I came in with broken glasses and they repaired them so I could still use them while waiting for the new ones to arrive. They ordered my glasses super fast. Amazing service! When I got my lenses, the lenses felt like it hadn't been rolled enough in my opinion. I asked for Optica Optometry to roll the lenses further, and they took care of it immediately with 0 question/pushback. They sent them back, had everything redone quickly, and the final result was perfect. They were super punctual, organized, and clearly take pride in doing things right. We just had a fabulous experience! The front desk gal was so kind from the moment we called to make our appointment all the way through end of our visit. The Doctor was extremely thorough and worked well with my kids, aged 9 and 5. He explained everything to us and made us feel very comfortable. They have a wide range of frames. Super cute ones. We didn't have time to buy today, but we'll definitely be back.. The practice recently added an Optomap to their collection of modern technology. It allowed us to not have to be dilated which is worth its weight in Gold... Even better, for a limited time, they are offering it at $0. Valued at $39. I worked in Optical for 20 years, so I feel pretty confident in the things I like/don't like and this team was fabulous!! Check them out!! read more

I am a bit conflicted in writing this, the optometrists and the office were fine during my visits pre-COVID. However, during the midst of the pandemic (very early 2021), I was running out of contact lenses and called the office to see if they could help. It had been just over a year since my last eye exam. They refused to renew my eye prescription unless I came into the office in person. I explained that I had a newborn and was concerned his/my exposure to COVID. They again refused, saying " we were able to get the vaccine early so you will be fine". The vaccine was not available for the public, so I didn't have it. Was it worth a potential risk of exposure to get a new prescription for my contacts? I asked if I could get a few spare contacts while I think about it and they VERY reluctantly agreed. I ended up doing a teledoc with 1-800-contacts to get a renewal. At the same time, I was running out of a prescription medicine and contacted my primary care physician. He told me to NOT come in office because "there's a pandemic going on" and he could send the refill prescription over to the pharmacy. The contrast in responses was drastic. Needless to say, I will not be heading back to Optica. read more

I went for an eye exam a few years back and did not get glasses here since all the frames were above my $200 limit and the selection was extremely limited. The receptionist was nice and looked up and explained my benefits. However the prescription that was given to me was only for one year! All my past prescriptions with other doctors were for 2 years and same with all my friends' and family members that I asked. Over a year later I needed to get a pair of glasses from Costco. I emailed to see if they could extend the expiration date out longer on the prescription but they refused and wanted me to come in for another visit. Seems like they just care about the money instead of helping their clients. I don't recommend. read more

We were in town visiting my husband's family when my husband tore his last contact lens. (I always tell aka nag him to bring extras, but obviously that suggestion was ignored!) We were able to get a convenient appointment with Dr. Lee. It turns out my husband's brand of contacts was not fitting well which is probably what caused the lens to tear when he was taking them out. Dr. Lee had him try a new brand, which my husband says is the most comfortable lens he's ever tried. I'm so thankful for the thorough examination he provided. His expertise and knowledge has saved us from dozens more torn lenses, wasted money, or possibly even damage to my husband's eyes. Everything from the phone call to schedule the appointment to the interaction with the staff and doctor was very pleasant here. I am truly impressed. I'm going to figure out how I can make a pit stop on our NorCal trips for yearly exams with Dr. Lee. I also can't wait to browse their selection of glasses! read more

My 19-year-old son just came back in tears of joy from the improvement in seeing for the first time in who knows how long. He has been to other ophthalmologists but after going to Optica and seeing Dr. Marianne Florendo he was diagnosed for Keratoconus and Astigmatism. He started the process for his lenses after a bit (he was skeptical he would have such improvement). Dr. Florendo worked and worked with him and his specialty lenses, and he finally got it, knows how to put on & take off and now is completely amazed at his vision. He did not realize what life was like being able to see clearer. I am forever grateful for Dr. Florendo and Optica. I absolutely recommend them. read more

