Cool store if you are looking to decorate a shore house or if your taste runs in that direction…read more From its storefront you would not imagine how big the interior is, and how much stuff they have crammed in. But it's shop able and makes you want to keep exploring the nooks and crannies. There was a friendly and attentive staff on hand, but they didn't crowd or try to hard sell you. They seemed to like where they worked and the vibe transferred to the few browsers who were inside. As the other reviewer astutely noted, they seem to enjoy placing gag food items on tables, bars, hutches, hell, on any flat surface really. These items are seemingly handmade and priced fairly high for what they were. Maybe they throw one in for free if you purchase something that you could place it on?

I was drawn in by the window displays, but wound up wandering the entire length and width of the store. They offer interior design services and made to order (or assembled to order) furniture, as well as many decorative items. There were candles and candle holders, some Christmas decor, lamps, painted figurines, glass jars, some ceramics, clocks, novelty napkins, furniture, pillows and signs with the names of NJ shore towns on them, and nautical-themed decorations. (This is, after all, the Jersey shore!) I saw shiny aluminum dishes (or maybe they were ashtrays) shaped like life-sized flip-flop sandals, and carved wooden "bathing beauties" painted with vintage bathing suits. There were cast iron hooks shaped like lighthouses and shells. There was a lot of "faux food"--I guess you're supposed to put a fake cake or pie on your un-used dining room table, though I'd always rather consider a REAL cake or pie. There was quite a range of fabric samples to be chosen for upholstery on the furniture offerings. Interesting stuff, both for those shopping to furnish a home, as well as for smaller shore-themed gifts and decorations.

Instead of saying what I should it said, I asked my family to walk out if the store and I explain them. Dear owner, we were not the typical family that you see every day, as we are not white, we are Hispanic and my husband and son in law are white. But I wanted to let you know that we work hard for everything we have, including a nice vacation. Our grandkids worked doing shores and saved enough to get what they want on top of the spending money we give them for their vacations. We teach them value and respect. I could have stayed and confronted the lady, instead I walked away and by doing it, we were the biggest people and I tough them a lesson of respecting themselves and not allowing nobody to disrespect them and mistreat them because of their race. One thing for sure, every time we come back to town, I would never spend a penny on your store. I hope you learn a lesson with this and remember not to be racist. By the way, I am very proud of who I am and where I am coming from, Puerto Rico. I have served this country as well. I read the owner review, two points, at the time of our visit; there were only 2 clients, other than us. Second, clearly I heard the lady telling the young employee, I was just walking by her when she instructed her to look out for us. If there was no intention, there should not be any derogatory comment. Also, get cameras so next time you accuse someone wrongly, you can see. Do not try to sugar coat the reality of the event and the discrimination of the accusation. Do not worry, we don't let situations like this to take our great moments away. Yes, I was very upset as my daughter and granddaughter wanted to buy from the store, and telling them what the lady said was not easy, especially for my 13 year old. But my family time is priceless and we enjoyed the other stores.

Upstairs is a lovely art gallery. We stopped in during THE PANDEMIC on a quiet weekday. I immediately fell in love with some of the framed photography, but like many others, during these difficult times, I'm on a budget, so that was a hard no to spending $150 on art right now. Luckily, when we wandered upstairs, we found less expensive prints of the images so we could frame it ourselves. SOLD. Staff were friendly. And bonus, even through my mask, it smelled so lovely inside.

When you park in their lot for shopping only, there's no charge. If you're staying and walking across for the beach/boards, you're paying $10. My gripe with this place is that ever since I can remember, the woman at the register hasn't been very friendly at all. No hello when I say hello to her. My 4-year old needed the restroom, and she said she had no restroom (c'mon, really? This shop is in a large house..of course they have a restroom). Hubby had to take my son across the street to Subway to use their bathroom while I shopped (and purchased something!). Also, the Yelp check-in deal said (1) free seashell. After showing it to her, she said she didn't have any shells. Mind you, there are 99 cent seashells ALL OVER this place! And it was for my little boy, not me!!! On the way out, she says, "here", and gives me a prickly seashell. Thanks. Jenkinsons aquarium gift shop across the way has a good assortment of stuff - next time will just shop there. Just wanted to visit here one more time for memories sake. Always got nice stuff in the past here but not worth the 'tude.

The problem here is the attitude of the woman who works here (somewhere in her late 50s or early 60s and has sandy blond curly hair). I have watched her on several occasions be rude to customers. Someone asked her a genuine question this Saturday as to why the shop closes at 4pm. Her response was they would not make any more money. The customer then asked "even in the tourist season?" And the woman behind the counter said "yes honey!, even in the tourist season". The customer being offended by her tone said "well I guess you know better than me" and this woman's second rude response was "I sure do". This was just one event. There have been others that I've seen but I don't remember the details. So although I would highly recommend shopping here for the selection of items, I would though try not to interact with this woman much unless you absolutely have to. I have learned that she is not the owner and hope the owner reads this and will watch her more closely as she needs better people skills.
