I stopped today again at Globetrotter in its relatively new location, between the Northbound and Southbound sides of Route 35, just south of TD Bank and Dunkin' Donuts. I was even more impressed than the last time I was there. The space is huge, and is filled with ceramics, textiles, jewelry, and other beautiful objects. Since my last visit, the owner has converted additional space (that must have just held inventory when I was last there) to more retail space. There's even an upstairs now, with more wonderful merchandise in it. I've always driven past and marveled at the huge assortment of glazed ceramics outside the shop. The blue-glazed planters are so bright and beautiful, I want to take them all home! So I stopped in, and the owner was friendly, and offered to help with anything I was interested in. He did go back inside (where there's more merchandise to see), but I don't blame him--it was hot outside in the sun! When I went inside to see what was there, he told me that he contracts for all of the pottery, from a number of different countries, but most of it is made in Viet Nam. The glazes are really beautiful, and the variety of shapes and sizes is amazing. The owner did mention that Hurricane Sandy wiped him out. He plans to move to a larger space a little further north, where the Shore Antiques Center used to be (at the crossover between the Northbound and Southbound sides of Route 35, just south of the new TD Bank and the Dunkin' Donuts). What a hidden treasure!!!!! My sister and I went searching for garden pottery and were pleasantly surprised by the huge, eclectic selection of items found from over 100 countries. My decorating style is bohemian/Moorish with lots of vibrant color fabrics and wood furniture. The owner was so helpful and generous with the stories behind every handpicked item in the store. Don't think you can just run in and shop, its an adventure and you won't want to leave. Well worth the visit. read more

I'm giving Globetrotter a 5 star because the pots are really beautiful. But it's hard to understand why nothing has price tags. I've never been to a store without price tags. Be warned that the pots are very expensive the pot in my pic is over $500 with tax and there is no flexibility in the price. I was amazed by our experience, and this is not a joke nor a fluff piece. Globetrotter is not just a store but an intentional work of art. The owner Dean has traveled to over 100 countries and collected each item himself. You'll see fair trade, all natural items in a beautiful, artistic display. Dean, a super nice guy, was so kind to my three children and me. He explained that the store is designed as an artistic experience as much as a retail offering, and man was he right. The items are displayed immaculately, by region and color and the feeling they induce. This sounds nuts as I've never been to or read about a store like this, but it's true. People actually have given offerings at certain spots, literally leaving cash (!) at sections of the store that induce a meditative feeling. Have you ever been to a store that lets you walk around and you actually see cash donations just sitting there? It's a sign of the trust he and his customers have for each other. What a unique store! The pottery and articles from all over the globe are so carefully selected. It is well worth the trip. Be prepared to spend some as there is so much to see and choose from. For a long time I have passed by this wonderful outcropping of gorgeous ceramics at a turnaround on Rt. 35 in Point Pleasant, NJ. On the hunt for a ceramic bowl for my orchid, I knew I had to try this place. What I was not prepared for was the amazing store hidden in plain sight! It is a treasure trove of amazing imports. If you have ever dreamed of foraging through a bazaar in some exotic pan-Asian county, you don't have to go that far, Lol! And although there were strict Covid restrictions, the owner was welcoming, extremely helpful, and did not limit my browsing. Went to this shop looking for ceramic flower pots. I found two I liked but when the man working told me the price I said I wasn't interested in spending that much. He literally chased me to my car trying to tell me about the quality of the pots. When I said it didn't matter because I just didn't want to spend $300 for two relatively small pots he told me I was the rudest customer he's ever had. He can sell over priced pots if he wants but I have the right to buy elsewhere. And chasing me to my car after I had already told him I wasn't interested is unacceptable. Save your money and buy somewhere that doesn't overcharge and where you won't be disrespected. read more

Luckily my kids love nature and culture and appreciate the nondenominational eclectic free for all his store has to offer. The owner was disgustingly rude to us. We will never give him one penny of our money and will tell everyone we know never to go there. We picked out two very small, adorable stone figures that we were going to buy, and were yelled at for moving them. He scolded us and told us they have a very strict policy of never moving anything. Years ago this store carried some interesting Asian pots and garden ornaments -- then the tone of the place shifted from exotic to touristy (lots of brightly colord pots carrying the names of local towns). Still, because I had bought a few interesting items in the past, I stopped in on two occasions recently to see what I might find. I'm afraid, based on both visits, I will not return. The owner was incredibly rude -- yelling at me not to touch anything, then giving me a longwinded, arrogantly delivered speech on the history of the item I had oh so gingerly picked up. None of the items are priced, and the price quoted on one item I had inquired about varied considerably on my two visits. Fortunately, I wasn't tempted by much of what he had, but if I were, I would find it difficult to purchase anything from this store. There are so many places today that carry interesting Asian imports -- there is no need to put up with such attitude and questionable selling practices . One reviewer attributed the downturn of the store to the damage the place suffered from Superstorm Sandy.
