I just want to echo all the reviews here. Terrible customer service on the phone. Seems like the monthly charges increase every time their internet service goes down. Recently cancelled service at a rental unit I'm selling. I had to drive over 60 miles to drop off the equipment. I called today to cancel my service because when I called previously to see if I could get a better rate I was given the run around. I was on the phone for a long period of time then they finally told me that they cannot give a better rate unless I take out additional services thus the decision to go to another provider. Today I tried to call to cancel my service and was on the phone for over 15 minutes. They continued to try to get me to stay with promotions that were cheaper than what I had before. I continued to tell them I did not want their services, I only wanted to cancel. They did not listen...they continued to try to tell me about other options. I finally had to ask for a supervisor, they then told me the supervisor was not available but would get back to me. Seriously! I'm sorry I ever used Optimum and will NEVER use them again! Not only was the service poor but the customer service was terrible. As my wife works from home, internet reliability is a must. The optimum signal dropped repeatedly for the first 3 months and then "improved" to intermittently after that. When I had the opportunity to change providers, I jumped at it. I returned my modem to the store where I received it when I set up my service and was told they could accept the modem but I would have to call their 866 number to cancel my service. It took me 40 plus minutes and 3 different representatives to finally cancel my service. However, after 3 months, they still have not located the modem I returned and have billed me $130 for the device. In the 21st century with a technology based business, one would think scanning a barcode would not be a huge thing. The threatened to turn my account over to collection (threatening my good name and my credit rating) so I paid them their extortion. Of course, they assured me that IF they locate the modem, they will reimburse me. Not holding my breath. I would recommend a dixie cup and a string before I would recommend Optimum to anyone. read more

Widowed mom of 5 here. I was promised back in december that i would get 2 months free and once the free months ended my services would be 99 a month. Well 2 months ago my bill was a little over 400 and now ( 2 mths later) its over 1000. Do not use this company bc they scam and lie to you and take advantage of ppl. I dont know how im gonna pay this bill but they refuse to help me get it lowered even if they promised me something and I never got what was promised. read more

Got 2 stars because the internet is great. Only got 2 because the cell sucks. Got the "free" phone, A15, that is only good for a fishing weight. Can't keep calls, internet shuts off after a few minutes, texts dingo through, you name it. Customer service informed me my "free" phone is financed for 3 years, but I don't have payments on it unless I want a new one, then I have to pay it off. Only other option is to buy a phone and add another line at $15 a month. Seems like Spectum all over. Scams. read more

Slow service and very rude employees. They don't care about how you as a customer were treated on the phone by terrible phone representatives or about how they magically add HBO max or a number of other pointless charges to sky rocket your bill. I hate this company. Oh and good luck trying to cancel them. Their reps are trying to say," you are already getting a great rate. I have been trying to cancel my service with Optimum for over 2 months. The company will not provide an email, so I have had to call their customer service number to cancel. I have made 3 calls asking them to cancel and was told it would be taken care of. However today I received a bill for over $80. What these fools are doing is criminal. read more

Their company policy is that they do not disconnect services until the end of a billing cycle. They don't make exceptions. My mother is a senior, moving out of town to live with my brother. It's outrageous that they cannot pro-rate or adjust her services bill. Horrible to deal with. Bad business practices.... read more
