I'm finally getting around to writing this review. Dwight is absolutely amazing!!! In early February we were looking for care for my dad. I called Dwight at 7:30 to leave a message. He actually picked up the phone. He talked with me for about 40 minutes, explaining all the services he offers and how it would look helping my dad (and mom). He knows his stuff! Very compassionate. Knowledgeable. Caring. There are a lot of things to consider when hiring a caregiver. Legalities. Regulations. Matching a caregiver with a client. So much more. Dwight explained it all so clearly. Big one: If you have a long-term healthcare insurance policy, make sure to check the waiting period. My mom hadn't looked at the policy in years, and sure enough there was a waiting period. His advice on activating it was on point. He met with my mom and I within a week of first talking on the phone. He re-explained to my mom all the services he offers. She was able to use him for only a week....my dad returned to the hospital. And never returned home. Dwight was so supportive. Would not hesitate to call Dwight. read more

Well. I have lived at Brookdale Garden Grove for over 6 months.. Best decision I ever made regarding myself. The highlights of many of my days is delicious breakfast .. followed by chair exercises. 10:30 is fabulous crafts . .. talents I didn't know I had!! Your choice of trivia, bingo watching TV In the Resident Lounge. Tuesday is Shopping at local stores. In the first year of needing home health care for our dad, we went through 22 caregivers and ran out of options with the valley agency we intially hired. Needless to say, my sister and I were incredibly particular about our father's care. By year 3 and having exhausted a second agency, we began advertising, interviewing, and hiring independents. Although we had very little turnover, by our 9th year of needing home care, we knew exactly what criteria we wanted in a care giver. So, two weeks after the Covid outbreak, when our weekend caregiver resigned due to a complicated pregnancy, you can imagine how difficult our task of finding a replacement was. We cautiously pursued a replacement, but stopped our pursuit after 3 failed attempts. For almost a year, we had no weekend care. If you're here, looking for care, then you know how difficult the work is. Not everyone can do it and not everyone is good at it. The responsibility shortens tempers and can strain relationships. We had no success getting help from the previous agencies or a third agency. And then I remembered that someone at work mentioned that her fiancé owned an agency. I explained our situation and our particularities to Dwight. We wanted the same care giver every visit and that person needed to have no other clients. Or at the most, one, consistent client to limit our dad's exposure to the virus. Because, even though we were desperate for help, his safety was still our main priority. Dwight understood and scheduled someone to come to the house to make an assessment. I knew our situation was a challenge: we also had cameras throughout the house and required that certain duties occur on a schedule. The price for services was in line with all the other agencies and Dwight and his team matched us with a caregiver right away, giving us help by the following weekend. And when I say that they matched us, I mean they matched us. Not only was our new caregiver qualified and capable, but she had the right personality for our family. We loved Stephanie! We only had Dad with us for a few months after that. But because Dwight and his team had the skill and built the quality of care givers that we needed, we were able to share Dad's last months without the extra stress and exhaustion that comes from the physical responsibility of caring for a loved one. After receiving a referral from a close friend, we decided on Home Helpers in Newport for my grandmother. My grandmother was 95 yo and was recovering from a hip surgery after a fall. We had many concerns as my grandmother barely spoke english, was very resistant to help, and had some memory issues. However the team at Home Helpers really took all of our concerns into consideration and catered their care towards her personality. My grandmother received great care, support, and enjoyed her interaction with her caregiver. This review is longer than I usually write but this was such a personal topic.
