I was transferred through three different departments, rep, providing my information and the purpose of my call each time, and then placed on hold for 22 minutes with no one ever picking up after the third transfer. I'm told I can pick one up in the local branch But it won't have the tap to pay feature. Talk about outdated and out of touch with the times. Oh, and don't get me started on the crappy app with major lag time and how only sometimes taking a picture of a check to deposit works and other times it reason . I honestly hate banking here and will absolutely be transferring elsewhere as soon as I have the time to sort it out and make the switch.

Warning! Important Information About Oportun This company…read moreis completely unreliable. If you're considering taking a loan from them, please be extremely careful! Two years ago, I took out a loan using my car title as collateral. I paid off the loan early on August 8, 2024. They promised that my title would be mailed to me within a week. However, eight months passed and I never received it. During this time: I called them dozens of times, but was kept on hold for long periods. They frequently disconnected my calls after saying "I'll transfer you to a manager." When I visited their office, they treated me rudely and lied repeatedly. Instead of resolving the issue, they kept trying to offer me new loans. Eventually, I filed lawsuits against them in Santa Clara County Court for fraud and document forgery. Soon, they will be legally required to return my car title based on the court's decision. Terrible customer service. Your important documents may not be safe. They aggressively push new loans instead of resolving existing issues. Bottom line: Stay away from this company! Do not let them take advantage of you. Remember, in America, the law protects your rights use it!

Would you pay a thief $5 to steal however much they decide to take from your wallet? Oportun is a…read morescam. This company misrepresents their intentions with your accounts and mysterious "admin fees" as they take money arbitrarily without notice or approval from you. Why would I pay $5 a month for them to appropriate some unknown amount monthly into their account when I already have a savings account? I do NOT have a loan with them, they literally took the money and the amount or transaction did not appear anywhere on my Oportun funds. Ask yourself why would you pay $5 a month for them to take however much they want for services you did not approve. Again this a scam company. When I called the rep was very rude and refused to tell me where in their agreement I authorized any moneys to be transferred and she could not provide any specific information. I asked when they got approval from me to transfer any funds other than some monthly fee and she refused to answer, instead kept repeating the same accusation that I approved it which they have no record of. I demanded the money be returned including the $5, the rep stated I would not receive the $5 but the $79.48 would by returned in 1-5 business days. Bottom line is that this is a fraudulent company. I had no loan with them, and they appropriated money without my consent and without notice they'd be taking any amount they want at the time. They should be ashamed of themselves. If my money is not returned I will sue them, and at the very least I'm reporting this to my bank, the FCC and BBB.

I obtained an auto loan through MeriWest Bank, and everything seemed fine at first. However, a few…read moremonths ago, I noticed an additional $150 charge appearing on my statements for what they claimed was insurance coverage. I was never notified about this charge in advance, and it came as a complete surprise. To clarify, I never lapsed in my insurance coverage. I did switch insurance companies during that time, but my coverage remained continuous without any gaps. Despite this, MeriWest imposed these forced-placed insurance fees anyway. I've submitted proof of my liability coverage multiple times, including policy documents showing active insurance throughout the period. Over the past several months, I've reached out repeatedly via email and phone calls to resolve this issue. Each time, I get promises of review or escalation, but nothing happens. I'm still being charged this extra $150 every month, and I haven't received any reimbursement for the wrongful charges that have already been deducted from my account. This has added unnecessary financial strain and frustration to what should have been a straightforward loan process. I strongly advise potential customers to be cautious with MeriWest's auto loans. Their handling of insurance verification and customer support has been abysmal, with no accountability for their errors. If you're dealing with similar issues, document everything and consider escalating to regulatory bodies like the CFPB. One star - avoid if possible.
