I am so happy to share this review about NORY in the Upper West Side. We are new to the city and I am so glad I found NORY. My kid has loved spending the winter break here everyday. The instructors in the class are kind and fun, the instructions for parents were super clear, the check in and check out processes are smooth and easy. The other kids coming in seem to be happy as well. I can make reservations for camp days online and They also have early drop off and extended pick ups available The projects they have done every day last week are interesting and engaging for the kids. My 5 year old comes home and demonstrates them every day. It has been fun watching him be so happy and engaged there. Apparently he even made a friend or two. And, most important thing is - everyone I have interacted with at NORY has been so kind - yes, each and everyone! I wish they'd also expand to do afterschool programs in the UWS, because I would want to sign up my kid for that... But meanwhile, we hope to be back in the next break season for camp again! My 3-year-old son had his very first camp experience this past summer at Nory Camp, and it was amazing. Nory's STEM-focused curriculum keeps the kiddos engaged while also teaching them teamwork, problem solving, creativity, and many other fine and gross motor skills that are appropriate for their age group. I was very impressed with the woodworking projects my son would bring home nearly every week for 7 weeks; the woodworking projects gave him hands on learning opportunities at such a young age. Also, the staff during my son's time at camp, really cared about my son and other kids in the program. The site director at my son's UWS site - Mariam - is such a phenomenal (calm, supportive) and incredible leader. Mariam and her staff did such a wonderful job supporting my son's social development - esp. his curiosity and high energy - during the summer period. Additionally, Nory's Co-CEO (Peter Seo) was always available to listen and take feedback from parents - and in one instance, he incorporated changes right away! This spoke volumes to how much care he and the Nory team put into ensuring that positive experiences are what a child's time at camp should be centered on! My partner and I are already planning to register our son for future programs (holiday camps during the 2025-2026 school year and hoping for another summer one in 2026); I highly recommend NORY to any family looking for a learning and care focused camp program for their little ones. read more

Fun camp with novel and hands-on activities! My 3 year old enjoyed learning and being around the other kids and counselors

My 7-year-old had a fantastic experience at NORY STEM camp this past summer. She previously attended a few of their school holiday camps, but we needed a last-minute summer option for three weeks. The program accommodated our last-minute sign-up, and she was greeted with a smile on the first day. She was excited for each week of activities (and program-provided lunches), came home with plenty of fun projects, and enjoyed the 3x/week swimming add-on (which many NYC camps don't have!). NORY has some of the most friendly, enthusiastic counselors I have ever encountered, and we are looking forward to jumping at the chance to enroll her again next year. read more

This was our second summer sending our son to NORY and it has become an absolutely highlight of our year. The staff are extremely responsive, communicative, and accommodating and make the summer a joy, both for our son and for us. With flexible hours for early drop off and late pick-up it is the essential choice for working parents, all while knowing our son continues to be engaged with critical thinking in a fun, interactive and hands-on environment. My son absolutely loved coming to this camp every day. The teachers were kind and kept the kids challenged all day. I love that he came home with a project every week that he was so proud to show off. He came home talking about everything that transpired that day from playing games, to building robots, to having water play at the local playground. It was great to see him excited about all things stem related every day! We will be coming again next summer for sure! It's the best kids camp in NYC. A rare camp where kids actually learn. Learn electronics, magnets, drilling, using glue gun, infrared lights, motion sensors, and so on and so forth. Your mind will be blown away with what your kid will bring home from Nory. Also, Nory has the best administrators. The communication is convenient, very quick, very polite, and they will take time listening to you if you have any feedback. I promise you there is no better camp in the city read more

