are a giant communications company. There are other companies that DO alert you and ask if you want to continue after a trial ends. I work for a large company. Our I.T. people say it's rather easy to write code to notify customers. I get reminders from American Express, doctors, dentists and a few others via email. Why not from a communications giant? Optimum claims that I actually called and asked for HBO. No way! They also said "We did not charge you for HBO, you gave us the money" What a set of stones! They offered a $12.00 discount for one year to satisfy me. They also pointed out their 2 mile page of legalese on their site. Do they just get to keep my $400.00? There should be a law requiring all companies to notify you when a freebie expires. Furthermore, I have NO interest in HBO. I use a DVR and could not access it without an Optimum cable box which we do not have. Optimum also said they cannot tell if I have used HBO (I do not believe this at all) Has this happened to anyone else reading this? I am really angry. Help and suggestions are welcome. I am a Senior Citizen and feel helpless. Does Optimum have any empathy? Would they have to close up shop if they gave me a few months of free service or a better monthly reduction? I had a terrible experience with Optimum Altice service. I initially changed from Verizon FIOS since Altice was offering a great price with faster internet and supposedly strong WIFI throughout the house. The minute I had service installed, the problems started. The TV signal froze constantly, phone service dropped and the internet was unreliable. I had 6 service visits to try and get it fixed, and it was never resolved. They also didn't stand by the 30 day money back guarantee so I had to pay for terrible service until I could change back to Verizon. I DO NOT recommend Optimum Altice service. read more

If I wasn't financing two phones thru them I would return to AT&T. Mobile service is not the issue, it's actually reasonable and the service is good, reception wise. It's the customer service and their policies. Went to buy a phone and switch my mother's phone also to cablevision. Picked a phone, was all ready to finish the transaction when I'm told that the SIM card will be shipped to my house, and that once I get it, bring it back and they will install it for me. Dumbest thing I ever heard, by far. Also, with one exception, the people working there are not what I would call friendly. When I was there I saw this dad with 2 kids about 8 and 10, and the 8 year old was desperate to pee, desperate. The dad asks an agent if they could let the kid pee, to which he hears, we do t have a bathroom. Really? It's a kid. They all don't have a place they go to? Just a very impersonal experience.
