I was a guest of a member during the 18-inch snow storm, so I wore my $500 dollar suede Danner lights (Made in the USA) to manage the snow. Upon entry, I was informed by the staff that, due to the suede being too light, it looked too much like Timberland boots, which are banned. I was professionally whisked to a backroom, where I was offered to wear black loafers 3 sizes too large if I wanted to make my appointment. I spent the rest of my time skipping through the venue in order to not trip over myself, wearing massively oversized shoes. I would have been okay with this footwear restriction if it was universally enforced, but there were plenty of people in the club wearing duck boots, metal hook leather hiking boots, and even the same type of boots of a slightly darker shade. Apparently, the shoe shade restriction was not something members are aware about (the no sneakers restriction is well known). I have previously been a guest here with positive experiences. However, today I was put in an illogically unsafe experience, forced to wear loaner shoes 3 sizes too large, because $500 lighter suede boots are deemed less classy than duck boots for being too"Timberland like" during a snow storm.

From the kind gentleman holding open the front door to the refined hosts at the entrance it was nothing short of wonderful. I was there a couple of years ago for a gala in the ballroom and it was exceptional but the small private lunch this past Thursday in a secluded dining room on the seventh floor felt like royalty.

My head was on a SWIVEL ready for someone bursting through a door with an axe. I was completely lost looking for "Room #4," and began to spiral. I soon realized that I just took the wrong elevator, and found the room pretty easy once I took the correct elevator lol. Once I gathered my composure and found Room #4, I could finally appreciate how stunningly beautiful this place was. It is like an Oligarch's MANSION straight from the 19th century. It's tasteful luxury, when luxury meant more than just cookie cutter modern architecture. They had an open bar and some bomb horderves all night, with my favorite being this fresh tuna on top of a cucumber. I ate like 30 of them. Me and the lady in a tuxedo walking around with the tray became well acquainted. I honestly have no real idea what this place is, but I imagine it's a members only club where the rich and famous gather to make important decisions. That's the vibe at least. Kinda eerie. It was a four hour extravaganza of wonderful flavors and beautifully presented food…read more We went home with more gifts than usual from a course meal. Hand painted chocolates, a signed menu from the chef, cookies, a house made chocolate bar. The tapioca, oyster caviar dish was the most delightful and delicious dish hands down. I will come back for this! As each course came we were so delighted, we were laughing because everything was so delicious. We asked for a printout of the menu early so we could refer to the details of the ingredients as we ate. We hear the menu changes every three days. Naturally I have to wonder what they will have for me when I return! The dessert was like the finale in a fireworks show, it was an onslaught of choices! The cappuccino was exquisite including the special raw sugar from... Columbia if I remember properly. I wanted to pour it in my pockets and take it home-haha. Although many people presented and talked to us about each dish, Samantha as our main waitress and being from the PNW we loved her non-stuffy, warm approach. She was funny and felt like a friend . Two out of the three of us had the lowest level wine pairing and it was $750pp. I can't drink that much anymore so the Sommelier helped with a glass for me. There was a Chablis in the tasting that knocked our socks off! Happy we also received a menu of the wine.

What an experience!…read more Starting my review by reassuring you, get the wine flight to pair with your courses (we went with the baseline). The personalization of the wine to the food along with the explanation by Brian, made the experience even better. He was very thorough, I could imagine the locations and atmosphere of the wine in my mind. For all courses, I would stick to the baseline options and only swap out the salad to upgrade for the foie gras. In my opinion- all else is good to keep as is. I upgraded my lamb dish for the Wagyu and I would recommend sticking to the lamb, no need to upgrade for a just as good or maybe even better flavorful dish. Oyster and pearls was a perfectly executed and exceptional dish. The ambiance is what you would expect it to be, classy, dim, perfect for a date night or celebration with windows overlooking Central Park. We had a tour of the kitchen and wine cellar afterwards. This was such a great experience and I absolutely recommend it!

We haven't been back since our disappointing experience last time but decided to give it a try…read moreagain and we also took our 2 kids (age 10 and 8) there this time for their winter restaurant week. Their restaurant week menu was one of the most affordable and worth going for in the city, it was $60 for a 3 course meal and I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion that was given. We were also given 4 choices to choose from for the 1st and 2nd course while some may have additional supplemental costs. I opted for the Maine scallops as my first course and the scallops were big, aromatic, and cooked to perfection. The acid from the orange reduction helped lightened the dish making it the perfect starter course. My son ordered the cured hamachi and even though it didn't work out very well last time I had that dish, I noticed a subtle difference this time and the citrus broth was much more flavorful this time. My daughter ordered their heirloom beet salad which is beautifully plated. It was almost too pretty to eat. The beets were fresh and it was delicious when paired with the creamy Burrata. I think I loved the beet salad the most and would definitely order it again. I ordered the pork tenderloin for my second course. The meat was tender, juice, and cooked to a perfect medium which is how I like it. However, I did find the sauce a little too salty when eaten alone but was perfect when eaten with the apple as the acid helped balance out the saltiness. I just wish there's 1 more slice of apple instead of one. My kids ordered their salmon which both of them enjoyed very much. The salmon was moist, tender, buttery but I just wish the skin was crispier. To my surprise, both of them said the highlight was the broccolini which unfortunately I didn't get to try because both of them devoured everything before I got to it. For the dessert, I ordered the hazelnut mousse tarte. Their desserts were always well executed and this is no exception. I really enjoyed the combination of flavors and balance of textures. The hazelnut's richness was balanced out by the bergamot creme and vice versa so it wasn't too sweet or too sour. The tarte itself was crunchy and flaky, which I enjoyed eating against the mushy mousse. We also received much better service this time. Our servers took their time to explain each dish to us and they were definitely more attentive compared to last time. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience this time and am glad they've improved which the last time we went. It is very children friendly so we would definitely be back with our kids soon.