Perhaps you, like us, are searching for a tech camp that would actually deliver on their promises and enrich your child's summer? LOOK NO FUTHER. We've tried other camps, that claimed to do so much, and dissappointed us every time. You don't have to do that, because NORY is hands down the best option. Maker State plopped our kid in front of a computer to play Roblox, and Lavner made great claims that my child was coding things, but we never saw any proof, and my kid only spoke about how things were *supposed* to work, but didn't. NORY is different. My kids come home with completed projects every week. Sure, they pile up over the summer, and they are absolutly not perfect, but that's how I know my kids really DID and LEARNED! They can tell me every aspect of what they did, even the 5 year old, and my 8 year old has discovered coding through NORY, and they love it. Our kids rushed into camp every day with a smile, and came home every day with a smile. There were water days, and soccer (this is an add-on, as is swim), prizes they felt like they earned, and AMAZING food. They've already asked me to come back next year. Councilers/teachers were happy to be there, and excellent at their job, and the customer service from the main office was superb. I really can't say enough great things about NORY. Signed up my soon to be 3 Y/O for just one day so I could run errands. She was very excited to meet new friends and "learn to build things." I was so excited for her too. When I received her at pickup, she was happy to see me but expressed that she didn't like the camp (and she likes EVERYTHING). Upon further conversation, she let me know she didn't do anything and just went to the playground. Her lunch was untouched (her snack looked to have been eaten), her water bottle gone and her extra shirt (a favorite) missing from her bag. The worst part-her diaper had gone unchanged all day. I had made it a point to tell several counselors that she was potty training and that I had packed diapers. As she exited, all the kids had balloons and pops except for her. She had nothing to show that she had learned, or done, anything that day as others walked out with projects. So not only did I (a teacher) pay an amount that is a lot for me so she could attend a camp that advertised itself as a STEM experience, my child is upset and now has a negative view of camps, which is very upsetting. 0/10 wouldn't recommend. read more

This was our second year at NORY Camp on the UWS. We added the Swim option as well, which was an highlight. Our son came home energized everyday to talk about his day and share his projects and experience with us. The staff was all very welcoming and had good communication. We had an amazing experience at Nory this summer. Our 5 year old son was excited and happy to go to Nory every day, he learned so much about engineering, science and technology, and made so many friends, it was incredible!! There is an option to add-on swim or soccer, we added swim, it was 3 days/wk. The Brooklyn site director Serah is just wonderful! and seamlessly communicates with parents. We also found the teachers/counselors on staff to be engaging and awesome. We were shocked to learn they all had degrees in education or engineering/science! (tried other camps last summer and they were staffed by inexperienced high school students). Our son loves Nory so much we signed up for all the weeks we were in Brooklyn/NYC, we are excited they also offer school break camp so that we can continue during the year. We love Nory!! read more

Imagine a critical member of your staff came to you and said, I'm out of commission starting immediately for unspecified reasons possibly for an indefinite amount of time. Well, that's exactly what NORY has done with its Fidi Camp. Just like that, our plans for the entire summer went up in smoke and we're scrambling to find alternatives, which of course is slim pickings this late in the game. Given the cryptic communications, one can only assume the underlying reasons for the sudden change just 3 days into the program is likely embarrassing in nature. Camp itself is nice. The admin is much too fast, loose, and unreliable to be trusted handling young children. read more

God sent! We started NORY with our then 4 year old at Downtown Brooklyn and due to the pandemic moved virtually in 2020. The major difference in experiencia were the size of the projects but the fun and creativity remained the same. The summer of 2020 was tough but with NORY we had structure and safe fun for our child. They manage to keep your child engaged and work on independent skills. Plus they mailed everything, I mean everything you need for the the daily project to your home. read more