I moved from orange county last year and was in desperate need of an optometrist since I couldn't go to the same place that I've been going to since I was a kid! I found this place on yelp while I was in the area and decided to give it a try. I came in on a Saturday and was greeted right away by the receptionist. I wasn't too sure what my insurance would cover but since I have vsp, she was able to look me up right away and gave me a quick and easy rundown of what my insurance covers. I hate dealing with insurance so she made this process super easy and painless. I was able to see Dr.Lee right away. He was very thorough and very personable throughout the whole process. During our conversation, I found out he went to the same optomerty school as my best friend! Such a small world. Dr.Lee and his staff made the entire process so easy especially since I was a new patient. The office is super clean with brand new machines and there are a good selections of sunglasses and prescription glasses. Great customer service by Dr.Lee and his staff. I highly recommend this place. And I'm so happy and relieved I found a reliable and trustworthy optometrist here in the bay area!!!! read more

Long story short. I went up norcal to play in a basketball tournament and forgot to bring contact lenses. With my terrible nearsighted asian eyes there was no way I was going to play basketball without those contact lenses. I searched for the closest optometry office which happened to be Optica Optometry of Milbrae. I explained my sob story to them and asked if I can get some sample contact lenses to last me for the weekend. The staff was super nice and the doctor ended up giving me some sample contacts without any trouble (they had to confirm my contact lens prescription and that was it!). I offered to pay for the samples and they just said it was on the house and good luck at your game! Small nice gestures like this is what makes the world great. Thank you for making the world great Optica Optometry! BTW: I should of just played the basketball games without contact lenses cause I SUCKED! LOL. read more

What a great little office! I haven't had much experience with eye doctors in the Bay, but I was hoping I would find a convenient place with competent Docs and some nice frame options. As it turned out, Optica was precisely what I was looking for! Clean, convenient, friendly and easygoing. Their glasses selection was awesome, and I was able to get some custom lenses & Chloe frames. I love this place! Everyone is professional and friendly. The optometrist is polite and to the point and the front desk was very helpful with scheduling the appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Wilson Lee. He's very knowledgeable and puts me at ease. He knows a lot more than other optometrists I've frequented in the past. He was also extremely patient and took his time to explain everything. I never felt rushed and knew I was getting the best care. I was there with my husband who needed to get glasses. They were very attentive and helpful as we went through all the options for the different types of frames and lenses. The office is located in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of street parking which is always a plus. Moved to the peninsula and needed a new contact lens prescription. I found Optica on Facebook and decided to come in due to its close proximity to me. Let me say first that I HATE being upsold and given the run around. I saw Dr. Lee and was in and out fairly quickly. He had a great attitude and didn't try to upsell me on any services or products. From my first encounter with the receptionist on the phone all the way until I picked up the glasses, the whole process was flawless. I called the day before to make an appt and they were able to fit me in on the next day! The optometrist was super friendly and thorough, explaining everything he was checking for. Didn't feel rushed at all and answered all of my questions! You can really feel the passion he has for his job! They are really high-tech! The check-in is electronic and since my mom has glaucoma, they did an amazing scan of my optic nerve and explained the results! The opticians were so helpful and friendly in helping me choose glasses! Thank you, Optica! Anyone with a baby knows that as babies develop, they learn to grab things with their hands. Of course, my baby snatched my glasses off my face and broke them. Rather than wearing a pair of glasses glued together (or only contacts) for a prolonged period of time, I needed to find a optometrist quickly. A friend referred me to Dr. Lee at Optica, who was able to squeeze me in on a Saturday, shortly after my glasses broke. I was in and out of the office in no time. The examination was quick and easy. Dr. Lee was incredibly knowledgeable and professional. In fact, I never knew anyone could know so much about contact lenses and contact lens solutions. Optica's selection of glasses were all modern and fashionable. I found a pair that was just right for me (namely one that can withstand a baby). They had my insurance information ready to go so I knew exactly what my cost would be. If your baby broke your glasses, I would highly recommend going to Dr. Lee and Optica. My family and I wanted to see a new eye doctor because our old doctor didn't do weekend appointments. I worked in Millbrae for 11 years and I am familiar with the hood. I called to make an appointment for my entire family, we were seen right away. Dr. Lee is a very young doctor but he certainly knows his craft. We were immediately comfortable with him. Vivian is a breath of fresh air, with her very pleasant personality (she was always smiling) and very patient with our questions. We have VSP insurance so the costs of our prescription and visit were kept to a minimum. They have good selections of frames and lenses. Thank you, Dr. Lee and Vivian. read more

