Watermelon radish from Open Harvest. TASTY.

I love supporting local stores, farmers, makers, and other local food-providers. Open Harvest provides. The deli section has creative and tasty options. Sometimes it leaves me wanting but I know that the reason is not for lack of effort or laziness. Co-ops survive on sales (obvs). So if more people patronage the co-op, the greater ability the board and managers will have in making decisions to provide a greater selection. There are some cities that have BUSTLING, VIBRANT co-ops. Big, extensive hot and cold bars for lunch and dinner, huge selections, juice bars and cafes. But this all comes from growth and starts with people choosing the co-op over bigger stores. I get it. I have a child, bills to pay, student loans, etc. But I also choose to spend my money where I see positive change and impact. So I choose to get most items here. Granted there are times when a trip to target is necessary. But my number one stop is HERE!! I hope they can build up a reserve of funds so they are able to soon move and/or expand and are able to offer more (and possibly cheaper) options. My favorite treats outside the standard grocery haul are their orange pecan scones, nutrilicious cookies, ginger cookies, burritos, and tofu pad Thai. They also do a great job of stocking new and innovative natural make up and skin care lines. They have some good mascara options and the prices are same if not lower than sephora-with better ethics!

Really awesome Co-Op I just happened to be getting coffee next too so I popped in! Great looking produce, and hobba sections. They have Cliff Builder Bars on Sale for members.. I'm not a member here but since I am in Ames, IA's Wheatsfield Co-Op they gave me the member discount on the Builder Bar! Which they didn't have to do but was super sweet of them! Great prices, super friendly people, deli options! This would be my go to grocery if I lived in Lincoln.

    Loving her new catnip pillow.

I've noticed as the weekdays go on the bakery doesn't stay as stocked with the bagels, but the donut selection is always chock full with a wide selection. (The frosted sprinkle ones are my favorite.) I have to say that there's one cashier who works in the mornings who is the definition of great customer service. Incredibly friendly, helpful, and cheerful which is perfect for the morning shift and greeting folks who are going about their day. I wish some of the other cashiers that are scheduled that early--and even earlier--had that same kind of pleasant demeanor. Who knows, maybe that's why they're scheduled when there's hardly any customers. Otherwise, the prices here are again, what you'd expect from a Super Saver. They have good deals depending on what you're looking for, and it's convenient if you work in that area and need something quick or want to make a longer grocery stop.

The prices aren't bad especially if you purchase the Whole Foods 365 brand. I love how they offer self serve samples. There's always a ton of employees to help. This location has a great amount of parking and it's conveniently located across the mall, surrounded by other shops. The only thing I would criticize is how this location does not make fresh sandwiches. Today I stopped by the deli section and was told they don't make them fresh. However, they do sell already made sandwiches in a specific section. I was bummed about this because I love wholefoods sandwiches. The ones that have been sitting out aren't as good. I ended up buying a slice of pizza for my toddler. I asked if they could warm it up but the employee told me I could with the microwave up front, near the cashiers. I've been to many other locations where they simply helped me heat up the slice in the open oven right behind them. They also don't sell freshly made coffee. I'm sad this location doesn't do this as well. I'll end on a positive note; they recently added family meals for $35, which includes two sides and two proteins. It's such a great deal and you can use this to meal prep ahead of time. It's also a convenient option when you don't feel like cooking. Just pop the food in the oven and you're good to go.

When talking with customer service, they said that I would only be able to get a refund if I brought back all of my groceries (that are already used) to return and then purchase on the gift card. The staff was not knowledgeable and I am now out of money because of this situation. It's very frustrating.

This year I noticed a new trend in the bakery. My birthday was last month and my cake came from Russ's at 33rd and Nebraska Parkway. My daughter picked up the cake and noticed it was a single layer 8" round cake. That's the first single layer round cake I've ever had in my 67 years. My daughter had her birthday a month later. I ordered the cake from Super Saver on 27 th and Pine Lake Rd and told them explicitly double layer German Chocolate cake, 8" round. I picked it up today and it was a single layer 8" round cake. The person working told me she split a single layer to add the frosting. Now I'm really questioning who on earth wants a single layer round cake? I think this trend looks cheap and it's very disappointing and embarrassing to pick up such a small cake. I think I'm done ordering cakes here.

Because I'm new in town, I don't have a local bank. Getting cash back at the grocery store is my way of obtaining cash. I have shopped at A Street Market, Super Saver, Hy-Vee and Trader Joe's. My card works fine there. Needless to say, I shan't be back. Their prices are as high as Hy-Vee anyway so it's not a loss for me. The cashier told me they won't let us take the.
