This weekend, I discovered another hidden gem for hosting Bridal Showers, which as many of you know, has become about 1/3 of my social calendar these days (the other 2/3 being weddings and bachelorette parties, naturally). Space -It's a large space with a parking lot in the back. Dark red curtains, and a wooden floor. There were maybe 6 tables of 10 organized in a semi circle in the middle of the room, with some tables for gifts at the front and a throne for the bride, and three large tables in the back for food. -The entrance is by the parking lot, not the street, so signs may need to be put up for guests unfamiliar with this. -A bar area was set up with sodas and lemonade. I think the hosts can bring their own alcohol if they want (but it's not provided by the venue, so unclear if they'd serve it or if it would be a self serve situation). Food -Food was catered by the venue and very good- simple and delicious pasta salad, potato salad, penne a la vodka, caesar salad, and make your own sandwich situation with turkey, ham, corned beef, roast beef, and salami, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. -Dessert was delicious too-mini brownie looking things that were actually (suprise!) chocolate mousse cups, mini cheesecake bites, profiteroles. I was there for the first time yesterday as part of a countywide political fundraiser in advance of Primary and General Elections in Pennsylvania in May and November, respectively. It felt spacious and fairly modern with plenty of room for a light dinner buffet, tables for sitting and eating, as well as floor space for standing conversations. It accommodated the 200+ people quite well. Only shortcoming of note was the need for improved acoustics, as with almost everyone talking (too much) it became difficult to hear my companions. Why do politicians insist on talking all the time? That's not the fault of Rafters, but a few strategically placed sound reducing panels would go a long way to helping with the vocal glare. Nevertheless, a good locale for a small get together with your 200 closest friends.

I really love the modern look of the ballroom, the high ceilings and I like the added metal fixures on the chandeliers which gave them a more modern look. The room is very large and spacious and can hold a lot of guests. The gazebo ceremony was a lovely area as the sun was setting. The food was great, and the staff are so friendly, I especially loved working with the wedding coordinator who works really hard, I've met her before at another event. She was NEVER planning to show up and we should've known with cryptic texts that it would be "rainy" and she wouldn't be able to "work with our venue" (she never even called them and cited she couldn't get in touch after a few emails, threatening to call off serving our weddings multiple times). Go onto BBB to see the additional complaints, there are many. She has scammed multiple people trying to plan a wedding and it's horrendous. I am taking legal action against this person.
