This was my first time establishing a primary care physician, and honestly, I was nervous and didn't know what to expect. But Dr. Lyndsay was absolutely amazing. She took the time to really listen to all of my concerns, made me feel completely comfortable, and genuinely cared about what I was going through. I'm here specifically because all these reviews made me nervous to use this place for my new PCP under United Healthcare. What a bunch of bogus mess, and I'm sorry to be so blunt, but all of you people that left 1 star reviews really threw me off and that's not fair because it's misleading. I was assigned Lionel Vasquez FNP as my new PCP. He did a great job addressing all of my concerns, and I had a LOT. I haven't seen a PCP regularly in a few years, and I was hoping to start a regular relationship with one as I am getting older and have some reoccurring issues. I literally gave him a hole smorgasbord of issues I had and wanted to begin addressing, and we talked about all of them. I knew he had other patients, but he stayed patient with me and we genuinely talked about all of my concerns. And I'm grateful for that. I'm not sure what people are expecting from a PCP but the man was a gentleman and extremely professional and did a great job of educating me and starting me off in the right direction. I wish I could outweigh all these 1 star reviews. If you are reading this, and got assigned here as your new PCP from your insurance or are shopping for a new one close by, and you see all of these and wonder how bad it must be, I implore you to meet with Nurse Vasquez yourself and be your own judge. I believe you will find that the things written here in these other reviews are baseless and unfounded. If I could give zero stars I would. My mom was given horrible advice. She was not given any advice about changing her diet or improving her health. Just recommended a bunch of medication's. Then my mom went there for pain and redness in her wrist. It looked red and inflamed. My mom was in pain. They sent her for a stat x-ray but no one has called her for results. She called over the weekend and they told her they were sorry, but no one was available to give her a call. Now it's Monday night and my mom still has not heard anything back all day. Just sitting in pain waiting for the results. No one even bothering to call her. SimonMed has the results they told my mom, but they could not give it to her. They told her that her ordering doctor had to give my mom the results. So they just basically have not reached out to my mom and she is wondering what's wrong and in pain for days on end. read more

The first year living in Gilbert I only saw my gyno as I was pregnant. The second year I just made do by going to urgent care. Every review I read on GP offices around the area made me not want to book with any of them. This year, I'm making sure I take care of myself more so I decided to give Optima Medical a go since they are right around the corner from me. Bookings were easily made via the phone - though staff were short with their interactions. Even when I arrived at the office, they didn't seem to enjoy their job. I wasn't expecting much from this office but Gabbrielle Knape did a stellar job. She had great bed side manner, friendly, genuine and helpful. Her nurse assistant was so cheerful and sweet as well. They welcomed my newly 1 year old into the office and made the experience comfortable for all. I'm really happy to have found this office. I'll definitely be going back. read more

1 star review only because there is no option for 0 stars I would strongly advise against ever visiting an Optima Medical facility. My recent experience with them was nothing short of a nightmare. Their staff is rude and nasty, and it feels like they're more interested in buying up doctor's offices and pushing patients through like a cattle call than providing quality care. I made an appointment three months in advance to get my medication. After the office was sold, they called me to change the time of my appointment and informed me that my doctor was no longer with them. Despite these changes, I showed up to my appointment five minutes early, only to be told I was scheduled at a different location. I immediately headed to the new location, but when I arrived, they refused to see me because I was 10 minutes late. The nurse who greeted me was rude, gave me a sarcastic smile, and demonstrated a complete lack of customer service. This experience left me feeling incredibly frustrated and undervalued as a patient. Optima Medical's handling of appointments and their disrespectful attitude towards patients is unacceptable. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

My 18-year-old daughter aged out of the pediatrician. Cigna recommended this office as it was in-network and close by. She only needed a general physical for a camp counselor application. This was clearly communicated when the appointment was made. They made her do asthma testing. She has an allergist for that. They refused to give her the camp counselor form back until she did lab work including an HIV test. This is not their property. She tried to advocate for herself, but is young and still learning. They totally took advantage of her. So, she had the appointment and still has to go somewhere else to get her form filled out.The office staff was uncaring at best. read more