We had been attending the NORY pod on the UWS this year, and attended camp last year. NORY has been amazing to us, and has been instrumental in keeping the children safe, educated, happy, and entertained while learning this year.  NORY has a whole dedicated staff and teachers who are attentive to doing the best for the kids! The activities are fun and educational, and kids have a chance to socialize and form friendship. NORY's attention to safety procedures is commendable, and we are glad to have had NORY to help us through this year of distance learning. Great experience. My kid had so much fun over the four weeks. The camp is a combination of work on a project and outdoor/sports activities. The camp counsellors are young energetic people who are very good at keeping kids engaged. I also appreciated it that they sent pictures and even video about camp activities. I have been thrilled with Nory. My Kindergartener has been attending Nory pod on the Upper West Side during distance learning days. She's thriving and has had a blast in the process. I love that Nory starts their program right after private and charter schools end for summer break. Nory also continues to the end of all summer breaks. Great for working parents. I opted for Nory because my child needed physical activity as well as some technology experience. They had a fantastic time during the three weeks at the camp enjoying both, and came home with interesting projects. We are very happy with the progress. The only negative experience was that during the last week says the classes were a tad overcrowded (and one "annoying" kid). read more

We love Nory and the founder Matt. My 4 year old decided it was the "Best Camp Ever" even though we had to commute into the city. She loves the ability to create her own robots and the look on her face during the "aha" moment is priceless. We even had them perform a class for her birthday and it was hit among the parents as well as the kids. My daughter was in the 1 day memorial day STEM + Robot camp. The feedback from her was positive in which she finds that the learning experience was unique. Also, she had very good things to say about the facility that Nory used in a private school in downtown. Of course, she said it was fun. As a parent, I feel safe also in the facility in downtown in addition to the supervision of the camp counselors. read more

NORY is wonderful. Both my children love it. My son was struggling with distance learning and NORY solved the problem seamlessly! After attending Nory, he is more self sufficient and can complete challenging school tasks on his own -- this wasn't easy for my 8 year old prior to attending Nory. Nory is fantastic--our son, age 7, rates it "10 out of 10" and can't wait to go in the morning. It's creative, educational, fun, well-organized, supportive and just overall-wonderful. We are huge fans, particularly for kids with a scientific-engineering slant. When we drop him in the mornings, 3 counselors greet us with enthusiasm and warmth--it's like no other camp experience. Our 7 yr old daughter absolutely loved the holiday virtual classes that she took with NORY. She was excited every day to show us what she had built in class. Her technical descriptions of how she built circuits were truly impressive. Even more impressive was that she was able to take her new skills and build new stuff entirely of her own design using the extra materials provided by NORY. We were really impressed! "This was my first summer at Nory. LOVED IT!!! As soon as I heard about Nory, it was a dream come true -STEM + Sports all rolled into one week-by-week package... tailored to our family summer schedule. Nory really is the best of both worlds. I'm the proud science geek and my husband is the proud sports nerd, and together we made a kid that loves both. And Nory delivers on expanding his knowledge and skill of both. NORY is by far THE BEST camp my children have attended. Both my children ages 4 and 6 attended this past summer 2019 and had so much fun. They came home every week with a new robot or contraption that they created and were so proud of. The imagination and innovation that was used and displayed blew my mind. My kids loved the lunch that was provided as it was very kid friendly but healthy! The staff were all very friendly, helpful and were adored by my children by the time the end of camp came. Matt is phenomenal, responsive and is very accommodating. I enrolled the kids late and he helped me register and get them setup for success. We weren't able to try the swimming but we will certainly be taking advantage of it this summer. I highly recommend NORY for all kids. My children loved the experience, the teachers, and came away not only with some great friends but more confident, excited to learn and never wanting to leave. A+++ for NORY. read more

Terrible experience. Terrible customer service. Matt never answer emails. You run a business and a customer asks a question regarding your business as owner you respond with an answer. Its so simple. Maybe Matt didn't learn that at Boston College. After reading the last review im glad not sending my child there as they apparently don't do background checks on their employees. We have booked an event with this company to come and host at our campus on a Saturday morning. After confirming several times, they never showed up. We had parents come here and we kept calling for a few hours with no reply. We even sent over emails with no reply - even though several business days have passed. We are extremely disappointed, and we looked pretty terrible in front of a bunch of families who were expecting something else. Now, we have to do a re-make event on another Saturday with our own staff to apologize to the families. This is very unprofessional! read more