Four words: Dr. Lee is amazing! Have you ever felt like you were getting rushed out of an appointment? I never realized until I had an appointment with Dr. Lee. He took his time to make sure that I left seeing my best. I have worn glasses since middle school and I don't remember seeing as clearly as I do now. I almost ran out of contacts because I lagged so long to make an appointment. He gave me a sample of the same prescriptions that I need to wear in the meantime while I wait for the new ones to come in. Customer service at it's finest! Happy I found this office. Called on Monday and found a time that worked for me on Friday. Clean, neat, and well organised office. Front office was pleasant and professional on the phone and in person. Dr. Florendo seated me quicky and talked me through her entire exam. While my eyes dilated I shopped for new frames. No pressure. Just nice assistance. Finished the exam, printed a prescription and emailed me the form. Parking is a bit tough as it is downtown, but not bad at all. I'll be back in a year. read more

Optica Optometry is in a pretty chill area of Millbrae. There isn't a parking lot but street parking was easy to find (pay attention to signs as there are restrictions). The staff was very friendly and made sure I was well accommodated during my visit. I decided to check this place out since I haven't gotten my eyes checked in a long time. I was seen by Dr. Lee and he made sure to answer any questions I had. The eye exam didn't take long at all, probably about 20 minutes. My prescription wasn't very severe but I will be back to get frames and whatever else I will need in the future! read more

I haven't gotten my eyes checked for more than 3 years (even though my VSP pays for a yearly exam!), so it was definitely time again! I decided to give this place a try since it was convenient and parking was easy. I was able to get an appointment on the same day and Vivian at the front desk helped to get my VSP insurance ready before the appointment. What impressed me was that their check-in process was on an iPad -- no more old school paper. What really impressed me was all of their high-tech equipment! I really felt like my eye health was looked at really carefully. Dr. Florendo was extremely thorough at explaining everything. She was really friendly and efficient, too. She would do great with my son's exam. So it turned out that I do have a slight prescription and I ended up getting a nice pair of polarized lenses to go along with my Chloe frames. VSP helped to cover most of the costs, so I was happy to pay extra to get a premium product. Now, the biggest dilemma -- should I return to get those Ray Ban frames that I've been eye-ing?! haha read more