I went there before they transitioned (acquired by Optima Medical) and it was a straight forward place. I would have given it 5 stars then. I enjoyed the Physician Assistant who is still there and it was a nice enough practice then. Just needed my maintenance (BP) medications refilled and have my annual blood screening. Seems simple enough. However, Optima Medical will charge you for everything including having your blood results read to you. Read your EOB (Explanations of Benefits) and you may be surprised. My suggestion if you don't want to switch practices. Just be aware that they might ask you to come in so the medical personnel can go over your lab results. Don't do it unless you really want to be charged for another office visit. Better yet, order your labs directly from Sonora Quest or Lab Corp labs and read them yourselves. If your concerned then take them in. That way your not paying twice. read more

I used to love this place. But the prices are outrageous. They changed they're office visit fee from $100 to $190 with no notice. You will never see a doctor they only have nurse practitioners that order a ton of tests. MA's are so nice but $190 for a 5 minute visit is outrageous. read more

DO NOT go here. You will not get adequate care, thanks to the rude front desk staff and medical assistants. I had my first appointment on May 5th and asked for my prescription to be sent to a particular pharmacy. It is now July 12th, and I am STILL calling on a weekly basis to get my prescription sent to the right pharmacy. 7 calls later, it's still not moved. This is unbelievable. Every time they say they will, THEY DON'T. If the owner of this office in the replies is really looking to change the way this place runs, it starts with new medical assistants and front desk staff who know how to use a computer. read more

Optima took over from a great family practice and it's gone completely down the drain. The only reason I've stayed is because NP Lyndsay has been being my family for years. If and when she leaves, I will leave. The office staff is often rude and uncommunicative. If you have a choice, go elsewhere. There are *no* doctors on site. read more

Gabby is great! It's the staff that is an issue. I've had maybe one nice MA help me the others always seem to have attitudes. I'm an MA myself and my provider would not be ok with the way most of these girls treat patients. Sierra is one of them. She has always been rude. I called this morning to see if my lab order could be emailed to me she said no ok fine whatever. She said she could fax it to the lab of my choice, so I told her SQ, she asked for a fax number because the locations have different faxes...they do not. I gave her the fax number...she said ok I'll fax it over to SQ when I get to it. Ummmm what? What if I was there already? I've already been fasting for 8 hours and I'd have to wait until you decided it was a good time to fax the order. read more

I've been going to the Chandler Heights location for over 8 years. Ever since they sold to Optima they have been very difficult to deal with. Lindsay is the only reason I return. Today I was hung up on, when I called back to ask who hung up on me I was told "we have a few other answer phones". That's absolutely BS. They initially asked what it was regarding, and I said a mental health situation. So they knew it was not a general checkup. When I called back, the person I spoke with was professional. I asked if I could get on the cancellation list vs coming in in July. They responded saying they don't have a cancellation list. The front office staff is completely rude. I should have known after going in for pre op physical appointment and they put me in a room with no window coverings for outside facing a huge greenway and told me to disrobe. I was very uncomfortable doing so and tried to hide myself from the outside world as I was trying to change from street clothes to a gown. So inappropriate. Then go in a week ago because I had a UTI which I never had in all my 59 years. I had called them the day I saw blood in my urine and told them exactly what was going on and they wouldn't take me that day. So go to urgent care and was seen by an NP who told me she received 2 different results but would treat as UTI and gave me only 5 days of an antibiotic. A week later in extreme pain and called so they saw me the following day which was a week ago today. Said they would culture as UC didn't and would have the results in 3 days. Gave me the same antibiotic as UC. Last Friday started vomiting. Sunday couldn't get warm and still vomiting. Called Monday to give update and see if they would change antibiotics since I was then running a temp of 103. Said no culture results. What? I was told 3 days. Called yesterday to see if they would change my antibiotic and they refused as culture still wasn't back. Seriously? The one they had me on obviously wasn't working. Told me to go to urgent care. Who's going to do that when they weren't thorough the first time and there's never an MD on site, which brings me to the point there's not an actual MD on site at the Gilbert location. Finally told me to go to ER. Told them I didn't have the financial resources to go which fell on deaf ears. So now I'm going to the ER because I'm progressively get worse. If I could give 0 stars I would. Be very leery of this practice read more

