First stay here at Open Gates and we have hardly left yet and I felt the need to go ahead and review this place. The house is gorgeous, the room is cozy, comfortable and beautiful. The home is very clean and smells fresh. The breakfast Zach made was some of the best I've ever had. The kitchen is gorgeous and the library was cozy. We will definitely be back to this hidden gem. If you need a relaxing place to stop on your trip or just want to get away this place is perfect for either. Thank you Zach and Carrie for having us. We can't wait to send our friends your way!

Open Gate Bed and Breakfast is a great option especially when you want to visit Jekyll Island and St. Simon Island. We did just that, and found it to be perfect. Darien, GA is the second oldest city in Georgia after Savannah, so it was like stepping back in time. We contacted Open Gate Bed and Breakfast, and wanted to stay in their pet friendly room. Unfortunately, it was not available for our dates. However, Zack was very accommodating and helpful, and we ended up staying at a nearby cottage that he knows the owners of. With that, we still were able to go to Open Gate Bed and Breakfast. Contact him with any questions or concerns, have breakfast, and enjoy the grounds of the B and B. There is an in ground pool perfect for the summer months. Breakfast is amazing, and we had breakfast there two days. It is served anytime between 8:00-9:00 AM but if would like it to be served later, let him know. You will be eating breakfast with all the other guests at the B & B so it's a nice experience. We had sweet crepe cigars with mascarpone and berries, bacon, and fruit one day, and the other day we had omelets. Both were very tasty. Definitely check this place out when you are planning to visit these areas. You will also learn about Darien, GA, a cute quaint town with an interesting history. It is quiet relaxing kind of place.

This was mine and my husband's first bed and breakfast experience and it did not disappoint us. Chef Zack and his wife Kerry were more than accommodating to us. We were a group of 6 and loved staying here. The house is an estate made built almost 140 years ago and Chef Zack cooked us daily breakfast. We had delicious gourmet breakfast items such as eggs Benedict and also fluffy irresistible crepes filled with mascarpone cheese and berries. We had daily juice, coffee, cookies, Danish sweets, local made chocolate and fresh fruit. Definitely a gem in this beautiful little coastal town with affordable prices.

The staff is EXTRAORDINARY!! We were delighted that everyone was very friendly and helpful, ready with suggestions or just a kind conversation. The rooms are clean and well appointed. We took advantage of the complimentary hot breakfast and had the pleasure of meeting Petula, who truly made our morning! One afternoon our daughter was looking to make some hot tea and yet again, Petula saved the day! Having such kind and good energy folks truly does make all the difference to us. As my husband said, from the bartender to the housekeeping staff to the front desk management, the folks at The Inn were just top notch! My entire family enjoyed our stay and we are looking forward to future visits.

We were in town for a wedding, and while a majority of the wedding party stayed at The Cloister, it was more economical for us to stay at the Inn--and we had no regrets! The service was wonderful, rooms were comfortable, ample well-lit parking was appreciated, and the free breakfast was a really convenient touch. There is a top golf swing suite in the lobby directly next to the lobby bar. The bar had a small food menu with bar type bites and served free popcorn--the bar was open until 10pm while we were there in Nov '24. The hotel is right next door (0.1-2 miles) to a shopping center with a movie theatre, grocery store, local boutiques, and a couple restaurants. Definitely would recommend for your visit to St Simons Island!!

From the moment I arrived, the cleanliness was absolutely impeccable. The rooms were modern, beautifully maintained, and everything worked flawlessly. As a Hilton Diamond member who travels constantly and stays almost exclusively at Hilton properties across the country, I have high standards -- and this Hampton Inn & Suites met every single one of them. Two things that make or break a hotel stay for me are the HVAC and the shower, and this property nailed both. The HVAC system was whisper-quiet -- a rare and genuine luxury for a light sleeper like me. Most hotels sound like a diesel truck idling in your room when the AC kicks on; here, I slept like a dream every single night. And the shower? Phenomenal. Where most hotels have clogged showerheads and disappointing water pressure, this one delivered what I can only describe as a five-star experience. Absolutely glorious. The staff, however, is what truly sets this property apart. The front desk team, led by the outstanding Kyara, was professional, warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely a pleasure to interact with at every turn. They went above and beyond at every opportunity. The grill's wait staff deserves special recognition. Rickette, our server one evening, was not only incredibly attentive but so charming and funny that she had our whole table in stitches -- genuine, effortless hospitality at its finest. David, another server, was equally impressive -- cool, calm, and exceptionally skilled at his craft. The service from both of them was simply world-class. Don't miss the evening entertainment either -- the live music and bingo nights are a fantastic touch that add real energy and fun to the experience. And the outdoor amenities are lovely; on nice days, the spaces are comfortable and peaceful, perfect for relaxing or getting some work done al fresco. The gym is clean. With free weights and ample cardio equipment. It's better than the gym I pay for back home. This is a property I will return to without hesitation. My highest possible recommendation -- full stop.

We were very pleased to see a restaurant and bar there and even more surprised when the food and drinks were delicious! The room was clean and comfortable. The gym was also a nice surprise as I went down the next morning and found a Peloton bike and an excellent assortment of weights. A quick workout what just what I needed before completing our trip to Fl. We'd stay here again!

The bad: - their lone elevator was out of order - the 4th floor, of course I get a top floor room when the elevator is out, wreaks of cigarette smoke and weed - the room smelled like stale cigarettes - ac was filthy - the toilet rocked - the chair was filthy - breakfast is terrible. They give you some packaged muffins and a breakfast bar. - pool was closed, supposedly because of covid - gym was closed, supposedly because of covid - laundry was closed, supposedly because of covid - there is a pile of mattresses outside the back entrance. God knows how long they've been there. This place is a pathetic excuse for a hotel. They don't care about guests at all. The place should be condemned. Covid probably saved their ass from taking care of major issues that need fixing. I've never stayed at comfort suites before and I will never stay at one ever again. We had 5 rooms at this hotel, one of the rooms was already open and not cleaned when we checked in. We spoke to the front desk and they sent their head cleaning lady up to clean the room, after 5 minutes she had left and said the room was "cleaned with a fine tooth comb". We proceeded to look through the room again and it was still left unclean. The front desk was able to change the room, but once again was filthy. We proceeded to check all 5 rooms and each and every room had stains on the mattresses, along with rips in the carpet, lamps that looked like they've never been cleaned before, sinks with toothpaste left on them, possible bed bugs etc. We checked in and checked right back out within an hour. Would not recommend staying here even if it's your last option.
