I bought a Groupon for the family so that my boys (3 sons and a boyfriend) can go play. My oldest son's girlfriend joined us too. When we first drove up, the park looked compact and I was wondering how crowded it would be and if we would be entertained for an hour. Don't let the compact size of the park sway your thinking on adventure because you will definitely have fun and be entertained for over an hour. After checking in and signing waivers, they get you all settled into your harnesses which go over your shoulders, cinch at your waist, and go around each thigh. Once you get all in, you feel super secure. They went on to teach us how to wear our helmets properly and demonstrated how to clip onto the line and how to recover if you lose your footing before you even go up the ladder. There are 2 levels of obstacles and a multitude of obstacles. We had such a good time and you work your core to keep balanced on the obstacles. We drove past this place a few times, and when I asked my 7-year old daughter what she wanted to do today, she emphatically said, "the zipline park!" The 'obstacles' are almost exclusively balance-based, and deceptively difficult. I actually found some of the 'green' (beginner) routes more challenging than the one 'black' (advanced) route we tried, though by no means was that route easy! The main takeaway was that the staff were friendly, receptive and professional. As someone who owns an outdoor adventure company myself (whitewater rafting outfitter) and having worked in the industry for 30 years, I have a critical eye towards other businesses in the outdoor adventure industry. Great fun for the kids! I didn't do it but they had a blast. It's $33 for 90 minutes, but they never really kicked us off because it was slow and rainy I guess. Don't know, but I appreciated it. There are green, blue, and black diamond courses and two levels. So there's something for those who are fearless and those not so. There are 4 zip lines throughout as well that were a favorite for my kids. The workers were very helpful and kind when the kids got scared or stuck somewhere. My 9 year old son had a blast! Spent over an hour cruising the obstacles and daring heights. For $35 I think it was definitely worth it. He got great instruction at the beginning. It helped him feel safe and calm his fears. There were staff on every level to assist. But I would say they were not always concentrating on their guests and too into their conversations with one another. This place is rather new and looks like they are continuously making addictions to their site. There is some seating benches and a couple picnic tables for observers. Could use some landscaping. Seriously fun! My daughter (11) and I spent a very enjoyable time trying out all the fun challenges on this course. The staff were around to help if someone got stuck or explain an obstacle. But you get to explore on your own. We had an 11am time slot, which turned out great. Yes, we were hot by the end, but we never waited in a line for a challenge. And with sodas for $.81 with tax, it wasn't a big deal! Our favorites were the high air swing and the top zip line. We had to really throw ourselves into the air to make it across without an assist- something my daughter (and I) found amazing. One final thing- this may not be the perfect experience for little kids (under 6), depending on your child's temperament. There were 3 different children in tears because of fear or not knowing how to move through the course. Even the one with a parent was afraid. So just know your kid's level of daring. read more

Whoa... seriously. SO. MUCH. FUN. ... and tons of fun for your buck too! I went up to Open Air Adventure Park in Estes last weekend with some friends and it was an insanely beautiful day and a super fun activity in sunny Colorado. We pulled into the parking lot and I saw the course already had a bunch of people on it having a blast... lots of people of all ages even little kids! We didn't have to wait at all before we were harnessed up, through ground school, and up on the course. I was nervous, and I CAN NOT believe this, but there are 35 elements to the course and I did them all! I can't even do a pull up and I am SO out of shape and feeling weak and I thought I'd definitely have to pass up a lot of the elements up but I surprised myself. It was a great experience. Our group had a blast going through everything and (when invited) being challenged by the staff to make it harder and more challenging. They were really encouraging and friendly too which helped make our day fun too! My favorite part of the course was the old chair lift at the top where you can rest and enjoy a great view of the valley. I have to say more about this... The staff were SO nice and knowledgeable. I hate to go to the gym because of the environment which can sometimes be really intimidating. The course didn't feel like that AT ALL. The staff assured us that if we needed it, they would be there to rescue/help etc. but really just kept encouraging. Another cool part of the day for me was getting passed up by this 62 year old woman at the top level of the course. I thought I was really doing great until she came flying up to me... she literally did the zip line 30 ft above the ground and was flying at me. It was great to see that people of all ages and skill levels can come and enjoy the park. I can't wait to bring my family back. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun day trip from Denver/Colorado Springs/Boulder/Fort Collins... or an activity while in town on retreat or just passing through. It was a beautiful drive (we had lunch at Moon Kats http://www.moonkats.com and it was delicious!), lots and lots of fun at the park and were back in time for dinner in Denver. Go do this! Our 12 year old daughter and I checked this place out after seeing it from the top of the nearby slide. We wandered over and were very impressed. It was $35 for 90 minutes, including all safety equipment and instruction. Guides were very friendly and helpful. The 'elements' are rated by difficulty (green, blue, black). Once you've had the safety chat, you're free to climb about where ever you'd like. We stayed the entire 90 minutes and loved it. A good workout, too. A nice alternative to the bumper cars and mini golf next door. I love having options for fun things to do with my kids. Highly recommend. Parents - just get up there and join your kids. Very creative activity for kids and adults, this is one of those things that we weren't sure if it was a tourist trap or a fun experience, it is definitely the latter of the 2.
