Local delivery is available for a fee. My husband and I shopped here one time. Employees immediately and kindly served us. Many baked goods in the display cases looked tempting, so I needed time to make up my mind about what I wanted to buy! I chose baklava (4 stars, thick layer of nuts), lady lock (4 stars, not quite as good as my mom-in-law's), apricot sourcream (4 stars), snickerdoodle cookie (4.5 stars), and Very Berry Napoleon (5, nicely fruity and sweet). The total price for these five baked goods was $10.46.

To that end, some things here are tastier than others. They highly recommended their Bavarian Cream donut, and it really is filled with a lot of good quality whipped cream. That said, I found the donuts to be squishier than I really like--they don't have a certain fresh-fried crispiness to them. Which is representative--they have good stuff, and a wide selection of Pittsburgh-area classics, it's just not at a super incredible tier of freshness.

Unassuming from the outside, it is a small bakery with plenty to offer in the form of homemade baked goods, as well as some candy thrown in for good measure. We enjoyed their maple pastry and they delicious cinnamon roll. The baker was a bit rearranged from the movie - no big deal - and the service was super friendly and answered our questions on when they came to tape for the movie. It was a fun stop and their baked goods are truly delicious.

As you may know, part of the movie was filmed in Ambridge and this bakery is used in one of the scenes. The main characters visit this bakery and have a Swedish eclair, or Semlor. I was hosting our book club this week and thought it would be fun to pick up some semlors for our treat. I called the day before (not realizing they are closed Sunday-Tuesday) to place an order for 18 semlors. They said it would be no problem to make them for me, even though I only gave them just over 24 hours notice. The bakery was beautifully painted back to how it was originally when it opened many many years ago. There is limited seating (only one small table and two chairs) so it's not really meant to be an eat-in bakery. The semlors were a hit with book club! Everyone enjoyed them quite a bit. They did seem to be a little dry to me. Not sure if we got "day old" semlors or they were just drier than I would have guessed. The filling was delicious and plentiful. Would love to come back and try some other items they have--the giant cookies look so yummy!

But when you can buy bread that literally just came out of the oven, or croissants, pastries, muffins, and scones that were just made an hour ago, you've got to come here. They will even slice your bread if you ask, which is service that goes above and beyond. Cons: You will not be blown away by the ambiance. The bread is sold literally in the entrance way of the business. You may be parking next to an 18-wheelers loading or unloading. But who cares, their bread is awesome! Products include deli loaves (e.g., multigrain, challah, pumpernickel, rye, and sourdough), sandwich buns (e.g., white, wheat, pretzel, and potato), table loaves (e.g., ciabatta, Italian, chili cheddar, chocolate cherry, focaccia, and pecan cranberry), dinner rolls (e.g., challah, French, onion poppy, and rosemary), and baguettes (e.g., sourdough, multigrain, and sesame seminola). I saw on their website that they also have a cakehouse that bakes custom cakes with various icings, fillings, and toppings. For my first purchase, I ordered five breads from Mediterra Bakehouse. All of the breads were a very large size and were fresh, and they cost about several dollars each. Here are my reviews for them: Farm deli loaf - 3 stars - The physical shape and design of this bread was gorgeous, but the flavor was a little plain. Challah hamburger buns - 4 stars - These hamburger buns tasted good. They were very large, so I had extra bread around my hamburger patties. Mt. Athos fire bread - 3 stars - This wheat bread was a generous size, but it tasted slightly plain. Hawaiian dinner rolls - 5 stars - These dinner rolls were moist and had a slightly sweet flavor. Parmesan pepper loaf - 2 stars - This bread contained way too much pepper and too little parmesan. It was so peppery that I threw away most of it. UPDATE on December 26, 2021: A few weeks ago, I rated this business as 3 stars, but I am now increasing my rating to 4 stars after I bought three more of Mediterra's breads. Here are my reviews for the breads: Stollen - 5 stars - This bread contained nuts and dried/candied fruits, and it was covered in powdered sugar. My husband and I really enjoyed the taste of this bread. Chocolate cherry - 4 stars - This bread loaf contained cocoa powder, dark chocolate, and dried cherries. I prefer milk over dark chocolate, but I still enjoyed the flavor of this unique bread. Pecan cranberry - 4.5 stars - This wheat bread contained cranberries and pecans. I really liked the combination of flavors.

I saw display cases that contained cupcakes, scones, rolls, cheesecakes, brownies, blondies, etcetera. I purchased four baked goods: one cinnamon roll, two cookies, and one muffin. After I paid several dollars for my four baked goods, I noticed several slips on the wall. The employee said that the slips were prepaid and that customers could use the slips to receive free foods. How nice! I appreciate whoever paid for those slips. I ate my four baked goods at home. The snickerdoodle cookie (5 stars) was one of my favorite snickerdoodles that I have ever eaten in my life. The cinnamon roll (4.5 stars) was a large size and had a sweet maple flavor that I liked. The banana-caramel muffin (4.5 stars) was nicely sweet and was topped with a banana chip. The oatmeal-raisin cookie (4.5 stars) was medium-sized and had the right ratio of ingredients. Overall, Sugar Butter Bakery's selection of baked goods was not large, especially in the late afternoon when I went, but their quality was high. I recommend stopping in Sugar Butter Bakery if you are in the area.

The cake was fresh and had tart flavors, and the icing tasted sweet. Cherry pie bar - $3 - 4 stars - This bar contained a top layer of cherries. The flavor of cherries was subtler than I had expected. Apple pie bar - $3 - 3.5 stars - This bar contained a very thin layer of apple. I would recommend adding more apples for more flavor. Lemon pie bar - $3 - 5 stars - This bar had a strong taste of lemon and a nicely crispy crust. Cherry-chocolate scone - $3.25 - 3.5 stars - This scone was a large size. It contained a thin layer of cherries and chocolate chips. 6 various cookies - $5 - I rate the peanut-butter cookie as 4 stars, the sugar-sprinkle cookie as 3.5 stars, the snickerdoodle cookie as 3.5 stars, the chocolate-chip cookie as 3.5 stars, the oatmeal-raisin cookie as 4.5 stars, and the chocolate-cherry cookie as 3.5 stars.
