I had my first appointment with Heather already scheduled, but I happened to see her two days before, and she could tell I was experiencing some back pain. She compassionately offered me an appointment that had opened for that afternoon, so I was able to go in early so that she could provide some relief. Even pre-appointment, the experience was already excellent. Heather is great with communication, which was done via text-my preferred method. When I arrived, we talked for a few minutes about how I was feeling, what I had tried, and what we would plan for my treatment. The space was very pleasant and comfortable. An attractive and clear price list was displayed on the wall near my chair (her fees are in line with what I know of the industry standard, and she offers other modalities besides basic massage which I hope to try in the future). During the session, Heather used products with scents and features that I enjoyed and were effective, and she took the time to describe and explain some of them to me. She applied "just right" pressure and communicated with me about that, too! She placed a small pillow over my eyes when I was on my back, which is something I really like and wish more therapists did. One of my favorite and most appreciated moments was when she paused to grab an extra blanket for me because she had paid attention and realized I was cold without me saying anything. (She does have a heated table, but she expertly decided NOT to turn it on since the heat would have exacerbated my inflammation!) In general, I thought the massage was fantastic! Heather has been at this for twenty years, and it shows! I asked many questions during our time together, and she proved to be very knowledgeable in trying to help me understand what was going on in my body. Another thing I very much appreciated was that when I asked about another healing practice with which she wasn't familiar, she didn't pretend to know the answer and instead revealed curiosity and a desire to learn, too! I think this is so important! I had been fairly uncomfortable with the pain I had been experiencing for a few days at that point, so I had no real expectation of feeling a whole lot better after the massage; I just figured it would be a step in the right direction. Well, I was proved wrong! I felt MUCH better when I rose from the table and for the remainder of the evening, and I woke up feeling even better the next morning! Heather counseled me on some steps to take and some gentle movements I could try. I did as she recommended and think these must've also helped. She even sent me a picture of a product we'd discussed shortly after I left the office. Before I'd left, she showed me a device I could order and use at home for times when I wouldn't be getting an actual massage. I am so grateful for Heather's time and care and couldn't recommend her more highly! read more

This was my first visit with Heather. She was referred to me by my PT. I was nervous to go in 1. because it was my first time with her and I have had some really bad massages in the past and 2. because of Covid-19. Let me first say this was one of the BEST massages I have ever had! Heather asked me many questions about the areas I was feeling pain in and she not only worked on those locations but she also shared her knowledge about why I was feeling the pain and then she also shared stretches I could do to relieve the pain. I could tell immediately she was passionate about her career as a massage therapist and she is very good at it! As far as COVID-19 is concerned she eased my fears immediately. She had me fill all of the paperwork out online. She sent a text asking me to text her when I arrived, wait in my car till she was ready for me and to wear a mask. When I got inside she had a mask on and offered me hand sanitizer. I wore the mask while I was face up and it was really ok. When she had me flip over she had me take the mask off and she had a little stand that she had me hang it on and she did not touch it. When we were finished she left the room and I put my mask back in. Very professional and safe. I highly recommend Heather and I have already scheduled my next appointment!!!! Thanks Heather! read more

Despite dealing with semi-persistent arm, shoulder, neck and lower-back discomfort for years, deciding to get my first massage at age 52 came with a not insignificant amount of trepidation. Fueled by ignorance of massage therapy techniques, coupled with mild skepticism surrounding its practice and popularity, I went into my session with a mixture of nervousness and doubt. An hour-and-a-half later my worries and cynicism had dissipated along with my pain. Heather's skill, professionalism, warmth and patience were key factors in my experience being both pleasant and transformative. My massage was thorough, targeted and productive. Dull aches and sharp pains--some I'd experienced while idle and others triggered through simple motions--things I'd begun to accept would be a part of my existence for the rest of my days were drastically diminished or outright eliminated. Additionally, as someone to whom serenity has never come easily, I was delighted when I realized how relaxed both my mind and body were after my session was complete. I am very grateful for Heather's attentiveness and dedication to addressing the needs of her clients. I heartily recommend that anyone interested in markedly improving their state of being avail themselves of the healing arts offered by Optimal Massage. read more

