I'm finally getting around to writing this review…read more Dwight is absolutely amazing!!! In early February we were looking for care for my dad. I called Dwight at 7:30 to leave a message. He actually picked up the phone. He talked with me for about 40 minutes, explaining all the services he offers and how it would look helping my dad (and mom). He knows his stuff! Very compassionate. Knowledgeable. Caring. There are a lot of things to consider when hiring a caregiver. Legalities. Regulations. Matching a caregiver with a client. So much more. Dwight explained it all so clearly. Big one: If you have a long-term healthcare insurance policy, make sure to check the waiting period. My mom hadn't looked at the policy in years, and sure enough there was a waiting period. His advice on activating it was on point. He met with my mom and I within a week of first talking on the phone. He re-explained to my mom all the services he offers. She was able to use him for only a week....my dad returned to the hospital. And never returned home. Dwight was so supportive. Would not hesitate to call Dwight.

Do NOT use this company!!! I showed up for a procedure and was denied check-in when I told them I'd…read morebe using Uber to get home. The surgery center gave me the name and number of this company to use for transport home. I booked an appointment with them, at the rate of $165 for a drive that cost $60 from Uber. Post-procedure the center staff tell me they texted my driver as I was going in and told him it would be 30 mins to pick-up. This would have meant a 12:15 pick-up latest. Since I'd originally gave Care Companions an estimated pick-up of 12:30, and they had plenty of early notice for the change in time, it should have been fine. I am fully awake and ready to go at 12:15. No driver. I try calling him, twice, at the number provided by his company but calls go straight to a recorded message that he's not available. I text him that I'm ready for pick-up. No response. At 12:30 the center calls him and his company but no status update is available and he still doesn't pick up the phone. Several calls follow- between me and Care Companions and between the center and Care Companions; no one can get Ken on the phone. As I am telling the center that I'm just going to leave, against medical advice or company policy or whatever, Ken calls the center's receptionist; he's lost in the actual parking lot. It takes a receptionist to walk out to the street to direct him because he can't figure out the very, very straight-forward directions and giant sign on the building. This is 1:30!!! Ken arrives and he is ancient and overweight. He has clear cognitive delays when I make a simple, repeated request to move the seats up so that I'm not eating my knees. Please explain why I'm paying a 2.5x fare to a guy who shows up 1 hour and 15 mins late- to drive what could be someone recovering from a much more serious procedure- cannot competently follow the directions of his in-car nav system, and there is NO WAY this guy is helping me to prevent falling or whatever else a "care companion" would provide while transporting a patient post surgery. Literally, any random Uber driver could have covered all these needs better than Ken- and for $105 cheaper. Not to mention, Ken is a TERRIBLE driver!!! Never had the brakes slammed on so many times in one ride- and again, his job is to transport post-op patients!!! Utterly pissed and frustrated that this is what I have to deal with while trying to get home and rest.

DEC 10 and told them I needed someone on sat and sun and they told me they had changed how they were paid. They had me paying the caregiver $20/hr directly and now they wanted me to pay the company directly and changed min hours from 9 to 12. There was no notice given in advance of this and the said I was supposed to keep track of how many hours their employee worked WTF since when am i responsible for their employee? Jessica was rude on the phone so I hung up on her she was telling me everything was my fault. We started with two days a week, but when things escalated overnight, Assisting Hands was able to accommodate us with 24 hour care, starting that day. It was seamless, on our end. My mom's caregivers are very personable and so patient. Each one can sooth my mom and relax her into a better state of mind. Each caregiver would communicate with each other, and to me, to navigate some of the curve balls my mother would present. I would have been lost without Assisting Hands. I would HIGHLY recommend!

Assisting Hands was highly recommended by my friend so I called Judy and scheduled a meeting. She assured me that she could replace my former service, and with her service I would not have any scheduling problems. She said that Cristina will handle the scheduling and was available to answer any questions or concerns. Her caregivers are attentive to the patient needs, compassionate and my friend is always happy to see them. As a result of their service, I have been able to take some time off without worry. I have been using their service for the past two years and am very grateful for my friend's recommendation.

Our family trusted this agency to help care for my father, who suffers from Alzheimer's. Instead,…read morethe experience became one of the most stressful and emotionally draining situations we've ever dealt with. The caregiver assigned to our family regularly spent large amounts of time on her phone during caregiving hours, including personal calls involving ongoing relationship and family drama. I personally caught her sitting up the street with my father during what was supposed to be a walk while she remained distracted on the phone instead of actively caring for him. Out of respect for her situation and because she has children depending on her income, I chose not to escalate concerns immediately. However, after realizing the level of inattentiveness taking place, I intended to formally address the situation. Shortly afterward, the caregiver abruptly quit, and APS was suddenly sent to our home. APS and law enforcement both evaluated the situation and determined my father was living in a safe environment. The timing of these events, combined with what our family experienced directly, left us deeply disturbed and caused enormous emotional stress during an already difficult period caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's. Families going through dementia care are already overwhelmed enough without fear, instability, interrupted care, and added trauma. I strongly encourage families to stay actively involved, document everything, and pay close attention to how caregivers are spending their time while entrusted with vulnerable elderly patients. Be vigilant with companies that are supposed to support families in crisis, because continuity of care, professionalism, and compassion matter when dealing with elderly patients suffering from Alzheimer's.