The reason this review has 2 stars rather than one is because I am happy with my care provider. I am VERY unhappy with the front desk staff. Since Optima took over, I've found them to be rude, unfriendly, and most of all, officious. Today I called to tell them I might be late for my appointment. I have never been late before and was told I had a 10 minute grace period. I arrived at 10 minutes past and two other people were waiting to be helped. Only one of the two women at the desk was helping patients while the other stared at her computer screen. A simple "someone will be right with you" would have sufficed, but basic service skills are beyond this group. I was told I had been cancelled because it was 11 minutes after. I was not happy! I'm tired of arriving at this office and feeling like I'm a nuisance. I have never once received a smile, a greeting, or been made to feel welcome by the front desk staff. Optima scored a formerly great medical practice and turned into a piece o' crap. I loved my doc, Dorin Pipa. However, since Dr Finkenbiner sold out to Optima, the practice is totally different. Now, if you want to see a real doctor, the wait is FIVE months. However, you can see a questionably trained PA with little to no clinical experience, you can see one tomorrow. No thanks. I am done with Optima and will only go to a practice where I can see a doctor. Dr Popa deserves better. read more

I used to follow with Sundance Medical and was transferred here when they closed. I followed with them for 5 years and it was great. I scheduled my annual check-up here and was seen by Gabrielle, FNP. My "physical" consisted of listening to heart and breath sounds, as well as a breast exam. Literally nothing else. She was getting ready to leave the room and I brought up my hip pain, as it has been bothering me from running. If she had actually done a physical exam, she would have discovered that on her own but she was clearly rushed. Additionally, I requested refills for Singular (asthma medication), which I've been on since I was 19 years old. I am now 33. This is a life-long medication for me. I suffer from no other health conditions and am very informed on my own healthcare, as I'm an RN myself. My asthma is very well controlled. She wrote for a 90-day supply with one refill and told me I need to be seen every 6 months because I have asthma. I complained to the practice manager, who told me she would call me back in a week regarding my request for refills that would last for a year (not 6 months). I never heard back from her despite multiple calls to the office. I'm not going to be returning to this practice. I expect to be cared for the way I care for my patients, and this isn't it. read more