I have been going to Heather Johnson for more than 10 years for massage therapy. I first sought her services for neck pain. It started in 1996 and has caused me a week of missed work because of the excruciating pain. I have always requested deep tissue massage. It was not very long after Heather worked on the area that it got better. She gave me stretches to do which I did them often. I am relieved to say I have not had any neck pain for more than 8 years. I still do my stretches, but not as often. She is currently working on my sesamoiditis (ball of foot bone inflammation) diagnosed by two different podiatrists in 2014. I have confidence in Heather that she will be able to get me on my feet again. I would never trade her for another masseuse. She's extremely knowledgeable about the body; she has studied human anatomy and has taken many medical courses and keeps up with the medical field. And you cannot find a better bedside manner in any person in her field. I have referred many teachers, family and friends to her and they remember and like her very much. read more

Heather is true to her craft as a masseuse, when you get a massage by her it's not like you're getting someone who went to massage school and just goes through the same routine. What you are getting here is much more of genuine setting and service, unlike many of the spas or wellness centers. Which is not to say you cannot get good service at those places. What I am saying is that when you have a masseuse like Heather you know what you're getting each time you go. I would recommend her highly and intend on going back as much as many times my budget will allow. She also has a great booking system online so you can find out when she's available and book it on the spot. This really helps for people who have busy schedules and can see when she's available in advance. One of the most frustrating things about trying to get a massage is calling a spa or whomever and trying to figure out when they can fit you in and who is available. With Optimal Massage you know you're getting Heather and with her online booking system I can get an appointment very easily. read more

I have been getting regular massages for many years and my therapist recently left Orlando. When I saw Heather was close to my house and read the positive reviews, I decided to check her practice out. Heather was very good about establishing needs and understanding any chronic issues I was having. She took time to explain her approach and exhibited a great deal of knowledge which made me feel very good even before we got started. The massage was perfectly suited to my needs and Heather was very good about dialing in the perfect amount of pressure and focus on specific areas. The environment is relaxing and comfortable. Heather is very professional and it's obvious she cares a great deal about her practice. I have already set up three more appointments and will be going here regularly. I'm so happy to have found a new therapist! read more

I began massage after becoming acquainted with it in Alabama. When I moved to Orlando, I looked for a massage therapist and was very happy to find Heather. Her location is so convenient for downtown city dwellers! She is very professional and yet, kind and thoughtful as well. I began as a once a month client and realized how much better I feel with twice a month appts. As I age, I have found that my massage keeps me healthier and more flexible. Heather' s abilities are the reason why. She has really helped my neck disc issues and also my lower back and hips. I look forward to my massage now twice monthly and hope to always continue. I have come to consider Heather a great asset to my health and a friend. I would recommend her to anyone...and have! read more

Heather has been my massage therapist for several years, and she always gives a thorough, personalized massage. However, this week she went over the top and I am so thrilled with the results that I have to share. I have been taking anti-inflammatories for over a month for a sore shoulder with moderate (maybe 10%) improvement but the pain was still limiting my range of motion. So I told her about it at the outset of my session and she performed orthopedic massage on my shoulder which involved very light pressure. The results are amazing. My range of motion immediately increased at least 50% from the moment I got off the table. The pain has decreased tremendously. I feel like I am finally on my way to healing. She really knows what she is doing! read more

Heather is a wonderful massage therapist who possesses a wealth of knowledge on anatomy and a gift for massage therapy. Due to athletics, I experience regular muscle soreness along with the occasional injury, and Heather has drastically improved my mobility, flexibility, and recovery time. She is mindful of my needs and preferences, and she meticulously yet comfortably manipulates areas of tension until they seemingly melt away. I always feel comfortable with her, which allows me to enjoy both the relaxing and relieving benefits of massage therapy. I leave each session feeling refreshed, and monthly sessions have greatly reduced my usual tension knots and muscle pain. I am so glad to have Heather as a regular part of my wellness routine! read more

I had been searching for quite some time for someone who specializes in Ashiatsu massage, and I'm so glad I decided to expand my search area and found Optimal Massage! It was a 30-mile drive for me, but after my experience with Heather, I'll gladly make the trip again. She is incredibly responsive, kind, attentive, patient, and most importantly, she is truly exceptional at what she does. Her skill and attention to detail made the entire experience wonderful. The environment was clean, peaceful, and tranquil, making it easy to fully relax and enjoy the experience. If you're looking for an amazing Ashiatsu massage, I highly recommend Heather at Optimal Massage. The drive is absolutely worth it! I will definitely be going back. read more

