Back in 2017, I ventured online and produced a do-it-yourself will and do-it-yourself trust. Big mistake. I discovered that our beneficiaries (our children) were not set up correctly and that the trust would have failed to protect us from probate and was the wrong kind of trust for us. Three weeks ago, we engaged Shaw to do a "trust restatement." What we got were well-crafted trust documents and a team that was easy to work with (Tara Shaw and Arielle Ott). The new trust included what are called "pour-over wills" for me and my wife. Our old wills and our old trust documents are now in the trash can. They have a disciplined process. They (1) sent us a questionnaire to fill out, (2) reviewed and clarified our responses, (3) sent us the draft of the documents with a request for final corrections, and (4) provided a signing meeting with Tara at the end. Throughout the process, they were available to answer questions. Our advice for clients is to be as thorough and accurate as possible in the information you provide steps (1) and (2), else "additional fees may be incurred." They also make clear that "your documents are printed the day before your signing and changes are not made at the signing."

My wife and I completed a Married Trust Estate Plan with him that included our Wills, Power of Attorney for financial decisions, Advanced Healthcare Directives, etc., and he set up a Family Trust to hold our assets in such a way to allow our heirs to avoid the hassles of probate. Jack fully answered all of my questions and provided guidance where I asked for changes that were not in my best interest. I do believe that Jack understands his business well and I was not disappointed (which I often am) with the quality if his work.
