Stages St. Louis - Jane Austen's Pride cast

    Stages St. Louis

Today was my first time at Stages! Lovely little theater. Parking is a little difficult due to a small lot, but I was able to snag street parking around the corner which worked out just fine. I sat in the front row and had a great view. The seats were pretty comfortable and the patrons were respectful apart for some errant ringtones throughout the show. I treated myself to a signature cocktail during intermission which was a little too sweet (and expensive at $13 + tip) but also flavorful and refreshing as a dessert type drink. For the 2025 season, they are offering a discount on tickets with the code Explore50, making tickets for any of their productions $50 (inclusive of service charges). Unless you're a student or senior, this is the best ticket price you can find. It also allows you to sit anywhere so treat yourself and sit in the front row to admire Mr. Darcy you can!

It was funny, dramatic and had such great music and learned a lot about Carole King. Seats were fantastic and the theater is such a great place. Only complaint is I bought a ticket package that was stated included pre show reception with "drinks". But the drinks were a coupon for a single coffee or soft drink, just thought it was a bit misleading.

The League has not only helped me find volunteer opportunities in St. Louis and helped me learn more about my new city, but it's allowed me to meet so many multi-faceted, accomplished, and inspiring women from all walks of life. I have made my best friends here through the League. There are lots of service opportunities but also great social opportunities as well--monthly Dinner Club, Book Club, and Bunco nights being my favorites! Everyone has always been incredibly welcoming, warm and inclusive. If you're not interested in joining, you can still support the mission of the Junior League of St. Louis by shopping at its downtown Kirkwood gift boutique, most typically open on Saturdays when it's operated by League member volunteers. The boutique has a selection of gifts, including many items from St. Louis vendors and women- or minority-owned small businesses. You can also stop in to buy their famous cinnamon rolls, sold frozen by the dozen or half-dozen. The Junior League trains volunteers to help support St. Louis-area nonprofits and causes, in particular those that help advance childhood education. The proceeds from the boutique help fund that mission.

I transferred here from one the best and biggest leagues in the South and it was so disorganized from the start. The women who are left there are mainly sustainers and sadly very catty, non-inclusive, mean girls disguised as grown women. Not good role models of women uplifting other women nor valuing creating a sense of community. Most of who is left is there for self-serving purposes (titles and because they know the league itself has a great reputation so they try to piggy back on that). Don't waste your money!