After struggling w them for 10 days, I told them to call n verify that they had the correct fax # on the order. Finally, they called n I was correct. Patient be ware! They gave my husband and i the wrong prescriptions including the wrong insulin for my husband. False information was written in my chart by Mara. These people took over an excellent practice without notifying us in advance. They changed the provider that saw us twice without telling us. The last appointment was with Shana who spoke so loud and rudely to us. No eye contact, spoke so fast i couldn't ask any questions. Then she left after 5 min without even asking if we had questions or anything. They had a letter saying that transition was seamless -WRONG! They didn't have any information from past history, they had medications that have been obsolete for years and when i attempted to provide the updated list it was refused! They refused to give me a referral to a PT so i could pick one myself i was told that was not the way they did it and i had to go all the way to Scottsdale. When i spoke to the manager about this she said the person in charge of this task had hundred of people to write prescriptions for and referrals.... and how is this my problem? They should consider hiring more people. She did give me a generic referral finally! It took my hb over a week to get lancets and for me 2 weeks. They said it was not on our meds list...What!!?? If we get the strips how are we going to use them if there is no blood to check the sugar? Really? I asked to speak to the manager to inquire about the false information Mara wrote in my chart i never got a call back. BE WARE! Go somewhere else! When i informed Mara that i had liked going there because Dr. Barry specialized in geriatrics she said that was her specialty. So when i attempted to clarify of she specialized in seniors she said no. She specialized in adults. Really? Which dictionary does she read? Definitely looking for a real pcp who is really a doctor not just nurse practitioners who are supposed to be supervised by a doctor but there is never a doctor there. Gilbert Location- Don't go here if you expect care and kindness. This used to be One Life with an amazing doctor, Scott Finkenbiner and an amazing staff. Unfortunately, they are missing some key skills needed in the health industry: critical thinking, care, and empathy. A nurse saw my aging father-in-law who has a deep wound from amputation and who is also diabetic. The nurse prescribed name brand drugs that are very expensive and he didn't give us samples to hold us over until we figured out insurance. My father-in-law doesn't have health insurance which resulted in making requests from the drug manufacturers for a discount. The requests involve submitting applications with the signature of the prescribing personnel. I went to the office the day after the visit to have the applications signed. All that was needed was the signature of the nurse who prescribed the drugs and the clinic's information. (I call it a "clinic" because it reminds me of the government clinics where the staff show disdain toward the majority low-income patients.) I told the staff person I would wait for the form since my father-in-law should be fresh on the nurse's mind and all that was needed was a signature. I was told the nurse was busy with patients and the office staff would call me when the papers were signed. I told them I was happy to wait. The woman at the front desk said she didn't know when he would sign them but she would give him the applications and call me when they were signed. I called back today after not hearing from them yesterday. The same person who took the applications answered the phone. She said she put the papers on the nurse's desk and today he was at a different location so he would probably sign them tomorrow. Again, all that is needed is a signature. This is totally unacceptable and I told her as much. This is an urgent situation where the staff are an obstacle to getting affordable medicines. The healthcare system is already a beast to content with. The face of medicine, in this case the staff at Optima Medical, are making it difficult to begin a simple process of requesting a discount for medicine. But more than the lack of care and critical thinking was the perfunctory way the staff person handled this. She said she did her job by putting the papers on the nurse's desk. Clearly she has no sense of urgency nor empathy for the patient's situation. The front desk staff and the nurse need to reflect on why they chose healthcare careers. HealthCARE requires so much more than what they have provided. read more

At first Optima appeared to be an acceptable replacement for my previous providers, Sundance Medical. However, most recent visit today revealed unnacceptable service with an air of "not really caring" about my situation. Appointment scheduled for today from last 6 month checkup. appointment confirmed at least 3 times via text notification from Optima. arrive at office today, told they did not show me with an appointment today (showed them their card from when they scheduled me). Then was told provider is no longer at this location and at another location in Casa Grande. Asked why i wasn't informed of this. Told i was called yesterday at 4:00 and was told thin. Which was not true as at the same time i was supposedly called I was in a Zoom meeting and my phone was right in front of me. Person attempted to schedule me with another provider. But due to my work schedule , other appointments and obligations, none of the appointments would work. Therefore had to be scheduled in February. PROBLEM: I am out of my diabetic medication, Metformin, and they cannot refill until i am seen. In the past if a situation arouse with other providers, they would send a temporary refill for a number of days until my appointment. Not these people. So here i sit with no diabetic medication until February. Not good!!! Their quality of care has declined since they took over and this is not good patient care. And do they care? Said they accidently checked me out instead of checking me in? not sure how they didn't see me in the waiting room for 70 minutes making eye contact with them. Well, its reached that point to finally leave this review. My experience as a patient of Dr. Stephen Panosian at Optima medical hiss led me to find another doctor. After my appointment my doctor recommended medication and then never sent it to the pharmacy. I call the office and he is only available 2 days a week and still does not follow up on either of those 2 days. I must call multiple times a week for several months to figure out why a prescription was not sent over. He has mixed up notes from another patient or misremembered our conversations, saying I refused a medication. I just had an apt with him AGAIN to discuss this ongoing issue and he said he was sending this medication to the pharmacy. The front office staff made excuses that he's only in 2 times a week, but I only call in on those 2 days to follow up with the issues I've been having, and he still is not available. I am told he will follow up with me and they will call me back, but they never do. I have been dealing with this back and forth for about 4 months. When I finally got frustrated, the staff were defensive and abruptly disconnected the call even though I was polite. Yes, I was frustrated but polite to the person on the phone and they were very argumentative. I am a patient with very simple needs and this office cannot seem to manage that much. I strongly recommend working with another medical office. I try to be calm and patient, but this is just too much really. Huge waste of time and money to work with this office. read more
