Not by the hinge, the actual arm itself. I just moved to the PEC area from Toronto and found out about Davids online. Before the move, I must have asked at least 5 optical shops in Toronto if they could help fix my frames. My lenses are quite expensive and were in great shape, relatively new, so I wanted to salvage them. It was one no after the other, most pushing for me to buy new glasses all together. I called Davids the same day I was going into Kingston and the opticians there managed to squeeze me without issue. As soon as I walked in, I knew I was in good hands. They were helping another customer fix the bridge of his glasses. This place is first class in service, and they offer repairs which is becoming more rare these days. This mother daughter optician duo not only fixed the two arms of my glasses , replacing the entire hinge and finding matching arms from a collection of parts they keep onsite to repair glasses, but they took an old frame of mine and within a week made me a new pair of lenses. I have a pretty strong prescription, it usually takes 2-3 weeks at the very least from the time of order. The can do attitude and customer service I received at Davids is truly hard to find in the retail landscape these days. I can totally trust and rely on these opticians with my vision needs. I am over the moon I stumbled on this rare retail gem. Its hard to find this type of service anymore with people who genuinely love their craft and want to help people see better, fairly and with good intention. If you need frames in the PEC, Bellville ,Kingston and surrounding area, seriously this is the place to go. Your eyes will smile!!!

I made the appointment but when I arrived for it I was informed that the email was sent by mistake a week early and I was not eligible for OHIP coverage (I'm over 65). There was absolutely no effort made to compensate me for my trouble, rather i was told that I could re-schedule a week later. I sent a complaint to the parent company Luxotica, but was given a run-around and directed to a non-functioning complaint form. This used to be a good place to go, but in my opinion the customer service has gone downhill. I will be looking for a local optometrist that is not part of a huge multinational enterprise.

I was recently involved in a car accident by a reckless driver. I had called to schedule an eye…read moreexam in order to get a new pair of glasses urgently . I also advised them that I have a medical exemption from wearing a mask and they have refused to render me a service unless I wear one. Their excuse is to protect their elderly patients . I proceeded to send them the Public Health Order regarding public health exemptions and they did not budge. I am currently in the process of filing a Human Rights complaint . Upon reiterating concerns regarding my disability, they stated that I would be REQUIRED to wear a mask in the common areas, but not when I meet with the doctor. Please be aware that they do not make accommodations due to undue hardship for those patients with disabilities.

I had a very negative experience at St. Lawrence optometry…read more The St. Lawerence optometrist Dr. Chippior (whom owns both stores) saw me for a two year follow up appt.. Dr Chippior told me I was borderline requiring glasses and asked me for a two week return visit to re check my right eye. Right after the first visit and without telling me, she advised the MTO that I could not drive without corrective lenses. Dr. Chippior did not advise me of needing corrective lenses nor on my second visit two weeks later She advised me that my new prescription was such a "minimal change" that I would not notice the difference in the glasses. She never informed me that this prescription would require me to wear glasses in order to legally drive a vehicle. This lack of disclosure was both unprofessional and potentially dangerous. I will never see her again nor would I recommend her or her business.