Marianne was my doctor and she was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. She made everything extremely simple for me. She answered all my questions and gave me great feedback. I felt like I was talking to a good friend. I saw her a bit with another client. He was a young man about 9 or 10 and she had the little boy laughing and smiling. I would give her 6 stars if I could. I had my eye exam with Dr. Lee at this beautiful office. The check in process was easy and they had my VSP insurance pulled up and ready for prior to my visit! The exam process was smooth and they have this cool machine that takes pictures of my retina, which I've never had done before. Friendly service in a neighborhood setting, nice glasses selection, professional eye doctors. Would recommend to others. I found this place on Yelp, and to my surprise, everything that was said about this place still holds true! The staff (Casey, I think) was able to get my VSP ready for my exam and I was scheduled on the same day. Lots of parking around. The building is basically a house on the corner of Taylor and Magnolia, but the actual entrance is on Taylor. Originally I thought the office was going to be a lot bigger, but it's actually quite cozy. I was seen by Dr. Florendo who was very friendly and professional. She answered all my questions about contact lenses, glasses, and even LASIK! I am so glad I came here and had my questions answered because I was always wondering if I could get the surgery done. Dr. Florendo mentioned that they work with one of the best surgeons in the Bay Area. Other random things to note: The exam room and equipment is nice and updated with all the fancy machines. No need to check eye pressures with the air puff (they used a different, way easier method)! They have a good selection of glasses and sunglasses. When Optica Optometry arrived here, I was hesitant to visit, unsure if they were connected to the old place. Whew and hallelujah, they have no affiliation to the now thankfully defunct Millbrae Vision Center! I wanted to be open and give them a chance, especially because they are literally a few blocks away from my house. Trying Optica proved one of my best decisions ever. Dr. Wilson Lee is the best optometrist I've been to (and since 5yrs old, I've been to dozens) ... most of my visits have been with him, and my encounters with Dr. Chew and Dr. Florendo, have also been very positive and professional. I've seen Dr. Wilson Lee several times, two years in a row, for an eye exam, follow-up appts for tweaking/problem-solving, and adjustments to frames for my myriad glasses, and had 5 pairs of glasses (incl. one pair rx, sunglasses) made, plus 2 more in the works (I'm obsessed with eyeglass frames :-) My husband also saw Dr. Lee for an exam and pair of transition glasses. Over many visits, I see Dr. Wilson's committed to patient care, his clinical philosophy, and ethic is top-notch: he's young, but sufficiently experienced in being absolutely confident in what he knows, and he buttresses his knowledge with action. He's the real deal--never phones it in, never goes on auto-pilot, in command of the science and enthused about his profession and passionate about doing stellar work, unwavering in his efforts to solving hard problems, e.g. when we made a couple of pairs of glasses with the correct rx., but I continued to have problems reading, the issue was exasperating, and bewildering, seemed to make no sense, given their lab was giving the correct rx. They made two separate glasses with the same rx., and though I could see distance, words on a page were blurry. It was not an issue of having separate rx's for near and far sightedness because I wear glasses fitted with monovision. The initial difficulty fitting me properly was a strange and seemingly unsolvable problem. Yes, I felt frustrated for myself, but also felt empathy for them, felt bad that they were going to so much trouble for me, afraid I'd become the 'problem patient.' If the doctors were frustrated, they did not show it and were consummate professionals. Though I was frustrated, I could not blame them, because my eyesight is a mess, no joke--very high rx., difficult to fit, and extraordinarily expensive lenses to grind. To dig deeper into this, Dr. Lee had set up an appt for me on a Sat afternoon, making sure I was the last patient of the day, where we wouldn't be rushed and could devote sufficient time to solve the issue. He spent a good bit of time, trying x, y, and z, did sort of another exam, checked a and b...and voila! He stumbled upon a possible hypothesis and solution: digitally surfaced lenses don't work...apparently, I need the conventional blah blah. I don't understand the theory and technology behind the solution, but I don't need to grok it; I needed only for him to fit me properly, which he did in spades. Btw., if ever you want an optometrist with ready nerdy in-depth explanations of the biology, mechanisms, and processes of the human eye, Dr. Lee is the guy; I get a kick out when I ask what I think is a simple question and am treated to a dissertation length precis--I've learned more than I did in biology, lol :-) One of my frames, though I did not buy from them, but bought from a niche specialty boutique that specializes in infant/children's frames,I took into Optica and asked them to put in my current rx.,m which they did willingly. I loved that they did not warn me that if they break, they won't be responsible, etc. I've gotten this attitude from other optometrists, which always leaves me with a bitter taste. Instead, Optica was gracious about it, and the frames are currently in process. Vivian and Casey, the two receptionists do much much more than admin stuff--I wouldn't be surprised if they're trained optician's, e.g. dispensing advice about frame size and fit on my face, etc. They're both super responsive, warm, and friendly. They answer calls and emails in a timely fashion ... I adore them both. They're each willing to hunt down my needs for cute, stylish, funky frames, which is no small feat because I have a very petite face and need children's frames, e.g. 41, 42, 43 mm max, most of which are boring, and require Vivian and Casey to scour the earth and hunt down stuff I might like. They're also willing to look into frames I send them via email, locating their availability, etc. I've found their prices to be more than reasonable for the services, from eye-exams to glasses, even for a high rx like mine--they're eminently well-priced and no way do they gouge their patients. Did I mention they accept VSP? It's my annual treat. Having them here literally at the end of my street is like a shimmering rainbow at my feet :) read more

Dr. Lee gave both of my kids eye exams and my daughter ended up with her very 1st pair of glasses. I recently had some discomfort in my eye and figured it would be easier if I went into the optometrist. The problem was I've never visited an optometrist. Another patient referred me to Dr. Lee at Optica. I figured I was going to lose one eye, but Dr. Lee was very thorough at diagnosing what was wrong and put me at ease. On top of that he gave me a follow up call to check in and about a week later! It was unecpected but a very nice touch.