Heather Johnson is amazing. I have been seeing Heather for a few months now, and I look forward to our next appointment. Heather always greets with a smile, is easy to talk to, and is receptive to trouble areas and complaints of pain. I am impressed with her knowledge of the human body and the precision and skill in which she resolves my trouble areas and complaints of pain in my upper back. She has also demonstrated stretches and recommended rowing exercises to help improve the strength of the muscles in my back and has suggested other modalities between massages. Heather Johnson is invaluable, a necessity, and a truly gifted and intelligent massage therapist that everyone needs in their life. read more

Massages with Heather are a very enjoyable and crucial part of my pain management regimen. I've got a couple herniated discs in my neck so I'm super careful about who I go to for bodywork. Here's three reasons why you should give a massage with Heather a try if you're on the fence: 1) she's got great experience with a variety of techniques, including ashiatsu 2) she knows what deep tissue really is - and can modify and will listen based on what you need 3) the atmosphere of the location and Heather's personality is calming and restful. She gets booked up because her clients are happy, so definitely get on her calendar if you're looking for a masseuse you can keep going back to. read more

Heather is a amazing professional. I am a regular client for more than a year. I go every week and I love Heather's approach and also her personality. She is very professional, fun and knowledgeable. I enjoy having my regular massage that incorporates different techniques, but I also tried the bare foot massage and also great. Heather really pays attention to your body and work on needed areas without even telling her. Since coming to her practice I learned to pay attention to my body and I am stretching more ( Heather touch me some good ones). I would recommend her services to anyone that is looking for excellent massages and customer service. read more

This was my first professional massage and it was fantastic. Heather was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable as she walked me through the process and asked about any problem areas I have. I described to her that I had TMJ issues and shoulder tension so she recommended some stretches and self-massage technique I could utilize until my next appointment. The massage itself was fantastic- she applied the perfect amount of pressure and was willing to adjust per my request. She even did a special intra-oral massage to help relax my TMJ! Overall, I couldn't have had a better experience; I immediately booked another appointment with her before I left. read more

Great place to get a massage! I have been going to Heather for 7 years now. The location is convenient and tranquil- it doesn't have that "clinical office" feel. She always asks what areas I need worked on and adjusts the pressure to how much I need that day. She is friendly and professional. One of the best aspects is that you get the full amount of time you pay for in your massage. Other places start the clock when you get there even if you are still filling out paperwork. At Optimal Massage the clock only starts when she begins working on you. I refer her to anyone who tells me they need a good masseuse. read more

Heather was really warm and friendly, and was happy to accommodate my needs. From what I experienced, she tends towards a more deep muscle massage, but if it's too much, you just need to say the word and she'll adjust! She keeps the room dark and cozy and the creams and lotions she uses are very relaxing. With almost 17 years experience, she can shift easily between letting you zone out in the silence, or answering questions and maintaining an easy going and enjoyable conversation. Overall I had a wonderful experience and left feeling happier and much more relaxed. read more

Heather was extremely personable. She went through the questionnaire with me in detail, and fully explained the process. This was my first massage in about a year, so I was a little apprehensive and unsure of the exact areas I needed treated. Who knew I had tight forearms?! Heather gave me a little taste of it all in the 45 minutes I had scheduled. I appreciate her attention to detail and concern for my more-sensitive areas. I have already scheduled my next appointment, and will anxiously await our next session. By far the best the massage I've had! read more

I had never worked with Heather before nor had I ever tried Guided meditation. After just one session with Heather I am a huge fan of both. I would recommend Heather to anyone. She spent a lot of time with me before my session talking to me so she would know what was just right for me and my health. That meant a lot to me. That showed she cared about me the client and not just moving people in and out of her studio. Her meditation left me very relaxed. I could literally feel the stress leaving from my body. I can't wait to get another appointment. read more

I am new to Orlando, so I have gone to see a few therapists in an effort to find a place to frequent. As far as the technique and professionalism go, Heather was the best! She consulted me before the therapy to find out what I needed and totally delivered it! Also, she truly meant what she said on the website - the therapy lasted the whole 60 minuntes, unlike other establishments where they count the time for consultation and paperwork as part of the therapy time. Overall I was very pleased with her service and I'd highly recommend her! read more
