I would understand if we called for an emergency but we set this appt up days in advance. When you finally called us, you did NOT try to offer your services for free or discounted. Please tell the truth. I had you on speaker and my friend heard the whole conversation. *** Never received another call the night or next day from any unknown phone number. I knew very little about roofs except that I needed a new one. Marty Liles, Universal's agent, was the second of the 5 estimates that I received. I found him extremely knowledgable, very helpful and easy to work with. Marty wasn't just sent to my house to measure the roof and get back to me with a price. He took his time to explain the differences in products and recommended what he thought was appropriate for my house. When I got the 5 bids I was very confused. Marty was the only representative that was willing to come back to my house and explain the differences in the proposals that I had received. He basically differentiated between the apples and oranges that I had received as quotes for my new roof. I had a comfort level with Marty that the other sales people did not provide. I decided to use Universal based upon the feeling of trust and integrity Marty exuded. The price ended up comparable to the lowest offer for what I wanted ( not a bait and switch scenario I was wary of). The roof was scheduled to be installed about 2-3 weeks after I committed. I was contacted by Ben Daniels, project manager for Universal, to put my job on the calendar. He was very professional and also easy to work with. Ben said it would likely take 2 full days due to size of my house. On the day the roof was to be installed about 8 guys showed up at my house at 6:45am along with Ben. I think by 7am they were working on replacing my old roof with a brand new one. They worked straight through until lunchtime. After lunch they started back to work and after approximately 30 minutes it started to rain. They covered the house so that the there would be no damage. Instead of calling it a day, the roofers stayed at my house until the rain blew over about 20 minutes later. At about 3pm another 4 workers joined the 8 that were already working at my house. They all stayed (12 guys!) until the job was completed. By that time I had neighbors who were home from work and came over to check things out. No one could believe that such a large roof was installed in just 1 day! Not to mention that the new roof looked great and enhanced the beauty and value of my home. All I can say is that I had a fantastic experience with Universal and would highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a roof or repair. About a year later and several king tides and a bigger storm the cable had rusted. They then told me there was a stainless steel cable that was a new product. What nonsense. They could have changed it the first time to stainless steel and told me the difference in the costs. Again what nonsense. Charged me $600 to change to stainless steel so the cable's would not rust. I felt that because I was a female they took advantage. Stainless Steel Cables cost at max $35.

I hired Father & Son Roofing to replace my shingle roof, along with all of the Fascia trim and metal flashing. The shingle work appears to be ok from the ground, I didn't get on the roof for a closer inspection, don't want to end up dissatisfied with that as well. As far as the fascia trim is concerned, if you don't mind half inch gaps between the overlaps, and uneven ends from one board to the next, then these are your guys. The problem is, I DO mind. I wish I could post some photos here to show the quality of the work I ended up with. I had the "Father" / owner come back to point out the issues, all I got were excuses. Besides, what am I going to have him do !? He would have to tear most of the fascia boards and flashing off , and possible some of the shingles to make it right. I don't have time, and shouldn't have to be bothered with all that. Although, by rights, that is what he should have to do. I paid for Expert / Quality work, that's what I should have gotten. The FIRST TIME. It's unfortunate, but I don't recommend Father and Son Roofing. It's a FACT that I could have, and WOULD have done a better job, had I been physically able. I am Disabled, and therefore no longer have the physical ability to do that type of work. Now, every time I have to look at it I get Pissed off.
