I went to this clinic in late August, and after being made fun of by the nurses (my native Spanish…read morespeaker partner overheard them call me inútil, or useless for forgetting my ID) had what initially felt like a productive meeting with Dr. Diesfeld. He recommended a list of potential medications he could prescribe, and sent them to my PCP. My PCP received the list, but none were within his specialty to prescribe himself. I called back and forth for over a month, having the staff gatekeep, and finally getting ahold of Dr. Diesfeld to figure out a solution and way to prescribe the medication. I explained the problems I ran into getting HIS recommended medications prescribed, and also his staff making cruel jokes at my expense. He informed me it was likely because the nurses saw alcohol in my urine. He told me I "pissed straight vodka into the cup."I reminded him I drank the night before and no other night that month. He deflected and promised to talk to my PCP. He called my PCP, (lied about previously trying to reach out to his clinic according to my PCP) and when my PCP asked Dr. Diesfeld why I hadn't received treatment over a month in a half after an appointment for my un-managed chronic pain, which has been ruining my life? He said he made it clear to me he wasn't treating me due to my substance issues, citing marijuana and alcohol in my urine. During the appointment he notably agreed marijuana shouldn't be considered substance abuse in the way I was using it, nor did he raise any concern when I told him I will drink one or two beers sometimes, or especially the night before. My PCP even vouched for my substance use, or rather that it was irrelevant to treating me, and that nothing was pointing to me being an addict. After speaking with my doctor, he called me, and attempted to re-contextualize everything he told my doctor. Between Dr. Diesfeld and my PCP, I am trusting the one that doesn't typecast me as a drug seeking doctor hopper. If you have to go to this clinic, make sure you cleanse yourself of any substance they deem offensive, legal or not, come with everything necessary, and look as proper and clean cut as you can, or you should languish in their eyes.

I made an initial appointment with a doctor at One Medical after my health insurance assigned their…read morepractice as my designated PCP. I was really pleased with how easy it was to set up an appointment on the app. I uploaded my insurance information on the app and presented it again to the receptionist when I arrived for my appointment. I saw the doctor and was pleased with my care. However, I needed a prior authorization for a prescription and everything went downhill. Long story short, I contacted One Medical three times by app (as instructed) to request the PA. The app has read receipts, so the staff saw my request. I never received a response. A week before I was going to be out of my medication, I was finally able to get in contact with a customer service rep at their corporate office. She was very apologetic about the issue and had the office manager reach out to me. The office manager told me they didn't take my insurance and that they would not do the PA. I felt like the office manager was blaming me for the issue. However, my insurance company assigned One Medical to me, said One Medical was a participating office when I called, and had them listed online as in network, so I didn't appreciate the insinuation that I did not do my due diligence. One Medical had multiple opportunities to let me know that they did not accept my insurance, but chose to ghost me until I reached out to corporate. I was left without care and with an empty prescription. It was difficult to find a new provider on such short notice, so I had to go without my medication. Had One Medical paid attention when I booked my appointment, showed my insurance card to the receptionist, or during the 3 times I reached out about my PA, I could have started the search earlier and found a new doctor. One Medical is careless at best and negligent at worst. With so many other options in Chicago, I could not recommend One Medical in good faith.

My experiences there made me feel that all PT practices are like medical facilities! Kamin is not; feels more like a med spa! They have 3 rooms, a mini gym, and 2 restrooms. The rooms, like I said, feel like a massage room. The lights are dim, they have soothing music on, and nice touches like mobiles hanging from the ceiling and a bowl of mints. The bathrooms are nice and are like what you find in a home. The gym has medicine balls, a treadmill, elliptical, etc. If someone accompanies you to an appointment, the waiting room offers a nice variety of tea and coffee while they wait! I really like my therapist there and hope she sticks around as I love this facility! The staff at the front is really nice as well and confirms appointments via text. The only thing is they do charge a $125 fee if you don't cancel your appointment w/in 24 hours.
